Maybe the Devs are in a Sim themselves and know how to gain that authority themselves and give it to someone in one of their own Sims to see how it would affect them. Then again, that is the theorized background for DDLC and most of the premise of a webcomic I read once but couldn't finish due to it being centered on a romance I didn't get invested in.

Someone , back in 1972 if I recall correctly , once said , " The Universe is a Vast Probability Engine designed to generate Life and Advanced Intelligent Life with Free Will ." At the time I thought he was merely sharing an unusual Theoretical Model which attempted to define our Universe . Now I am not so sure anymore . He told me many things and we shared many ideas he was a good man and I miss him as I miss many in my life that are no longer with us . The last thing he ever said to me was , " We broke a lot of rules . We rolled the dice hard . Don't be stupid , I can't return . There are Time Constraints which are ill Defined . [ FTL Time Drives backwards Speed , Time Ladders variable forward speed ] Time Constraints ill Defined . Take it as Far as You Can .

By that standard this 6 minute video is the best simulation story I’ve ever seen. I laughed out loud so many times!
