Another top notch video, you def hit some editing PRs in this one 🔥 I really resonated with the Mike T style of generating tightness. One cue that has really improved my slack pull consistency while getting tight down there is “pull the slack one arm at a time”

Very insightful video! I'm an intermediate lifter (34, never touched a barbell until I was 31), mostly Sumo + hook-grip. My tightness, bracing and speed skyrocketed as soon as I switched to a top-down approach (bracing at the top, get tight, and THEN go down to grab the bar). I highly recommend anyone to try both and see what feels more efficient. When I use straps, I'm forced to brace at the bottom and the same weight feels heavier and slower.

Mitchell hooper said this “shoulder stability during the overhead exercise. “Elevated scapula - bring your AC joint to your ear. And actively stabilize the shoulder. Actively squeeze everything around the shoulder. Keep it protected.” On a article called breaking muscle Do you squee the back and the shoulder when overhead press any tips on getting stronger rotate cuff

Do you have any tips or tricks on how to get active tightness when using straps? I feel that I don’t have enough time to stay actively tight when going down to set the straps correct. I’m not looking for competing and had some difficulties with mix and hook grip already.

I just experimented with some passive bracing. I found, for me, that increased leverage wasn’t worth it. But it did get me thinking more about letting the ribcage come back without letting the lumbar spine round. Something I’m working on some more.

Do you still bias or prefer mix grip over hook? I recently switched to mix and it has made a world of difference
