For some reason the official soundtrack version of this song has a deep voiced Santa saying 'Ho Ho Ho' at the drop (the point in this video where Bain says 'Stay Frosty'), but it doesn't occur in-game or, apparently, in any other version of the song. Which is a shame because that's my favourite part and helps sell it as a Christmas song.

the discrepancy between the official ost and in game versions annoys me so much. especially when the ost version is worse, cause then you gotta rely on unoffical uploads and hope that if someone like jesse reacts to it they get sent the version you prefer haha

There are four stages in a Payday 2's dynamic songs. Stealth - You have not been caught, a small loop plays. In Payday 3 there are multiple stages to this section, but in Payday 2 its just a small loop. Control - The police are onto you and sending in some units to free the hostages and arrest the thieves, A section Anticipation - The police are about to try and send in dozens of cops at once, set up a beat drop Assault - The dozens of cops have arrived, the beat drops and loops a B section until Police Assault ends After an Assault ends, the music goes back to the Control section. Also I'm sad they didn't incorporate the 'ho ho ho' sample you can sometimes hear in game

Certain Payday 2 tracks do have multiple stealth stages too, but it's usually the ones made for stealth-only heists.

Yes, please more Payday 2! :D The amount of variety and absolute bangers in its huge soundtrack is just amazing. Oh and by the way, the real christmas song from Payday 2 is called "Pimped out Getaway". It'll sound way more like recognizable christmas music.

Lmfao this was not a Payday song I was expecting you to hear at all, let alone this soon. I love it though! (Listen to 8bitsarescary for Halloween). I'll give a little context as well. Payday the Heist was a really small game compared to Payday 2, in fact, so small, they put all of PTH into Payday 2 as classic heists, so, in a sense, it's basically LFD and LFD2. Simon Viklund was also the composer for PTH and for nearly every song up until around 2017 or so for Payday 2 (some guest appearances of Le Castlevania and Alesso around that time too). After 2017-2018, Simon decided he didn't want to do Payday anymore, as Starbreeze, the publishing company, was kind going through some financial trouble and he wanted to do his own thing (he went on to go do GTFO, very cool game). After Viklund left, they had been kinda test driving a composer by the name of Gustavo Coutinho (don't believe you've heard any of his songs yet, I recommend "Bonebreaker", personally), then they put him in full time, so the rest of the Payday 2 life cycle, ending around 2023 with the song "On the Road" (If you ever do that one, it's one of the few songs with vocals, make sure you do that one) is all his. He also composes for Payday 3 (most people don't like it as much as PD2, so it's not really talked about either). As for the theming, yes, you are correct. For the most part, you can tell what kind of heist it is based on the song. Break the Rules sounding very Scarface? They did a crossover with Scarface, where Tony became a heister (very complicated, don't question it.) and you eliminated the Sosa cartel from the Scarface mansion. This song? You're collecting coke from Christmas presents falling from the sky in a snowy forest. Hilariously, the heist is named "White Christmas". I hope that gives enough context without you having to go out and get the game, which I would recommend. You pick up any bundle edition during a sale and you'll have all the essentials.

I recommend Payback Roulette, I Will Give You My All 2017, Crimewave 2015, On the Road and Evil Eye, all from Payday 2. Payback Roulette, I Will Give You My All 2017 and Evil Eye are more on the EDM side, Crimewave 2015 has a deep af guitar, and On the Road is a goddamn orchestral masterpiece. Honestly the entire soundtrack is incredible and I recommend checking out as much of it as you can.

I see people mentioning pimped out getaway and that's fair. Pimped out getaway is the christmas song in payday 2..... heists. heists is the keyword. What most people are forgetting is that payday 2 not only also has a 12 days of christmas version, but much more importantly, has an ENTIRE ALBUM of unique christmas songs which are all in my christmas rotation along with a newer song that came many years later called today is payday too which is potentially my favorite christmas song. Highly HIGHLY recommend listening to the album or, in the very least, today is payday too, if you're looking for christmas stuff. Everything except 12 days is in game as well, so it's not just an out of game album thing.

Oh great another payday reaction! You should do more of payday, cuz the second game has a massive roster of different soundtracks you can hear in the game. Also this is another in-game version, and then there are the official versions of those soundtracks which pretty much are just a shorter mixed version, those can also have some unique parts like the "HO HO HO" vocal sample in this soundtrack.

you reminded me about a a song that is payday related in that something along the lines of 12 days of payday or so. its basically the chrimbis carol 12 days of christmas but paydayed lol. i thiiiink there is a whole christmas themed album that is payday related iirc.

About the themes of the payday 2 songs: Payday has a lot of heists that have been released over the long lifespan of the game (new heists and update support from 2013-2023 when payday 3 was released). In that time there were lots of holiday events with some of them getting their own heist and music coming with it for the new heist (like for example christmas themed we see here). And there were a few share of collaborations with other games and famous movie/show genres. Thats were whole dlcs with content including music, heists, playable characters and cosmetics were released. Some famous examples of collaborations: Scarface (thats were the scarface song you already listened to came from), John Wick, Hotline Miami, ... Thats why there are some famous themed songs for payday 2. In general the songs are themed according to the heist they came with. Since most of the songs are created specifically from scratch to fit the vibe of the heist.

Yeah people that upload the music of the in game files sometimes miss things, the "HO HO HO" of evil santa just didn't show up, better hear the Qobuz version of these, I think those are shorter tho

Payday: The Heist is the first game in the series. It's really just the origin, Payday 2 is an improvement in every way. PD:TH heists have even been remade in PD:2. Also stay away from PD:3. Sucks ass.
