@@ildikoedit9110 look up schema therapy (which actually helps with NPD unlike the BS claims of so called experts) and do the questionnaire on the website...you'll have a bunch of schemas and this will help you identify which ones to focus EMDR upon. I'll be launching schemahypnotherapy shortly to help people in narcissistic relationships. EMDR has its roots in Hypnosis ... but I personally prefer the systemic framework of Schema Therapy and EMDR together. Combining these with a few hypnotic techniques and lives change very quickly.

This seems like the perfect pace - I use this in between sessions of ART with my therapist and it really seems to work. If anyone wants some tips on how to use this, this is what my therapist does: You're going to split your viewing into sessions of 30 seconds each. I'm going to be referring to my trauma as an image, but this will work if you only have feelings to work with. Eventually you will likely get some images that come to mind even if they don't seem to make sense to you or have much meaning. All that matters is that the emotion is tied to them. 1) Think about the upsetting image. Just go over it and talk yourself through it while watching the ball for 30 seconds. Stop and verbalize what that image was and what it means to you. You need to verbalize it. This is important. 2) Start with that image, and decide how you are going to change it. Some people view the ball as erasing it, some imagine how they would change the situation/image. The last one I did, I imagined Jesus picking me up and taking me out of the image before it was erased over with the ball. I created a new image with myself as a child because that felt like what I wanted to do. Stop and verbalize that part as well. If you need more time, go in for another 30 seconds, but only on the positive ones. Don't feel like you need to rush through. You can come back to the image in a few days and see what remains. You need to be gentle with yourself in order for healing to happen. Make sure you are watching on a screen big enough to get your eyes moving back and forth far enough. I find this isn't as good on my phone. Keep pressing on, you will be victorious. 2 Corinthians 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

I had about 5 irl EMDR sessions and it really helped me. The doctor told me to think about what's bothering me and keep that thought in mind while visualizing the moving object. Some other thoughts (that'll first seem not related to the first issue) will pop up, keep thinking about this new topic cuz it may not look like but it is relevant to the main subject, keep doing that (new topic pops up, keep thinking about that topic) until the session is over
@Lia.56SN
@Lia.56SN 11 ай бұрын
And when thinking about your issue first begin with negative affirmations you'd like your brain to rewire: like "I'm not good enough" "I am trapped in this situation" "I can't deal with this situation" "I'm guilty" etc. And notice in what part of your body you most feel the emotion that comes with those thoughts. I can guarantee you it will help.

I woke up and started the day with emotional flashbacks. It was horrible, I had no chance to think something positive and be happy about that thought, because it was false, I didn't feel human. With EMDR I stopped the physical sensations and thoughts, I still have flashbacks, but I am able to study for 30 concentrated minutes. It's normal to relapse, especially if you have active contact with someone who hurt you.

this works for me best if I verbally talk through certain memories as if someone else is listening. The plus side of doing this alone, is that I can better focus on the particular subject that's bringing up negative feelings without overexplaining too much unnecessary context (a bad habit for this scenario, but social norm)

I never used EMDR visually but only acoustically. Works the same and is much easier to 'follow' - you just need to use a headset and a video where the sound is really partitioned to left and right. I would recommend closing the eyes while doing it this way. And for the skeptics out there: I did it this way from the beginning while I was in therapy. Now I still use it when there is a pesky feeling coming up. Just trust the process. I stop when I feel it is over. My therapist thought it might be dangerous to self administer EMDR - I don't see why. I am glad this approach was discovered in the early 1980s. My therapist helped me through the biggest mess with it and now I am a very good way to total healing. Healing is a process - be patient.

Heya sour patchy, i am sorry to hear that you are having a rough time at the moment. my unsolicited advice would be having someone you trust around if you are thinking of attempting this alone. It can be triggering and pull you into the memory. I do not want to scare you away because i live by EMDR and it is the best thing to come through for trauma processing for myself. Even if you have them to ground you and bring you back to the present. No one wants to get stuck, especially after a massive day at work when you may already be exhausted. On subsequent nights, sensations in my body woke me up, jolts of energy that released stress. In dreams, I confronted terrors which previously I ran from. This trend has stuck. For anyone using this to self-administer EMDR, please ensure you have the right grounding tools to help bring you back into the present moment. If you are someone who ruminates quite a bit like i do, make sure you lock that memory up in chained up box, or a safe, or at the bottom of the lake where you can forget about it until your next session. As it has already been said, the left and right audio channel are flipped. They change back though, at 14:02. So even if you already put on your headphones the other way round, you'll have to interrupt and do it again. Is there a way to fix this? Otherwise, a very helpful video 👌 Many thanks!

WOW!!! Thank you. This really helped me in the first use. I’m excited to live this day, usually I dread waking up. I love the sound you choose. At first, when the bumping sound changed, it caused a slight stress response, but as you listen you learn that the tempo interruption is OK and becomes expected. How did you make this? I’d love to be able to watch this on my phone and iPad when I don’t have internet coverage. Bless you for sharing this powerful tool.

@ just like you recall an old memory… but create a beneficial new memory… what does that memory give you? Freedom, joy, wealth, safety? Then focus on that feeling while your eyes move. I imagined myself in my new house… it felt warm, safe, and secure. So I focused on how it made me feel while doing the exercise. It will rebuild neuropathways.

@VISUAL MEDITATION THERAPY I do like this. I am using PT for balance issues due to having Stiff Person Syndrome, though my history does have trauma - what the therapist is having me do is playing ping pong, takes me a bit to "relax" because of SPS I feel my muscles tighten up which signals my brain to get anxious, sort of a double edge sword, because then I go back to the eye on the ball. Wondering why there is a paypal link.

For most part, it is started with a therapist but for the basics. You can think of a specific memory and think about how it makes you feel. You can choose to write this down or not (I do not), once you feel you have really felt the emotions of that memory, you can start to add positive thoughts to it. So for instance you are struggling to get through a break up because there was no closure. Might have someone feeling abandoned, untrusting, sad. You would tell yourself thing like, i wasn't abandoned not all relationships last, whilst this person broke my trust not all people are going to do this, accept the sad but tell yourself that you will be happy and you do find bit of happiness. Over time you will be able to talk or think about these memories and have a neutral or positive perception of the memory rather than it taking you back to the day things happened and changed your brain chemistry. I think a lot of others on here watch and think. I am unsure on how process or if their brains take them where their brain would like to go but for cptsd, ptsd and things like that, i would recommend the above with a therapist if in a position to and if you aren't PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE have someone around to help bring you back to the moment in case one gets stuck in the memory.

@trishliving9942
@trishliving9942 Жыл бұрын
@@paulasullivan4284in the method I use, your supposed to say the things that have been bothering you, out loud, while watching the ball. Let your mind get rid of the thoughts that are repeating then at the end ask your self- what was the first thought I started with. That accesses a different part of your brain and completes the treatment. You’ll notice that thought doesn’t bother you as much when you say it this time.
