I loved Mark's monologue at the end. Saying that he loved her qualities equally was very reminiscent of Mrs. Casey's instructions for recieving compliments during a wellness session. It makes sense now that during the wellness session with Mark that he chose to sculpt a tree. Even severed, being in her presence pulled that emotion from him.

Fun fact about this episode. None of the actors except Trammel knew that the overhead lighting could do that, so the reaction from Mark was 100% genuine. Hehe.

Tramell Tillman, the actor who plays Milchick, is so damn good, and it's one of his first TV roles, too. Portraying a character who's THAT slimy is a real accomplishment, and I hope I see more on him from now on on other shows.
@liljackypaper Жыл бұрын
Not sure I'd call him slimy
@Grizzly_6623 Жыл бұрын
12:16 I think part of Milchick’s sloppiness is that his whole job is to babysit very mature toddlers. Him dealing with that level of naivety at work leads to, ironically, his own naivety. For example expecting a real child to just blindly follow rules because that’s what the “children” at work do.
@redgyrados2000 Жыл бұрын
I really get the feeling that Milchick doesn't have much of a life outside of Lumon, and that's why he expects children to just obey orders the way his workers do
@RacieSmith Жыл бұрын
It seems that the world of Severance is densely populated by childish/naive people. Even the smart people (Keir and the rest of the Egans) who came up with the severance implant, despite their obvious intelligence and craftiness, also seem a bit childish/naive. Just look at how they attempt to welcome new innies to their life, with the most basic and out of touch dialogue in that instructional manual Mark was reading from. Or how they are seemingly inconsistent with their surveillance.

You would think so but look at the numbers. Atla is wildly over saturated but it's my best performing series. Severance is under saturated so I should be cleaning up right? That twist is one of the best "HOLY SHIT" moments I've seen in a show. It hits people so hard because of what it means. And yet, I don't think it's as evil as it first appears. There's more to this show than "creepy cult evil corporation does evil things", I think.
@RacieSmith Жыл бұрын
When I watched that part for the first time, I was like, who is that? Should I recognize her? 😅 I wasn't used to seeing her smile, and she also never wore a hat before, so it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure it out. It also didn't help that I had dismissed Ms. Casey as merely an odd yet unimportant side character. Whoopsie

20:45 I dont think Lumen killed his wife out of some nefarious plan. Instead, I think she was secretly severed and working for the company without telling Mark all this time. And after the car accident, she ended up getting permanently stuck as the "innie." They knew how bad that would look, so they covered it all up. Therefore, the company made it so she "died" in the accident and just keep her at the company at all times. And I think that secret department that Petey was talking about is just all the Severed employees who are broken or damaged for one reason or another, that theyre keeping quiet during all this political controversy over banning the severance procedure. They dont want to give ammunition to their opponents.

Interesting perspective on his ex-wife and the way you guys are talking about them “recruiting” people. Because I always thought his wife wanted to get away from him for good, so rather than a simple divorce, or even severance, she did a fake death AND severance of her own choosing. Then Mark did severance to get over the “death” of his wife and the pain it caused him. They didn’t force her into the program, she chose it, just like Mark chose it.

Why go straight to "they killed his wife"? Surely it's more likely she died in the car crash at stated. And it seems like they might be trying to cheat death ultimately at Lumen. The severance op seems to give life to someone who is dead. But they have no "outie", that outie is probably proper dead still.
