SELLING My Ferrari SF90!? The Plan with My New 296 GTS

Selling my Ferrari SF90 Stradale!? With the 296 GTS soon to arrive, let's think about the plans for what happens next with the SF90. The Swiss Alps do not disappoint with quite the scenery, and a true snowy winter test for the Ferrari as we venture across the mountains.
I took delivery of my Ferrari SF90 almost a year ago, and it's now crossing through 10,000km but this tour has been all about chasing the snow and what a spectacular way to find it. We're heading across the Julier Pass, with an absolutely freezing blizzard, as low as -14C (7F) and learning more about the car along the way. Naturally, winter tyres are a life saver, this would not work so well without!
However, the Ferrari 296 GTS spec is soon to be submitted, and that means working out the plans for what happens in the garage when it arrives. Will the SF90 stay or go, let's discuss my plans and think about what might happen next during this leg of the Winter Tour.
SPOILER: Hopefully it will come as no surprise that I have no intention to sell the SF90 in a huryr, it is my first ever new Ferrari that was built to my spec and it's such a magical car that I love driving. The 296 GTS is most certainly an addition to the collection, although my GTC4Lusso will go once the Purosangue arrives in the garage. However, there is potentially something on the horizon that's due to follow the SF90 that rather grabs my fancy, the codename "SF90 VS"...
Thanks for watching, Tim

The SF90 really suits you, the most from your collection. The spec and it’s mild to wild personality. It’s a true gem and so exclusive. The road presence of an SF90 is off the chart. So happy to hear it’s got a spot in your collection. You’re a legend for choosing this for your winter cross country tour. Thank you for taking us on your journey, we cherish your videos 🙌🏽

Got fined 1500€ this summer for going 6km/h over the limit on the highway + forgot to turn one of my blinkers (once) when overtaking. I am French, and 2 weeks ago I have received a paper stating that I was not allowed to drive on Swiss territory for 1 YEAR + 400€ more for « administrative fees » !!! Ridiculous.

The state of your SF90 is pretty much showcasing how all cars look at Finland on late part of the winter. The "grime" is actually road salt + actual tarmac (which the salt dissolves slowly). Here people are also using studded tires on regular roads during winter time, which makes things even worse... I cannot imagine driving car like this for the whole winter. In fact I have separate car for the winter months & day to day driving and the the better car for summer & fun stuff...

Being fair the versione speciale sf90 looks absolutely mega so far, cant say I'm a fan of the fixed wing, the mid development prototype with just the extended rear was more for me, the biggest problem I see for it is the upcoming F250, I love watching you develop your channel and the journey from watching you in monaco in the vantage to now, as much as id love to see you pull an allocation for the sf90vs, I'd hate to see you take any depreciation damage on one knowing what's coming from marenello not long afterwards, test drive someone else's make the content and keep the funds for maybe a few other cars, could have a 1m coupe, clk black, and maybe an sl65 black too with change over the vs, eyes peeled regardless and excited for what comes next, top tier content as always

I was in St Moritz the weekend of the 27th with my partner for the I.C.E event, That pass is a lot less forgiving that I was expecting, even in a car with winter tyres. The drive from Zurich (hire car sadly not Ferrari) was really nice, so I can well understand you taking the road trip rather than flying. I presume you were there for skiing though.

I'm sure loads of people have said the same in the comments, but I'll say it anyway.., I love that you're driving your SF90 with a top box around in the mountains in the winter, getting it all grubby and iced up like any other car. From what supercars were 25 or so years ago, the breadth of the performance envelope, or capability envelope, of the modern supercar, is kid of mind blowing!

While the road you were on looked safe to use cruise control on, it should be noted, using cruise control while on roads that are not dry is unadvisable. You can spin out of control before deactivating the cruise control. It happened to a teenager I know recently who just started driving. We live in the Midwest and get a lot of snow and ice on the roads. She set the cruise, hit ice, and crashed. She’s okay, but also got a reckless driving ticket.

I totally get what you mean about driving in Switzerland. I recently visited for the first time, and I even used the speed limiter function on my car which I never used back home (in CZ there is a 3 km buffer with speeding, and speed cameras excluded cops usually don't care if you are driving on the motorway 10-15km over). In Switzerland, I was driving like I had the police inspector behind me on my driving test. Switzerland is so beautiful but also unbelievably expensive (especially for someone from central/eastern Europe), and driving in the Swiss alps is really beautiful but let me tell you I was glad I could send it at 200km/h (I know I have a slow car) on the German autobahn on my way home.
@pklimbic
@pklimbic Жыл бұрын
You get a 3kph buffer. Fines depend on amount over limit, they are more strict for 30/50/60kph zones than for 80/100/120. If you are over by a lot, the fine depends on your income and they can take your license. In extreme cases, your car ( but that’s hard to “achieve”). Groups of fast cars in the mountains will draw a lot of police attention, especially if going fast or super loud through towns. But, given the nature of Swiss mountain roads, you can have lots of fun without having to worry about the speed limit. Driving fast on highways/ straight country roads is not exciting to us, unlike in many other countries. So just enjoy the curvy mountain roads between the villages, if someone is behind you, let them pass a soon as the road gets straight and you will be fine.

@@pklimbic thanks for the extra info. That is exactly what I figured out, set the cruise and just enjoy the views and perfect smooth shifting and steering and it can get quite enjoyable and peaceful especially on the less busy passes.

Seeing this thing in the snowy mountains with a roof box is super cool, and the luxury/road spec suits it so well. However, I am not on board at all with Ferrari's quite dramatic shift to capacitive touch buttons right as their cars are getting unbelievable fast and responsive. In fast cars, you want lots of hard buttons you can quickly and easily use by feel, keeping your eyes on the road. There's a reason why Ferrari's racecars don't have capacitive touch buttons.

I would love a video where you talk about which 5-10 cars you'd keep or buy in the future, if you were not thinking about the shmee150 brand at all and purely thought about what you want yourself. I do think you put your personality in a lot of these cars but I also think quite a few decisions are made because it's a smart business decision and what could help grow the shmee150 brand. I would also know if you would drive cars like the SF90 upto 40-50k miles or higher or if you would keep them pretty low mileage to keep the higher resell value and get new cars more often. TLDR: which cars would you keep or get if you were no longer a youtuber?

I think that Ferrari looks great covered in a bit of grime and ice! Some modern cars just don't look so good when they get a bit filthy, but not the SF90. I would have expected it to be one of those, but you never know until you see. Especially considering how few owners would let their cars get that dirty, let alone have it filmed while it is! The SF90 remains my favourite Ferrari of the past 20 years - and other than the 599, it's the best looking car they've made in that timeframe too. I've heard that many of the people lucky enough to be able to get one have started selling them off with significant depreciation hits, and I can't understand why they're selling so soon - if it were me, there'd be only 2 things that'd make me want to sell: Pagani and Koenigsegg.

I totally agree with you. Switzerland is a beautiful country that i spent dozen times traveling through the Swiss alps during summer. But traffic rules outside villages/Towns are a bit absurd. Been stopped every year in different checkpoints. As you say. Drive below the speed limit and drive like you got a "driver examiner" watching your every move and you will be safe. I think comparing to other countries in Europe. Norway is close second to this kind of overzealous behavior by law enforcement. There i got lasered 4 times and fined 3700 NOK for 11 km/h to fast on a 90 km/h road. About 800km trip. That was the last time i set my foot in Norway : (

To qualify for SF90 VS minimum must have SF 90 in the garage ++... That's the only reason for keeping it ! Already depreciating like a rock
