Shadowheart defending me from hot vampire man 🥰

Finally trying out this Baldur's Gate 3 patch with the new Paladin class and noticed there's some new interactions! (Love that.) I noticed some face texture improvements on the companions as well. That's pretty neat. Getting a solid 100 fps with ultra graphics with my RTX 3070 laptop as well, that wasn't possible before LOL.

Eh... These cutscenes look so lifeless and weird. I know it takes a lot of budget and work but at least give the main character a voice dammit.

They're working on motion capping on the characters. The main character only has a more prominent voice if you're playing coop. I think it was a creative choice for players to role play their character? Not sure

@@jenmygem it is a common complaint about the newer RPGs with voiced player characters that it takes away the player's choice and defines their character for them by giving them a set voice, tone, emotional range, etc. You simply can't have a voiced main character that will please everyone, you either end up with one that sounds too timid/generic and nobody really likes them, or you end up with a character that's too defined, that some people are gonna love and others will not. Either way, those characters rarely feel like YOUR characters. Given the incredibly large amount of races, classes, backgrounds and alignments that BG3 will allow, giving the main character just one voice (ok, two for each gender) was never going to work out. And the game is too big to hire a big number of voice actors for the main character because that would be a extreme amount of voice work on top of what is already a huge undertaking from their side. And in the end, even that wouldn't please everyone's vision for their character. I'd say they made the right choice in avoiding it. BG3 plays just fine with an unvoiced main character.

@@Veloziraptor111 Yes.. too many races... too many different backgrounds.. and male/female option... even if they only did 3 male and 3 female voice versions... it would need a tremendous amount of voice over...

You havent played many modern games (minus FF16, Clive's got a real good voice actually) where the main character speaks have you? Silent Protag is a lost art these days.
