I come from an African country where polygamy is widespread, and part of my extended family was polygamous, and I’ve noticed that it leads to an unbelievable amount of problems, infighting, and ultimately just leaves the family broken because a man was meant to take one woman and become one flesh with her, and vice versa. David was never called to have multiple wives, but he disobeyed because he wanted to be like the kings of the surrounding nations. His wives led to many problems (the same way with his son Solomon - that’s a generational curse right there) yet God still had Grace for the both of them. I figured I’d follow this up with some scripture : “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his OWN wife, and let every woman have her OWN husband.” - 1 Corinthians 7:2 (KJV) this verse shows that each man is meant to have a single wife and each woman is meant to have a single husband. Unlike in 1 Timothy where Apostle Paul specifically talks about a bishop, here he isn’t just talking about a bishop, he is referring to ALL believers, men and women. “Neither shall he [king of Israel] multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away.” - Deuteronomy 17:17 (KJV) this verse confirms that David wasn’t called to have multiple wives, which is important because many people (including you in the past) use David as an example to say that men are allowed to have multiple wives. David was clearly disobeying this command from God. My last piece of evidence is in Genesis where God creates one woman for Adam. He never gave him concubines, suggesting that polygamy wasn’t a part of God’s creation plan. Our marriages and relationships are supposed to be a picture of God’s original creation plan, so even if there’s no verse explicitly condemning multiple wives, we can take this lesson from God’s creation plan. I hope to hear your thoughts on this brother. I really love what God is doing through you, as it’s helped me immensely in my walk. However, the Holy Spirit in me keeps telling me to say something about the polygamy points you brought up because I don’t think that corresponds with God’s word, and I think with your growing platform (that’s only going to continue getting bigger) you should really spend time getting clear on God’s vision for marriage and monogamy, because a lot of people are dealing with confusion when it comes to this and need serious help, and I believe God is using you to help people. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, I really meant this as an open rebuke in love, and I would love to sit down with you privately to discuss this. Until you address this though, I’m gonna keep commenting this on your videos because it’s on my heart to call you out/ keep you accountable on this topic.
