Affinity Photo is similar to Photoshop. I’ve also got an old version of Photoshop CS5 before they started doing subscriptions.

Yes!! I just added a comment about this. Affinity Photo is wonderful.

Another vote for Affinity Photo! And it’s a once-off fee, no subscription!

I also stopped using adobe software and use all the packages Affinity offers, i can do everything i did before with adobe.

Great comment! I absolutely subscribe this! (see what I did there? ;) ). Really, since my time (not retired, yet!) as a graphic work employee ended, as a full time freelancer, I have researched a lot about non-subscription based software. And there are jewels out there! It needs a slight change of workflow, but in most stuff the philosophy of work is the same in Affinity than in PS. I have A. Photo, Designer and Publisher. (image editing, vector based graphic design, and publishing (books, magazines) activities, respectively). Totally looove them. But while we are in this subject, there are also other alternatives (IMO not as ideal for many users, but I like them a lot) like PhotoLine (windows and mac), Pixelmator (mac) and for the more patient nerds (still, powerful software), Gimp, but if going for it, wait until 3.0 is fully released (they have released a 3.0 RC1 version, which is not yet the final release). I wouldn't use the 2.x. For digitally painting and with "some" (way less image editing features than the ones of the above paragraph) image editing, you have the wonderful and free Krita (which supports CMYK, great for printing in certain cases) and my favorite, Clip Studio (pro or ex). But as solid round solution, with which you can also digitally paint quite well (great brushes), great for image editing, easy to use, great in exporting PDF for print and many other formats, fast UI, capable of anything to create or edit an image, etc... yep, definitely Affinity Photo, it's the winner, here. Yet though, I'm quite passionate about all the others mentioned here , I use them all (and many more). BTW, for mimicking traditional media painting (watercolor, oils, acrylic, pencils, pastels, etc), and I mean, not applying an artistic filter over a photo, but actually PAINTING, I think it is difficult to find anything better than Rebelle from Escape Motions. It's also very pleasant to use. But this software is laser focused on painting, of course.

Minnie!! I’m so glad your video came up on my home page because I used to adore watching you create your magic, you were my go-to for calming and cozy videos at a time where everything felt out of my control 💖 I’m cursing KZbin right now because it made me realize it’s been YEARS since I’ve caught a video of yours, ever since they royally screwed up their algorithm to show every video BUT the ones from creators we’re actually subscribed to :( I’m glad of this reminder though, you’re a total internet stranger but I’m so proud of you seeing what you’ve achieved so far (you’re nearing half a mil subscribers, you published a book, you and Ozzy have a child?!!). I’ll be turning on post notifications, seems like I have a lot of cozy catching up to do 🧡

Christmas time and re-upholstering furniture go hand in hand in my Caribbean girl brain. Also, I just got my first full time, permanent job and one of the things that I was extremely happy about, was that I'd finally be able to purchase art from you! I've been looking at you since 2017!!

Instead of premiere pro I switched to the free version of davinci resolve which is amazing for editing! Definitely a bit of a learning curve, but SO worth it. Affinity is great instead of photoshop, didn’t watch a tutorial and was able to get started. Still need to watch a proper tutorial in to really understand it though.

Hi Minnie!! I just simply love every single video you put up! They are cozy but at the same time very realistic and that is so refreshing!! I am using an alternative to Photoshop that is serving me very well and it is soooo much cheaper: Affinity Photo! The interface is very similar to Photoshop so I think you too will adapt well to this! 😃 Hope I could help 😊 I hope you and your family have a great new year!! 🥰

Merrry Christmas, Minnie! Your place is looking lovely and cosy and festive; have a lovely peaceful time. I second what others are saying about Affinity. I got their whole creative suite: Photo, Designer and Publisher, alongside DaVinci Resolve for editing videos. Adobe situation is just daylight robbery. Here's to a more cost-effective creative new year for us all! xxx

Yes, take time to rest and rejuvenate. They had me work extra hours around Thanksgiving because two managers quit. I have to be mindful of my energy because I have long-term Covid. The day before I was to get my booster I came down with a massive sinus infection. I stayed out of work two days but it should have been three. I've continued working those extra hours but when I get home, right into bed I go, sleeping at least 12 hours. Fingers crossed, I'll stay well enough to finally get my booster Friday. With your having a young one, I'm glad you're mindful of needing those naps. Merry Christmas to you and yours. ❤

Not sure if anyone already mentioned it but AFFINITY PHOTO!!! No subscription and I barely notice a difference between it and Photoshop. I dumped Photoshop the minute they switched to the subscription model.

Have you ever considered an accounting software like Quickbooks? It imports your bank transactions and you can create whatever categories you like, even create rules to auto-categorise repeat charges like subscriptions. I also love that it predicts what you will owe in taxes in real-time. Just saves a lot of manual entry 😁

oh my goodness, are you manually typing all your banking activity? if you are, there should be a download on your bank interface to just download all transactions into an excel file and then you can sort your activity. If you want to know more please reach out and ask, as an accountant, I know a few time savers with this stuff.

I hope you know how lucky you are she plays independently and not clinging to you 24/7 😂 my nephews start to do that now, and they are past 3...
@user-fc2xk3uv8y29 күн бұрын
not really a hack, but yknow your baby being in a safe place alone for a few minutes is no big deal. if you need to get more done and need to place her somewhere to play independently even if she is just on the floor next to you, or in her crib its perfectly fine. she'll be ok even if she cries for a minute or two. creating a "yes" space where you dont have to watch her so closely will help a ton if thats something you are able to do too. its not really about a hack its moreso adapting the space to accommodate your baby.
@WithLoveFeli28 күн бұрын
In the Netherlands babies have something called a "box", which is basically just a baby safe spot they can't get out of. But it's not in the bedroom, it's in the living room! Idk if there are similar things where you are
@user-fc2xk3uv8y27 күн бұрын
@@WithLoveFeli yes something like this. we have playpens and stuff like that here. im american born and raised. i like the idea of baby proofing the entire home though, even though its not viable for most people (at least here in america!) in my opinion your child should be able to freely move and explore their home fully at every age, without being told no or stopped all the time, hence the idea of a "yes" space. kids should feel safe at home even as babies. of course with supervision, but yknow giving kids that confidence is important to me so i always suggest creating some kind of yes space
