I use a GameCube controller adapter with my laptop so I can play computer games with a GameCube controller. I have the B button (what I was holding down while watching the video) set to the number 5 which corresponds to something in one of my games. The video took me to 5:52 when I pressed it, directly where Scykoh caught the Dugtrio. Good times.

Honestly, I enjoyed the game being louder than normal! I like being able to hear the game audio, it makes the game feel more important which is important for a play through like this where what you're doing is something that needs to be payed attention to!

Yes, by the way it is possible to have 40 by that time. He's actually slacking because with the available items and areas following the same path as the player character, you can have 40 when you hit Route 24 (with trading) or on Route 5 if you don't do any trading but there are a few other species to be found that you could also evolve in the areas around Vermilion (and that's not including in-game trades).

This is amazingly frustrating to watch I watch Nuzlockes where my balls start to clench but this...pure artificial difficulty and not even in the fun way where you did an entire chapter on Danger Mario and another chapter on Peril Mario Somewhere in the game the Gym Leaders are in awe over the structure of your team.

(going by families, if I say pidgey I include pidgeotto in that) Nidoran 2 Pidgey 3 ratata 4 starter 5 abra 6 Bellsprout or oddish 7 spearow 8 bug 10 pikachu 11(veridian forest?) jiggly and clafairy 13 Paras 14 Geodude 15 Onix 16 zubat 17 sandshrew 18 meowth 19 Drowzee 20 Ekans 21 Diglet 22 Magicarp 23(pretty sure old rod is there somewhere at the 3rd gym, this is talking about something I did like 15+ years ago, to the left of the pokecenter there I believe or somewhere outside) Stopping there but yea, 40 without getting the same pokemon twice would be tough at that point.
