The Toyota Champ is going to be my next utility truck. I'll have to buy the sides to the bed to keep my feed where it belongs, but being able to fold down the sides as well as the tail gate is an awesome feature for a rancher. I have a 2014 SRX4. The 2 wheel version is probably faster but I have accidentally laid a 4 wheel patch. I have a 2009 CTS 3.6 DI. I was the only sale at that dealer in that month (this was when GM was going through bankruptcy) The dealer changed my extended warranty from 100K Mi to 75K Mi and I did not pay attention when I purchased the car (in 2009). At 99.7K Mi I got the recall for the timing issue. $7.8 K warranty work. However, the recall only covered the timing, it DID NOT cover the damage the timing issue did to the engine. Nor the fact that the breather tube on the Passenger side was replaced with a sensor causing the oil to coke in that area. Long story short, it cost me an additional $5.6K to rebuild the engine. Valve train, Cams, Bearings, 2 pistons, all of the rings, the works. That shyster Dealer cost me that $5.6K by pulling that switch and me not catching it. I will not ever, ever purchase another GM vehicle, for any reason, due to that experience.

One thing I don't like about it, is that it has a lot of blind spots due to large corner posts and due to the sports car design, feels like you are sitting on the ground. So many vans, SUV's, and trucks on the road now, when you park in a parking lot, you can't see over other vehicles to pull out of a parking space safely. Not a bad car over all though. Later model GM V6's don't have the same issues with the timing chains as the earlier GM HF V6s. The problem was traced down to consumption of oil through the pcv system due to design flaw in the valve cover gasket and ventilation system. The revised system uses a different gasket with an integrated baffle to prevent as much oil from being ingested and the newer engines use improved hydraulic tensioners. An older engine can be easily retrofitted with the new valve cover gasket. However timing chain stretch and wear could be avoided in ANY of these engines by simply checking your oil level regularly as it was oil starvation that causes the excess heat leading to chain stretch and the damage to the tensioners. FYI the replacement to the SRX is the XT5 and it's actually a little bigger, comparable in size to the Honda Pilot/MDX and they've actually been selling well. Still think they are around $8-12k over priced in my opinion
@jackpalczynski78849 ай бұрын
I'm happy to hear that hopefully GM has upgraded the 3.6L. I got the intake manifold off (,the starter is under it), then i noticed the valve covers leaking and had to get a special pulley remover for the water pump pulley (which needs to be removed to get the valve cover off), and don't forget you have to take, basically, the entire front end and radiator off, just to replace the alternator. Lifetime tranny fluid? Nope- changed that at 60K and I just drained and filled that at 116K miles. Runs perfectly. The key as usual is proper oil/fluid changes. The Cadillac CUE infotainment system is the worst! After just a couple of years certain parts of the touch screen stop reacting to your touch. I can no longer connect my phone because when I push the media graphic/button on the screen nothing happens.

"People want luxury SUVs but are sick of the ridiculous prices!" lol If the price isn't ridiculous it isn't luxury and if a common man can afford the repairs then it DEFINITELY isn't luxury. "It doesn't have to be better, it just has to be more expensive." - Cadillac internal company motto since 1954.

I had a 2016 ats 2.0 turbo with the Hydra-Matic 8L45 8 speed with the transmission shudder. It only had 21,000 miles. Had it flushed like they mandated and 7000 miles later it returned worst then before. Il n3ver own a gm ever again pure junk. The cue screen would freeze with whatever was on, and I would have to stop restart it to reset it. I'm much happier with my 2018 4 runner after 40 years I Finally learned my lesson

Check brake & transmission fluid levels. Have each wheel spin freely by hand to determine if a brake pad is stuck or wheel bearing is bad . Hope helps.
