@@CalebSAbel Most of the success DK Metcalf has( and many other athletes have) are because of his/their genetics and not because of the training methods. The "functional" absurd training looks cute but it doesn't optimize performance. And if he's ( DK Metcalf) such a "limber" athlete then why is his range of motion on his dumbell bench so shortened? Maybe he's injured? But if isn't doing that movement and others like his it aren't going to minimize injury and maximize performance. Many bodybuilders ain't stiff either..
@CalebSAbel2 ай бұрын
@@Bodyknowledge77 many bodybuilders are stiff. Just look at bodybuilders trying to run. I myself had trained like a bodybuilder doing exercises that were optimal for hypertrophy and this caused me to be stiff. I then worked with my coach for football and he had me doing optimal exercises such as these for football including powerful lifts such as heavy squats and the likes. Of course these guys have elite genetics everyone knows that. What I’m saying is you won’t see nfl players following a strict bodybuilding program because it simply isn’t optimal for sports performance. Hence why they’re called show muscles

After reading the article from Men's Health that discusses this video - this is the least "DK Metcalf" workout ever. In the article, it discusses he literally sticks to old school lifts (bench, different presses, squat, lunge), 100 yard sprints, farmer carries up sets of stairs, and speed/footwork. Then he just punishes his body with how intensely he works out. His real trainer wasn't able to make it to the shoot - so this random guy from the gym designed a workout. If Dr. Mike does review this - someone should link the article - he would 100% approve of an "actual" DK workout.

One thing I've noticed is these guys are absolute specimens but their knees look weak. So no wonder they suffer ACL, PCL, MCL injuries so often...If you ever notice someones hands that does construction or repair work, their fingers are beefy from using their hands a lot....same thing applies to the knees of military men...I noticed it a couple weeks ago when I visited MN for the 49ers/Vikings game and a couple Marine buddies linked up...our knees are beefy and sturdy....I'm just curious what NFL players could do to beef up their knees and avoid injury...maybe day to day boot wearing and hikes and carrying heavy weight would benefit them? Perhaps I'm a bit biased as a fantasy manager that has Rashee Rice on the team lol but seriously, these guys suffer these knee injuries far too often and I see why.
