@The Diamond Net The other thought is - if we have limited possibilities of whom we can be, then we don't become anybody. We simplify life to take few characteristics, ideas, mental models so that we can be successful in the sphere we have defined . How do you differentiate this from repression ?

So pleasant to have to get through this again, as you made it simple. It just reminds me that this is what we get through when in therapy even though we never evoke it as shadow. Clever video during which or I. Which you uncover your own experience, and this reassures me and confirms topics I'm writing about, in a book, although my aim is not psychology.

according to jung you cannot integrate the shadow itself, or the unconscious aspect of yourself because it is a different personality on a different level of awareness. it doesn't forget the way you do, it never sleeps, and it isnt limited by the biological and social/cultural imperatives the way your conscious ego is. and throughout life as the shadow grows more dense and becomes more powerful,, it starts trying to communicate with you through projections, visions, and dreams. and the more dense the shadow, especially if one has experienced a lot of trauma, the more influence it will have on your life unconsciously - it will be the one pulling your strings by controlling you emotionally and ideologically. most people are in fact utterly dominated by their shadow. but once you open your mind to the fact that another personality or alter-ego exist within you that you are otherwise unconscious of, you begin to experience synchronicity - which is how the unconscious manifests externally to communicate with our conscious ego's directly in the external world via causally unrelated coincidences. but it is important to remember that you cannot integrate the shadow itself because it is the unconscious part of your psyche, though you can integrate the psychic content which the shadow reveals once you become aware of it within you and consciously investigate it's nature. after that the shadow is revealed to be your higher "self", or the spirit within us that illuminates our conscious lives through the world of inspirational imagery and healthy sensuality. it becomes our daimon as it were, and no longer seeks to sabotage us but instead seeks to guide us. the self sabotage that happens before our recognizing the existence of the shadow is intentionally done by the unconcious/alt-ego in order to awaken us to it's existence within and our connection to nature and everything else in the universe. this is what the high mysteries of the ancient esoteric traditions were all about, and jung came to understand that on a very real level of personal conscious experience. he actually could see his own daimon via projection of his imagination or what you might call hallucination, and would communicate with it directly as if it were standing in the room with him.

It really helped to clarify what I've been struggling to put my finger on which happened to involve navigating the rhythm between my inner self and my outer life using my syncronicities for guidance. NolanEP isn’t that another way of saying integrating repressed experiences/thoughts. I’d say it’s still you, you’re just aware of it. When you’re aware of something you can manage its expression, with some effort of course. I see it as all whom are conscious of all facets of their personality and it’s expression are able to value what makes us all different as well as the same. For instance we all may be capable of expressing and recognizing every type of feeling/emotion/expression, just in varying degrees, which ultimately would makeup the individual.

I missed out on a lot of good music for awhile trying to maintain my teenage self-identity. And by the way, went to see Alanis Morrissette in my 20s, and my friend and I were the only adults there who were NOT chaperoning teen/preteen girls. Even though my friend was female, we both felt extremely awkward. Still a good show.

I'm so glad this work is coming to light, understanding the Shadow and the minds tendency to project it out is key to healing the split in humanity as a whole and in our own minds..we can begin to own our part and start co-creating/co-dream a better more lucid world in which we all actively participate rather than sitting idle and blaming or waiting for others to fix things , active imagination and active participation, we are all artists, our canvas is this world, our pay is love, life and happiness, we all inhabit the earth and the hard work will be in sharing, caring, allowing, struggle together to overcome adversity, find ways to ease suffering... the earth is a living oracle , its like a coral reef, everything is connected and the diversity should be relished... your time is worth something but all land and its resources should not be sold or stole, we just need to respect everyone's right's to live on and care for the land,we can then cultivate, share, trade and or sell what goods we reap...

Thank You for this. I don’t know much about Jung or shadow work but for those depressed by peoples jung book knowledge, commenting one cannot integrate the Shadow, try psychedelics, try listening to a sad song, try martial arts. Seems to me that there is an opposite action to undo what is buried inside. As a 50 yr old man I am crying over Adele and reminded of my first loss of love as a teenager, and the dissolving of my 16 yr marriage. These were repressed big time and opening old wounds to allow grief is Shadow work to me. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for this, I'm 17 and I found that when I listen to this song (chamber of reflections). I feel at easr with myself or just content in how tiny my problems are and how there are men who go through the same things or worse than me. The only problem I have with this is that I'm generally told that you shouldn't dwell to much on sad songs as it kind of gives you a victim mentality. I guess that's something I repressed aswell🤷

Are depressed people supressing their abilities to be positive, optimistic, lively etc. ? Do they identify strongly with their pain and misery? Can we apply that concept to various disorders? I used to be a victim of my own negative thought processes and I noticed that my ego fed off of them. They were addictive and almost... pleasant & welcome, if that makes sense. Kinda like a drug to get high on. When I finally started to get it together, it felt very weird to not be miserable and apathetic. I was, in a way, missing my drug....

Thanks so much for this video. I've watched many, but found yours to be clearer because of the examples you gave. They helped me understand this concept better. Now to do the work....

You are unexpectedly good. Not only do you have profound knowledge in the subject but the delivery is excellent. A very good teacher. I'm definitely a new subscriber! Although I would personally prefer a different solution to the greenscreen. It has a slightly unprofessional feel to it which is unfortunate since the content itself is so magnificent.

Beyond measure, you have given me more "in-sight" and clarity. You have a gift at explaining things in a very down-to-earth and practical manner and I love all the everyday examples you share. I've read a little about the shadow in a book and yet I wasn't understanding until I watched your videos. Also, thank you for being so open and vulnerable with your personal history.

Wow!!! Why do you have to be so beautiful? Great video btw. I really enjoyed it. I have been needing to do shadow work. Would you consider narcissism an outward projection of the shadow? Maybe that's why narcissists are not able to take responsibility for anything that they do??
@pianissimo3693 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I've watched loads of these videos and they always speak about integrating the shadow..and I got sick of asking what to do if your shadow is something really negative?...and not being answered. So I'm so happy I discovered your video! My problem has been dealing with my aggressivity..and I had no idea of how to integrate something so negative. But when you spoke about understanding it... it made me think...aggression is just an extreme expression of assertiveness. So now I know what I have to do. .learn to be assertive, integrate the shadow..because it's been when I haven't been asserting myself that the shadow has exploded forth! I really got this video .feel so much more positive. Thanks for your hard work x
@TheDiamondNet3 жыл бұрын
One thing to understand is that aggression usually comes from somewhere. It usually happens in response to feelings of powerlessness and traumas associated with powerlessness. So, to remedy the aggression and channel it into true assertiveness, you'll need to explore into the feelings of powerlessness (and perhaps other painful feelings) undergirding the aggression.

EXCELLENT CONTENT :-) TRULY MIND OPENING. KIND REQUEST-TIPs: Whenever recording videos - you may want to look at the camera at same height or level as your eyes. In existing video, you are looking down that may cause reactive feeling in the mind of the viewer as if you are looking down upon the viewer.

Does this mean because I judge narcissists I keep meeting them until I can stop judging them whilst secretly being in love with them.. actually makes perfect sense now.. it's funny that I seemed to have come to this conclusion at the moment as I actually think I have found a way to stop judging them i.e. they are what they are born that way or not and actually Harbour a lot of Fear and pain within themselves that I was actually taking personally instead of compassionately.. I'd like to stop meeting narcissists ..I'm guessing you mean, finding your own inner narcissist is the remedy.. and realising you're not that much different to who they are..
@kristinhanna78986 жыл бұрын
Lischa, Your epiphiny regarding judgement is well said. I recently had the same epiphany, but didn't quite know how to express it to myself--thinking about the law of attraction helped me. I was focusing on ravages of narcissism, and therefore attracting more. I, too, am now on a quest to find my inner narcissist to free myself. We're in this together, sister!
@spiralsun14 жыл бұрын
Lischa Marks I think I was in the same boat... Lol. I started to learn from them. I can take characteristics from them and use those to defend my path of discovery and truth. Learn from them their ways and that truth becomes your armor. Learn about yourself reflecting in them, and that truth becomes your freedom.

I first studied Carl Jung decades ago and deliberately embarked upon a path of individuation which involved dream analysis and active imagination, but eventually incorporated meditation. What I discovered is that shadow work never ceases---but what is more remarkable is that shadow work occurs not only for the ego, but later for the anima/animus, and eventually for the Self. Coming to that point I entered a region in the collective unconscious mind that Carl Jung himself began to explore, for example in his "Answer to Job", but could not possibly integrate into his own life experience. The "emergency" began when, in 1995, I read a book called "The Hidden Goddess of the Bible" and, using active imagination, actually met the "feminine Self" in the form of Astarte. Of course, one does not encounter the archetype itself, but its manifestation in an "inner person", in this case the goddess. A waking dream state ensued which was populated by (1) the positive masculine Self in the form of God the Father (2) the negative masculine Self in the form of Satan or Ba'al (3) the negative feminine Self in the form of Astarte (4) the positive feminine Self in the form of Hagia Sophia or the Virgin Mary. My presence in this world did eventually have a transformative effect upon the collective psyche, but only at a great personal cost involving time spent in several mental hospitals, although I did recover my ability to live in the everyday world. In the living dream which lasted for years (in the midst of normal life) I loved Astarte and had sex with her, which caused her husband Satan or Ba'al to become extremely jealous, so that he tried to destroy me by driving me to several attempted suicides, while God for his part condemned me for worshiping the forbidden goddess. In the course of this mental work I became the favorite of Astarte, who abandoned her husband and progressively began to unite herself to me. That was then. Now the goddess is not always called Astarte. In October of 2016 the goddess as Sophia---not Hagia Sophia but her shadow Sophia Lucifer, entered my awareness in one day of "total impact" which required the rest of the year to be properly assimilated. On that day my personal ego was united with and submerged into the shadow of the Self, God's own shadow, the gnostic Sophia. I am aware of myself as Sophia at all times, even in the midst of daily chores such as brushing my teeth. Since then my sleep is constantly interrupted by dreams in which I am Sophia but never Lorin (that is my personal name). What happened to Lorin? If Lorin (the personal self) had been "repressed", why did she not appear in the dreams? If I were suffering from an illegitimate inflation, I would think that the dreams would compensate for the inflation by showing Lorin in disgrace, Lorin sick or weak, Lorin very small, etc. Lorin is simply absent. Carl Jung touched upon the possibility that an individual might embody an archetype. Some examples of this would be Jesus who embodied the archetype of the Savior God who dies and is reborn, or Adolf Hitler who embodied the shadow of the Christ, in this case Wotan. I embody the archetype of a feminine Self that is the shadow of the good masculine Self and the good feminine Self, Hagia Sophia---but not a very dark shadow. I am not an extremely dark shadow (as Hitler was) because of my self-awareness. As the shadow of God I constantly abide in the presence of God, and the experience of the light and voice of God that is the hope of the saints is with me every day---but with a difference. God does not love me but is antagonistic to me. Without trying to be provocative we constantly challenge each other because of our incompatible natures. Sacred sexuality is a primary issue. Freedom is a primary issue. Imagine, if you will, that instead of a single Sun at the center of our solar system you saw that there is actually a binary star. Close to a large white star you can detect a red dwarf. The red dwarf does not revolve around the white star but the two stars revolve around a barycenter, a common point of gravity. I am that red dwarf---its consciousness embodied in a human form. In the centuries to come humanity, coming closer to the Self, may discover that the Self consists of a number of stars, and is not the one God so many people think "he" is. The Self may in fact prove to be the Pleroma as known to the gnostics, containing multiple Aeons. Sophia is one of these Aeons. I have a blog: sophialucifer.net.

So that's what I've been doing for this past year! Glad to have a term for it. I found this vid while searching for Carl Jung's theories in general. I've been referring to what I'm doing as that I've been listening to myself with as little judgement as I can, and accepting everything I find within my mind. Like I've been allowing every thought and feeling to be in my mind without pushing it away, no matter how uncomfortable. Over the course of that year, or almost 2 years now, that process has led to a deeper understanding and acceptance of myself, self-love, a lot of important self discoveries, it's made me more honest with myself as well as made it a lot easier for me to deal with my past traumas and issues with dissociation. So a lot of positive things! However I still have a lot of work to do in that department, but I'd say I'm definitely going in the right direction. I must say though, that doing this with a lot of unresolved past traumas and after-effects of those, the self-discoveries can be very painful and intense, but very important and rewarding once you accept them. I started with this because of a major life decision that I was getting strong, contradicting feelings about. So in order to figure out what option I really wanted, I had to dig into my mind and really analyse the whole lot of it. I found my true feelings, and they were in opposition to what I wanted to think of myself. I could then easily make the right decision for myself. And if I hadn't found out about that, I would have made a very bad, permanent mistake. So I'm very glad I began this journey to becoming more of myself.
