Home workouts need to be much more than just "exercises you can do at home". When I create these workouts for you guys I pay very close to exercise selection, rest periods and how I combine the movements so that each and everyone one of you can complete the workout. This is only a 12 minute workout, but there is no reason why you can't run through the circuit 2 or 3 times. I actually have a dumbbell (50 lbs) but I only use it for squats. For my upper body, it's step-stools push-ups and ring inverted rows (performed as supersets). And for cardio to finish up the workout, jump rope all day as I like to keep my workouts simple with high volume. Other than that, I might give this routine a shot. Awesome stuff, Scott!

Hey, if anyone has an olympic bar and any kind of weight plates, you can safely do core exercises at home like bench and squat by just getting a $35 set of chain collars, a couple of chains and S hooks. You chain weight plates hanging from each side of the bar with enough chain so that the plates are touching the floor at the bottom of the range of motion like touching your chest for a bench press or touching your shoulders at the low point of a squat. Then when you fail you just bottom out and all the weight is on the floor so no danger. It's a little different because you start by powering out of the hole instead of from the top, but it's safe even without a spotter. If you want to go all out, you can get two 18" long pipes the right diameter (1" or 2") to slide weights over that are threaded on one end. Screw a threaded flange or Tee-joint on the bottom of each and drill a hole straight through an inch from the top big enough to hook with the S hook or to slide a bolt through that you can hook with the S hook. This will let you load plates as a stack on the pipes from the end with the drilled hole so they rest on the flange or Tee. It's a little nicer than just running the chains through the plates and also means you don't have to adjust the chain length depending on how many plates you are using.

First, Merry Christmas. I really like this work out, but I have to find a substitute or skip the "jumps." The crossbars to my basement ceiling are only 11 inches from the top of my head. Experience has taught me that aiming my head so as to jump between the beams does not work too well. Lol

Any advice on what to look for and what to avoid when buying protein powder? Also, thinking about trying out BSN protein, any suggestions on flavors?😂 thanks!
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
BSN is all about quality when it comes to their products. In fact, BSN is owned by GLANBIA and Glanbia will not accept anything other than the highest quality for all their brands. (Optimum Nutrition, Isopure, ABB, etc.) Personally, I use SYNTHA-6 EDGE. More protein and less carbs so i can get more macros from my food. Use my code SCOTT15 for 15% off and free shipping at GoBSN.com if you want to check them out. Might I also suggest some creatine as well? Definitely great for longer / more intense workouts!
