I was nowhere near her size but I was 340 lbs and I'm now 135 and this is so infuriating! She took someone's space that truly wanted to lose the weight and wasted his time and effort as well as the hospital staff! She's so entitled and her husband isn't helping her. Even if she didn't eat a scrap of pizza he shouldn't be bringing that food to the weight loss center! I did it with hard work and eating right. She's not ready to get real and take this seriously.

It isn’t hard at all. Drawing a comparison between drug addiction and food addiction is misleading. A drug addict can’t give up without severe suffering, a food addict can easily start eating less and eat low-calorie food. Eat 5 apples first, wait for 15 minutes and see if you want to eat the 4 burgers. Hunger can be eliminated with low-calorie foods so you can actually have that one burger AND feel full.

She likely doesn’t understand how MUCH she eats daily. Most people who get grossly overweight don’t. You don’t realize you’re eating 1000+ calories eating a few slices of pizza or a Cinnabon with extra frosting. So they might think they’re ‘cutting back’ by only eating a medium pizza instead of a large. They don’t understand that one slice is really all they’d be allowed for a meal when you’re on a 1500 calorie a day diet. I think they should be put in an inpatient class for the 1st week of the program, so they can learn what 1500 calorie a day looks like! I was overweight as a teen and it shocked me to find out how much I needed to cut back. I eventually lost 70 pounds and have now kept it off for 30 years. But it involves changing the whole way you think about food. She can do it!!

I think they give patients a strict diet plan and exercise routine to follow in order to lose weight. She probably made her own adjustments because I can imagine how much she’d have to cut down, and comfort eating is also emotional. Maybe she needs ongoing therapy as well. It you say “sorry that you feel this way” it implies that the actual situation, isn’t something you are actually sorry about and you put the “issue” onto the other party. It’s like the “sorry I hurt your feelings” crap that people do so much. If she were sincere, she would have said something along the lines of “I am sorry for lying to you”/“for misusing your trust”/“for breaking my promise”/“for getting angry, despite you not having done anything.” You know, something that puts fault onto her.

I lost a lot of good years and I am not kidding when I say I absolutely should be dead. I cut it very close 3 times. Recovery is HARD. Especially because once you get sober you are immediately thrown into a life that's become a complete mess. Facing reality is the top reason why people relapse. The lost time, burned bridges, guilt, embarrassment, and financial crisis a newly sober person must deal with gets extremely overwhelming. It's so important to take a moment to say something positive to a person in recovery. We need that very badly. You never know when you're supportive comment could be the difference between someone relapsing vs finding the strength to fight it. Again, thank you 😊 💜

Why don't they treat severely obese patients like anorexics? They keep them in, watch them eat, ensure they make weight, if not back in hospital on a drip. So keep her in hospital/in patient facility until she drops weight, then let her home for weekend or over night visits. If she increases in weight, back locked- in. She is clearly mentally unwell on the opposite end of anorexia.
