So nice to see you again! You're always too modest! You are such a beautiful sewist. I appreciate the quality of fabric you showcase to go along with the quality of your workwomanship too. You might also enjoy watching Aly Art's work on youtube re Kibbe body types. Don't worry! It's not about the fruit (ie apple, pear etc) It's fundamentally an appreciation of ALL the body types. Kibbe's work was never about changing the way you looked to achieve some standard set out by some arbitrary group but rather an attempt to identify and highlight your attributes. I'm 66 years old and thought I was pretty aware of how I look and what suits me but then I stumbled into Kibbe and everything changed. I never identified with any of the fruit body types but as soon as I learned about the Kibbe ones I saw myself instantly! It was such an epiphany and has helped me to decide what to wear and then of course what to sew. I SO wish I'd known this years ago - it would have saved me a small fortune and it would have supported me to fully appreciate who I am instead of spending far too many years struggling to CHANGE myself! Now I look at items of clothing (patterns and fabrics as a sewist of course :) ) from such a different perspective. THank you for coming back to inspire us with your lovely makes.

Lovely makes ,especially your lovely pink leopard dress which is so pretty and your pink wilder gown blouse. The colours really compliment your colouring. I like how honest you are about tricky bits too and the pressure of sewing at times. Thank you 🙏🤗You’ll be able to design your own fabric with the painting skills you have achieved. 👏🏻

The watercolor Fiskars, pincushion and pins are great. I watched for sewing but I look forward to seeing more watercolors. I have been making cards and have a stamp with many details. I stamp the fine outline in black Versafine ink and use inexpensive metallic watercolors to paint some details. My sister is an artist. It tickles me to watercolor at my level.

Hi Suzie, lovely to see you and really enjoyed watching your vlog 👌💝😁. You made some gorgeous things recently and loved them all. I have the Elle blouse pattern and I've had it for a few years in my stash, but have never made it... I think the tie instructions were putting me off 😋. I adore your blue one and it looks great in that quality linen 💙. Such a pretty Wilder gown top too 💝. I think I've already said on Instagram about how great your Nina Lee dress is and that fabric 😍....no wonder it was selling out quickly 😁. You should definitely persue your artwork, as you have some great skills there Suzie 👌🎨 💕😘

Beautiful colour palette for your makes! They all look terrific on you! I dislike bias binding with a passion. It really hurts my arthritic thumbs and it is so fiddly. Team don't hem when you don't have too for the win! I love skillshare. I dabble in various types of painting and drawing but unlike you, I put way too much pressure on myself. Tried digital drawing last year and Gouache is on my to try list for this year.

I made the spring dress in a viscose and made the cuffs, which unfortunately did not fit the sleeve! I don’t think it was me, I double checked. I chopped some fabric off the top of the cuffs to get them to fit. I like the dress more than I expected, I really was using up some viscose I already had.

Tip for the Wilder top/dress neckline: adjust the neck tie to the length you want and secure in place with invisible hand stitches at the casing edge; add three rows of shirring elastic along the line where to tie is threaded through the collar. The neckline will always be gathered perfectly and not gape, the tie won’t slip about, and collar will stand up just enough to make it look pretty. I also add rows of shirring elastic to the waist and ocassionally lengthen and shir the sleeves. The waist shirring is a must for me - it gives the dress shape. I’m also hacking the sleeve by reshaping with a puffy sleeve (By Hand London Hannah dress sleeve) - I’ll share when it’s done on my Instagram @goldcoaststitch

You’ve made me want to make the wilder top 🙈 It’s really pretty ...but I already have a million patterns 🤓 After my elongated spring dress which I love, (I copied the fabric on the pattern) my husband loves but my daughter doesn’t, what does she know 😄 ...I’m making another, as you know as I’ve been chatting to you on Instagram, so copying your 3 layers 🙂 I had to add 19cms! I’ll make my second tier wider for more gathers. I did the bias all in one go. Folded it over the neck, pinned it a lot then sewed on on in one go. Does any of that make sense? 😄 Rubbish at invisible zips... same with the bias binding kit! Love the needle cord and the colour! This is the end of my review of your blog, which I’ve really really enjoyed 😄
@Threadquarters
@Threadquarters 3 жыл бұрын
Lol thank you for that, glad you enjoyed my rambles 🤣 Oh yes I know what you mean about how you put on your binding, that definitely saves time. Gosh 19cm extra! It IS a short dress originally isn’t it! What fabric are you making your second dress with?

I was so happy to see that you just posted a new video as I got up to do some crochet! I’m making a granny square blanket and I’m so eager to get it finished and I love watching a chatty video about sewing and crafts at the same time 😊 Your makes are lovely as always, so inspiring 👌 I also love to add little details like you did on the nedled cord dress/tunic and I like the lenght it is at the moment. Apart from chrocheting I’m sewing a little waistcoat for my 4 year old grandson, just the final touches left as he’s getting it tomorrow as a birthday present. The whole family is meeting up in our garden as the weather is going to be lovely, it’s been such a long time since we met for obvious reasons and I’m looking forward to that as mad! 🥰 Have a nice weekend you too! ❤️ /Eva (By Juliannie at Insta)

I went to check out the pattern for the Tova top and was sad to see it only goes up to size 14. My covid weight requires at least a16 or 18. 😔 Regarding the tightness across the hips that you mentioned, couldn't you only split the side seams up a few inches? I find that looks quite nice as well. Lovely makes! I love watching your videos! Edit: your water colors are lovely! I used to draw when I was younger and I still have a few things I framed from years ago. I never graduated to painting because I never felt I had the same control with paint that I have with a pencil.
@Threadquarters
@Threadquarters 3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, the sizing is very limited on the Tova 😫 not good. Unfortunately I doubt she will extend them (it’s such an old pattern), but to be honest, I think there are better options out there. It’s just a pretty classic tunic. Good suggestion re the slits. It’s maybe a bit long for side slits at the mo, but if I shorten it a bit I might but slits in, thanks!

Thank you Catherine, so glad you enjoyed the vlog! Oh yes my top, I meant to mention it but forgot! It's the Frankie top by Tilly & The Buttons made with fabric that I used to have in my shop. I had to fiddle with the fit of the top quite a lot so I'm not a big fan of the pattern (for my personal shape anyway, I know others love it).
