+Feuerbach1 - Now that's a whole load of big tough Neanderthal talking. I wonder what country you are from? Considering your attitude i guess you're American (northern or southern) or perhaps Eastern yourself like the refugees? And you say it easily like "a few million refugees." It's not only refugees, there are real weird and sick fucks among them. Also, how many refugees did the rest of the World, outside Europe take in again..? That's right, mere thousands or tens of thousands at max. While indeed, Europe is stupid enough to take a grand total of nearing millions, of which most will concentrate in the wellfare states, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden etc. which are already heavily burdened. Countries like Russia, eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Baltics) etc. should take their responsibility as well if they want a say in this matter! Same goes for you. You are shouting your tough bullshit thousands of miles across an Ocean. Easy talking huh... Why don't you take in some serious # of refugees yourself hmm? Talk to you again some years after that

Lyrics in English: This is the longest I'm going. Never the same person again. The ugly road charms again now, the day I escape life again. Free If I work on this one time, is it still my death. My belief is that everything will not go well. I'm done with this. Free Day and night the sound was so loud. Swollen endurance paralyzed smile. Continue riding, the heart pumps tears. Day and night I now walk alone. Free Buried bones rot in the ground, like your secrets which you kept away from me long ago. But the blood is heavier than the silence. Free Forged words, stones in your mouth, cut deeper than any wound. Broken ties will never be the same. Lies like a bite. Free This is the longest I'm going, Never the same man again, Free If I work on this one time, Is that still my death, My belief is that everything will go well, I'm done with this, Free Day and night, the heart was troubled, Swollen endurance, paralyzed smile, Continue riding, the heart pumps tears, Day and night, I now walk alone, Free If I work on this one time, Is that still my death, My belief is that everything will go well, I'm done with this, Free Day and night, the heart was troubled, Swollen endurance, paralyzed smile, Continue riding, the heart pumps tears, Day and night, I now walk alone⟓.

This seems like a good place to put my story. I flew to Portland (from PA with a connection in TX) to see Agalloch many years ago with my best friend (same year AT&T stadium opened because we used that connection as an excuse to see a Cowboys game. The Mantle is one of if not my favorite album so it was well worth the trip. Few years later, Agalloch was playing Maryland Death Fest and the same friend asked me to go. I’m not super into death metal but Agalloch so yes, I’m going. The ONLY other thing I remember from that show is Solstafir playing this song. The whole drive home I’m reminding myself ‘solstafir, solstafir, solstafir’ because I had to look it up and figure out what the hell this song was.

Dniem i nocą serce nieukojone Złamana wola, zastygły uśmiech. Serce wciąż pompuje łzy. Dniem i nocą idę sam. Złamane śluby nigdy nie będą takie same. Kłamstwa jak ugryzienie żmii...

Þetta er það lengsta sem ég fer Aldrei aftur samur maður er Ljöta leiðin heillar nú á ný Daginn sem ég lífið aftur flý Ef ég vinn í þetta eina sinn Er það samt dauði minn Trú min er að allt fari ej vel Þessu er lokið hja mér Dag sem nótt hjartað var órótt Þrotið þol lamað bros Áfram ríð, hjartað pumpar tárum Dag sem nótt ég geng nú einn Grafin bein grotna í jörðunni Eins og leyndarmálin þín Sem þú hélst forðum burt frá mér En blóðið þyngr´en þögnin er Svikin orð, grót í kjafti þér Rista dýpra en nokkur sár Brotin bönd aldrei verða söm Lygar eins og nöðrubit

I like the fact that decay can mean life. I mean, just look at the snow at the start of the video, it's giving it's moisture to the ground, refreshing and nurturing it. Death is a very sad event, but we give back what we took. Our legacy, and material. Make your life worth remembering and living on and continuing!

I got an advert saying "fun is where you are", showing happy young people cooking and dancing together in a bright room. Definitely the mood I am in while coming here to listen to this song. ;_;

I love this song so much that I could watch this every day. It's so harsh, just as Iceland's nature is, love the guitar sounds at the beginning. And when the singer starts singing it's just perfect, the Icelandic language is just right for this. And the video is so scary and beautiful, it is amazing!

When i first heard this song in 2011 (was 15, mind you) i had shown my mother and halfway through she said "Wait. That's not English!" Remarking later on how one could feel the emotion of their songs even if they didn't understand what was being said. Eight years later I still don't know anyone else personally who has heard of them or listens to this type of post Folk Rock and that makes them all the more special to me. Edit: after finishing this comment i scrolled down and saw people more or less stating the same. What a band.

There is something about this song. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it just feels right.

I know right. Funny thing is, the lyrics are so opposite the mellowness, the way he breezes through it in English is quite  different feel than the way they sing in their native tongue. I like how it plays on opposites, though you can still hear the languid struggle in the lyrics, which is very powerful and awesome, this is just one of my favorites. I try not to play favorites, but sometimes things just stick. I always thought this was a breezy song. I'm so glad I was actually wrong there--there's more depth to it than I thought, while the female vocals do mirror this transcendence feeling, it was harder to tell by the main delivery (at least to me in English). I still like hearing it in Icelandic even though I don't understand it, it really flows off the tongue.

The greatest video ever made in my opinion. The music, story, scenery, the talented actors, all are perfect. I find myself relating to the beautiful woman dragging all her baggage with her. She will only find peace once she let's it go.
