At 50 years old, I just started learning how to be compassionate to myself in the last few years. It doesn't come easy, especially when you have long-standing traumas and deficits from childhood that make up a core part of oneself. One of the most difficult things to do is face your flaws--it's embarrassing and painful. Then again, so is growth. Pain does not always mean something bad, especially if it leads to being stronger and more secure, and it's usually just temporary. Thank you, Dr. Becker-Phelps!

Clearly you have worked long and hard on overcoming long-standing traumas and painful life experiences. Though not easy, it seems to be paying off. I wish you continued growth and compassionate self-awareness. And, you're welcome :)

Self love is something i’ve struggled with throughout my life. i’m currently in a “blah” state of feeling right now, but the great thing is knowing healing isn’t linear . this was timely as always

I'm glad it was timely for you. When we on the downside of life's ups and downs, it can be difficult to believe that an up will happen. Good to hear that you are able to grab on to that.

Thank you for this, i've battled with trauma based issues for a very long time. I was always told that i was no good and hopeless, so i battle with self love and self acceptance. As someone getting on in years, I know the old taunts and violence finished a long time ago and i know they were never true. However, it's like i always have this chatter in my mind despite knowing it's rubbish
