I actually shipped 226 head Friday to New Holland PA USA. They sell on Monday. Hopefully they will be properly cared for until I get there on Sunday evening. I am nervous but my N C Cheviot lambs usually sell towards the top of the sale. I have been holding these lambs waiting for the price to get better but a lot of them are over 100# and need to go.

Would like to know how you do at New Holland. I usually ship to Greencastle
@jessealexander43292 жыл бұрын
@@tamnoneedforalastname6775 New Holland scares me but they do have a lot of ethnic buyers there. I sent my load on Friday because they sell in the order that they arrive. I worry that later in the sale a lot of the buyer will have their orders full. I will go down Sunday to make sure that they have hay and water. Some of the help there is pretty sketchy. I don't like sending a whole tractor trailer load at once but I am about 6 hours north of there and it would be too expensive to run a gooseneck each week for a couple months. The higher fuel prices will hopefully keep the western lambs from showing up. Greencastle is owned by Jeff Craig who seems like a good guy.

@@tamnoneedforalastname6775 Hey Tam. My lambs sold last night. My heaviest wt. pen (115# average) sold for $2.25. My lightest pen (75#) brought $2.80. They sold well compared to other lambs but they were the best large groups of lambs there. The buyers preferred the thick Cheviot type eastern lambs over the western range types and hair lambs. Unfortunately the Muslims had gone outside to pray while my lambs went through the ring or I might have got a little more.

Your sale yards are so well set up and organized. We get a little sorting here, but not that specific. How many buyers would you see at your sales? Here we often only have two to maybe five so if they find all they need before your lambs hit the ring the prices can drop badly.
@TheSheepGame2 жыл бұрын
There would be at least 5 big buyers at this sale. The biggest buyer in the UK was there that day and he can't be filled up so no worries about that really. Our fat price has now dropped so the rest of my lambs will need to stay a bit longer.
