Hi SciShow friends. I know I'm a year late to the party, but I have very relevant knowledge to share! As an undergraduate in environmental engineering at my university, one of our intro course's first exercises is to calculate how much carbon emissions could be offset from soft drink production. It turns out, the carbon emissions from just one single mid-sized fossil fuel power plant is enough to carbonate all the soda pop currently produced in the world. Even if we ramped up soda production to where everyone in the world drank soda exclusively, that would still only offset the carbon emissions of a few million Americans (maybe equivalent to the state of Nebraska). And that's ignoring that we would just re-emit most of the CO2 through burping and it would be very bad for everyone's teeth. In conclusion: the carbon-capture-to-pressurized-beverage pipeline is unfortunately not a very viable climate solution. Sorry Hank! Just kidding, I know this was probably a silly throwaway joke, but I thought you might like to know that we engineers have indeed evaluated this possibility.

Hey guys! How about a "two window" tshirt, with one graphic (side by side) a "modern naked monkey bird" on a smart phone or something. The other would be a "hairless house ape" done up in the style of 50's or 60's (maybe staring at an old TV? ) The caption could be "Evolution of human understand of self" - or something more clever😉 See, "hairless house ape" is the term I grew up with. Always heard it from my dad, so I'm GUESSING he heard it sometime in his own kidhood, so the 50's or 60's, depending on his own age... but maybe that could use some research. Whaddaya think? 🤩🤞

We'd only need to produce about 10^15 liters of soda drinks (about a hundred thousand liters per person alive). The oceans are plenty big enough for that, and unfortunately they are already carbonating themselves on their own due to excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Thank you for finally not claiming that you are attempting to stay on topic at the beginning of the episode. Interestingly this is probably the closest to on topic that Hank has ever started an episode, so a little weird that it's the one that doesn't start with Hank blatantly lie about stay on topic right after concluding a segment dedicated fully to being off topic but I'll take it.
