Had three in a twenty long with a male betta. Sadly the betta passed at about age three. Then the male started singing often and soon had eggs…now I have 13. Ten tadpoles made it out of the tons of eggs. Had no special protection besides plants, wood and rocks. Fed them baby brine shrimp until they could eat their adult food. Love love love these frogs! Highly recommend and love the scape Matt ❤

I have kept 8 of these cute little guys for 2 years now. I ❤ them so much. They sing, try to mate and do funny things all the time. I realized early on though, that one should not have the waterlevel too high bc they can be quite jumpy as they come up for air. One year ago I experienced that one had managed to escape during the night and sadly I found it dead and dry in the morning. 😢 Just so you know. Enjoy your beautiful little frogs. Have had African Dwarf frogs for decades. I've never had a lid on my 75 gallon aquarium and never had one get out, but I keep the water level an inch below the top of the glass and never ahd anything they could climb above the water on. One thing extremely important with frogs is a sponge over the intake if you have a strong filter (I have an eheim) because the frog's legs or body can get sucked against the intake and stuck and then the frog drowns. They are a great addition to any community tank with unaggressive fish species. The frogs you have are typical of what you find at the stores, so emaciated because they aren't fed properly. They will look so much better when they fatten up.

So funny to watch and they always clamber over to the front when they see me. I have them with some other fish and they get along so well. The fish never bother them and occasionally follow them around because they know the frogs get fed first. Love the frogs. I've had them off and on for years. Very entertaining to watch, wait till you hear them singing. Couple warnings: 1)as has been said a lid is very important especially with the wood branches being where they can climb on them near the surface and top. They can climb very well. One of mine climbed onto the top of my hob filter even with a lid. Luckily I caught him quickly they must keep wet. 2) I've had trouble with too many blood worms causing bloat. There are specialized aquatic frog foods out there. Not sure whats available across the pond. I use frozen shrimp(brine and my sis) daphnia, and mine love Hikari Vibra bites-looks like little short red worms. 3)Ive heard sand and smaller rocks can possibly be problems. ADF have bad eyesight and can ingest too much sand/small rocks with their food and become impacted. I don't use sand/small rock and I don't know anyone who has had this problem, but have heard these warnings often. 3) Watch other small critters, fish, shrimp etc. I had an ADF try to eat a otos. Got caught in the throat and the pectoral fins caught like barbs on a fishhook. Turned out sadly for frog and otos.

I can't imagine the loudness of those frogs inside 😂 Although I do have a tree frog living in my bathroom and he ( or she) doesn't make a peep. I have to leave the window open a crack and the frog and a small lizard go in and out. If I could be sure both were outside at the same time, I would shut the window. Because, one day when I'm in the shower and one of them jump and scare me, the heart attack will be real😂😂😂. They like to practice scaring me.

The biodegradable cartridges are super interesting. Personally I use a sponge filter for my frogs, but that's a personal preference more comparable to superstition than anything. I've had my four for about a year now, and our tanks don't look terribly dissimilar! I hope they're doing well. Edit now that I've finished the video: your frogs, like they usually are at the big stores, very skinny in this video. I'm sure by now you've noticed that they've filled out and are a lot more pear-shaped. I've had good luck restoring some condition to new frogs quickly by giving them a good feed or two on some frozen beef heart. Sometimes they can look quite chunky, but as long as they're not ballooning up (which can be dropsy or bloat) it's nothing to worry about. The way that you tell males from females is that females get quite big hips, their bodies get about a third larger than the males. The males also have little white bumps in their front armpits. Those are glands and we think they have something to do with mating but it's not well understood. The males also make a little buzzing sound when they're singing for females. A bit like buzzing magnet toys that you toss up in the air, but fairly soft, not disruptive at all, usually after dark. It was a great mention about how to tell them apart from the big clawed frogs, as that's definitely something that gets mislabled fairly often and can have some pretty disastrous consequences, but I do also want to mention that it's not really advisable to mix either species with fish. There just tend to be a lot of difficulties in feeding, in particular that the frogs eat very slowly and very messily, and it can be quite hard to make sure they get enough food without horribly overfeeding the fish and as a consequence the tank. They can go with some types of snails fairly readily, ramshorns and nerites should be just fine to go in with. Hope this helps you and/or anyone reading it that is interested in getting these. I highly recommend them, they're absolute goofballs and I love mine.

I then discovered how great they are at escaping...I was watching TV when I noticed one hopping down the stairs 😂. Luckily he was saved & I dropped the water level by a couple of inches & sealed the gaps in the lid with draught excluder. Nevertheless, over the next 6 months, they all vanished. Definitely need a lid…we lost one when we had them…climbed up, and jumped out and died about 24 hours later…poor thing severely damaged his internal organs. There was zero info about them then. It was very distressing and we put a screen cover on the tank, which worked great. They are lovely little pets but great climbers. I can see an escape plan using that wood…they are pretty smart little escape artists!

I did laugh when you said boiling the leaves will get rid of any bugs that might be on them 🤔especially as you’d watched the bugs from the rocks swim around the tank 😂

Hahaha yeah we don't worry about those bugs 😂
