Chesterfield County in Virginia admits that officers have a quota for tickets and arrests -- and their quotas are per shift. This came out when an officer left the department because he was regularly reprimanded for not meeting quotas, and the department responded to the media that those quotas are considered available metrics for performance review of their officers.
@kevingetsinger91597 жыл бұрын
Fred Hagemeister you are exactly right. I spoke with a cop from North Carolina at myrtle beach. He said that all of the other cops would brag about how many tickets they had given out and the department would tell him that he needed to write more tickets. He refused and said he joined to protect innocent people. They always threatened to let him go but he remained as an officer for 20 years.

'Crystal it does say republic not democracy. also in that republic the constitution is designed to limit the power of the govt however for most of the last century they have gradually been ignoring those limits on their power more and more to the point where now it has virtually become a police state which is what all democracies become only far faster than the US has done. the reason for the 2nd amendment is to give the people the means to defend against that eventuality which is there too "a well armed militia being necessary to the maintenance of a free state". now contrary to popular belief these days a militia is not and never will be the military. a military is govt run and always has been, a militia is a group of individual men and women who are prepared to stand against govt excess, greed, theft and treason. in fact there is no provision in the constitution for many of the heavily armed govt agencies that there are. it only provides for the local sheriffs department and then the states themselves are also allowed their state police. all the rest are unlawful including FBI, BLM, CIA, EPA, etc etc

I just use basic manners. Being polite, respecting their authority even when their attitude is horrible, it goes a very long way. Avoided many tickets, including the one where the state trooper said "Do you have any idea how long it took me to catch up to you!?" I don't cry, get fidgety or sweet talk. I just listen and nod my head. I admit that I adopt a submissive and admonished behavior, and even if I get a ticket, I ALWAYS say "Thank you" because traffic cops have a terrible job, and their purpose is to defend and protect. Think about it. Speeding isn't a rule. It's a law. Break a rule, you're a rebel. Break a law... unfortunately, that makes you a criminal, albeit a minor offense. I just view the fines I pay as my donation to the safety of the community. All that aside, if I was from a different culture, I probably wouldn't be able to have a good encounter with ANY police interaction. That is very unfair and police really should get at least six months of education in sociology, communication, psychology, and cultural awareness. Police officers just aren't educated enough!

Let me explain something. I am a former military policeman and I have a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. The revenue police forces obtain in cities go into a general state fund. Then, cities get 10% of the tickets they write. Ticket revenue does not go directly to a city. Another thing, police officers do lie and sometimes you will not get a ticket if you are right. Example, I got pulled over one night going to my third shift job. It was 10:30 at night and raining, going up a mountain I might add. The policeman said he pulled me over because I was swerving. I threw up the bullshit flag because I knew I was not swerving and asked him to prove to me I was swerving. I might add, I was borrowing my nephews "thug" mobile and the car looked suspect, so I hypothesized the cop profiled me. So, I raised hell and was let go. If you know you are right, stick to your guns. Cops are not always right and some will try to trick you, especially younger ones. Know the law!

Putting stress on words gives an entirely different meaning to a sentence. For example _I never said she stole my money_ Putting stress on each word, in turn, gives seven different meanings to the sentence. Putting stress on any two words gives others, three words and so forth with many combinations available. For someone not using English as a first language, your grasp on it is rather good.

I'm glad there are close to none shootouts with police or officers using their gun here in Austria. That also makes them a lot friendlier and less suspicious, especially the better trained and educated younger ones. Also, there are no rules as to what to do or not when you're pulled over. You may stay in the car or leave it. Most won't even get nervous when you open the glove compartment, although I always announce that before I open it. 20 kmh above the limit is usually tolerated, even radar boxes are set to 20 or 30 above the limit.

My personal opinion on checkout who's dating your daughter, if you're a police officer is, it's a good idea to do so. You never know if the person dating your daughter is out to get revenge for something and attacking you through your family members. On the other hand, if you are dating a police officer's daughter, and have a prior record, be honest and up front about it. Doing that will more likely mean that they will relax a bit, depending on what it is you were arrested for.

As Afro-Americans have fatally found out, when a police officer pulls over an Afro-American, even for the most minor and trivial reasons, that driver is likely to find him or herself staring down the barrel of a police revolver(gun). Just one move, even to retrieve the driver's licence, or just one innocent word, out of place(in the police officer's mind) and.......BANG! Another innocent victim of a trigger-happy cop! America's police DO NOT DESERVE our sympathy, THEY DO NOT DESERVE our trust.

Neil Forbes you're severely brainwashed and bathed in emotional opinions. BTW, revolver? REALLY? WTF is this 1949? ....
@neilforbes4167 жыл бұрын
No, it's 2017! But as far as Afro-Americans' relations with America's police, it may as well still be 1949. As for Revolver, you don't know what that is? Are you joking? It's a gun that takes up to 6 bullets, each loaded into a chamber, and as each bullet is fired, the chamber "revolves" to bring the next bullet in to be fired, and so on until all six bullets have been fired. It's otherwise called a "six-shooter" Get it?
@MyBigThing20107 жыл бұрын
Neil Forbes HAHAHA, yeah I "get it" you apparently DON'T. If you look into factual FBI crime stats and stop being brainwashed by the media then you'll find that all this "black cop murder" your vomiting on and on about is non-existent compared to other races that have police interaction. Furthermore...cops haven't used revolvers to "point at people" since the old days, standard issue side arms are a little more advanced nowadays. Get it? LOL. You're either a special snowflake or you have reading comprehension issues haha. ....n you don't have to try and explain how a firearm works to me...I actually own, use and build them so I'm pretty sure I'm way more competent than you on that matter also. Just some advice though...when you pull your head out of the sand, close your eyes..the light can be bright when you haven't seen it in a while. Good luck lol
@MyBigThing20107 жыл бұрын
Neil Forbes BTW...revolvers can hold more than "up to six bullets" and the term "six shooter" was coined and used in old old old days when Colt Single Action Army pistols where popular...lol

My one real sense of relief is that I am NOT an American. I am Australian. But you Americans, the great number of you, confuse Australia with Austria, due to your country's ignorance of anything outside your own borders. The reason I've said what I have about America's cops is not influenced by commercial media, rather it's in response to a plethora of videos posted INDEPENDENTLY, right here on KZbin, clearly showing a totally-out-of-control American police force.

Being kind and respectful to cops who pull you over will result in a better outcome than if you talk back or refuse to talk at all. Also anyone can run a standard background check that isn't reserved for cops.

A traffic cop in West Los Angeles gave me a $300 dollar ticket for not turning left on a red arrow traffic signal , he lied and said it was the law throughout California to go on a red arrow. I paid it without fighting it in court as I was a single dad looking after a small child in school while also working, so I know that they lie!

Ha ha ha! I was told that I don't have the right to remain silent until after I get arrested! I informed him that you have LESS rights after arrest NOT more!!! And after a short sermon about being a sovereign citizen and the fact that it doesn't ACTUALLY exist... I invoked my rights again and he let me go with a warning on speeding!

On the subject of tickets; If you initiate the conversation before the officer asks anything of you, then you have not waived your 5th Amendment Rights of self incrimination. Its a complicated legal hassle, but the end result is that if you do this and the violation isn't that serious, you're chances of getting off with a warning improve greatly.

Wait a minute...they put people away...then auction off their house, and personal belongings?...ya know? That's probably the most fucked up thing I ever heard. I understand them being human, but how the hell would they feel if I auctioned off their gun? Maybe their handcuffs? Let's see....everything that helps them do their job? If you're going to auction off my house, the house I've lived in since I was 9 years old, then we're going to have a problem. Do they even realize just how fucked up this all is? People have memories with all this crap they are auctioning off!!! Suppose the person who's crap they were auctioning off made it out. Now that poor wo/man HOMELESS! Let's add into the fact that maybe..just maybe, they were struggling as it was and the house was already paid off. Now they can't afford to buy a new house. They have to live on the streets, scrounging for food out of a fucking dumpster. I can't get behind this. It's fucked up!

Another secret is that common law is the law of the land and statutes & codes don't exist in common law. If you understand that and how to establish jurisdiction you can get of of all victimless traffic crimes.

@etonbachs42265 жыл бұрын
The vast majority of police are useless drug addict alcoholic child molesting murderers that belong to the largest gang in America. They do not ''serve and protect'' thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court decision of 2006. I believe it was 2006 when they ruled a cop's job description does not include serve and protect. They show up to take statements, write tickets, and make arrests.

in my city if your pulled over they are looking for felony arrest. identify yourself if you dont have warrants then wast their time..... they will get frustrated because there is real crime out there.... this works best when there is real crime. if you live in a suburb where the law chases down high school kids for minor in possession you might be out of luck

The Miranda rights which include right to remain silent only help when you are being asked questions after you've been detained. You don't always have the right to remain silent. Only use your Miranda when you've been advised of your Miranda rights by an officer which is usually when you're being cuffed.

Traffic jams are such a pain they effect everyone no one in Rhode island even talks about traffic jam prevention. See how frustrating it can be. So a person getting a ticket is nothing compared to the stress of traffic jams. Wanna know what we can do to prevent messes well how about if drivers quit causing a lot of trouble.
