One of her dishes was like: a chopped up chicken browned, sausage browned, pork shoulder browned, potatoes, sour kraut, white beans, bottle of white wine all thrown in a pot and cooked all day… it was something like that give or take but it was awesome like a single pot dinner before there was such a thing lol she was nicest person always happy, never negative always a kind word. An excellent presentation those chops look fantastic enough when you merely browned them, but when you introduced them into that delectable and amazing mushroom sauce you took this meal to a another level. My step mother used to make a similar dish but to shorten the time she just used Campbell's Golden Cream of Mushroom soup, I do not like mushrooms but loved it when she made these pork chops. I am sure this recipe is better because it is made from fresh ingredients.
@sweetrosemary20002 жыл бұрын
I refuse to ever use any can soup for any recipe. My chef instructor would say things like that are a lazy way of doing things. Remember when restaurants tried to start a trend of mash potatoes with the skins mashed with them? UGH That's when you know that the restaurant that serves that is not a good eating establishment.
@MidwestMike1002 жыл бұрын
@@sweetrosemary2000 And look at the ingredients in the canned soup: a lot of sodium, preservatives and additives. Not a healthy choice. For my preference, she uses much more salt than I will use. But that's just me. On the other note: I cook all my potatoes, all types (russets, reds, golds) and potato recipes with the "skins" (jackets), and I eat the skins. There is a great amount of nutrients in the skins.
@swenhanson41252 жыл бұрын
I agree and French fries with the skins on as well, I refuse to buy them. One place we always used to go to for burgers and fries, changed from really great fries to skin on fries, I told them they suck, they has loss my business.
@mgreg81342 жыл бұрын
@@sweetrosemary2000 Both parents worked full time time jobs and were trying to raise six kids one with epilepsy. Besides trying to keep a 2000 sq foot home clean and laundry done for all of those kids I would hardly call her lazy. Taking a shortcut to try and still put a nutritious meal on the table for her husband and kids is admirable to me. Your chef instructor needs to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. If you have all day to cook instead of just an hour after finishing an 8 hour shift where you had to deal with the public, run errands, do grocery shopping maybe she could have cooked a meal like chef's do.
@mgreg81342 жыл бұрын
@@swenhanson4125 To each his own I love the skins on my potatoes. It is my favorite part of a baked potato, not to mention a lot of the nutritional value of a potato lies in the skin. There is a local burger chain where I live that makes their own fries by simply running them through a cutter and frying them up., best tasting fries I have ever eaten.
