You know, if you watched Chandlers scenes without the laugh track, they would be really super depressing. :D It would be him telling jokes and then everyone just standing there silently for a few seconds without laughing, then carrying on with conversation.
@Ignauhak
@Ignauhak 5 жыл бұрын
Most sitcoms probably wouldn't be as funny as we think if they removed the laugh track. Take Big Bang Theory for instance, I found it icky enough to begin with, but without the laugh track, its humour is just plain creepy and I wouldn't in any way want to be associated with those assholes who call themselves geeks.

There's actually a good explanation for some of them. Monica was subletting from her Grandmother who had been there for years before she moved in (and I think it was rent controlled on top of that), and Rachel was just staying with her. Chandler had a tedious office job with a ludicrously complicated sounding name, but he had his own office, so it was probably pretty high paying, and Joey was his room mate so he just played a lower part of the rent than Chandler I think. Ross was a paleontologist, but I have no idea how much they make, so it could go either way on that one. Phoebe is the one that doesn't make sense, because she worked as a masseuse and played guitar at Central Perk as a hobby, so I seriously doubt she was making enough money to afford an apartment in Manhattan on her own.

@@williamwoolf8072 You can tell she is traumatized(more or less) by the way she glosses over really dark details like they're no big deal, or how desperately she tries to stay positive in the face of adversity. Unlike her sister Ursula, who's WHOLE character is insincerity. Phoebe combats dysfunction by killing it with kindness, unlike Chandler who uses sarcasm & cynicism... probably why she doesn't like him as much.

Thats a good description of the big bang theory. Except replace,"like" with, "hate". And , "one of them" with, "all of them.

monica, Chandler, joey, and Phoebe were all very likable. Ross and Rachel were not

@@FirstNameLastName-pg3pi Ross and Rachel were not as likeable as characters as they were interesting. Both of them had incredible character growth over the ten seasons

@@FirstNameLastName-pg3pi for me Ross, Rachel, and Joey were likeable. And Monica was hands down the most annoying because Courtney Cox had a tendency to just shout her lines as if being shrill for no reason would make it funny somehow. But just my opinion!

I relate to the randomness of friends in my close group. We have a physio therapist, an engineer, a rich Asian, a guy who had a kid at 17, a woman who survived on selling mushrooms in bc for 3 years, a lead in a local metal band, my sister who lived in South Korea for a decade, I'm a specialist who builds and designs analytical gas measurement systems, and my wife who was approved for disability because of multiple mental illnesses. People be different. But United by a dark sense of humor lol.
