I've been watching launches since Mercury. Yeah, I'm that old. This was the most spectacular launch event ever. When the booster came in so fast I thought it was going to slam into the ground and then the engines kicked in and it just shuffled on over to the launch pad and, well, parked. Breathtaking.

And people thought the chinese were gonna overtake SpaceX. Not a chance. SpaceX is still the forerunner by far when it comes to development of interplanetary missions, and reusability of vehicles.

Not sure if a comment has mentioned it. But the fire afterwards is normal. They're venting gas and that gas is on fire. Not a big deal. Also, while it was coming down and you see the big puffs of smoke. Also normal. They went gas to keep the turbo fans running. So it's realeasing puffs of gas out of vents to keep the fans spooled up.

The white spaces in the heat shield were not missing tiles. They were there before launch. It's alternate heat shield materials they were testing.
@That_Awesome_Guy117 күн бұрын
I believe they were actually aluminum tiles placed to test the temperature the heat shield got at that location because aluminum melts when stainless steel starts to become weak. Since they didn't melt they now know the heat shield tiles are not needed in that area which is good because that's the area they need empty for catching ships at the tower.

I think nothing exploded there. Everthing went as intended. The transition to 3 Engines is a planed procedure... if they keep the others running, it would go back the other way to space again... and the flames is just the outgasing at the flameout... but anyway... the possebility that something of the outer engines exploded is there indeed, because they get fed in a different way than the inner 3 engines. When the outer Engine would run out of fuel or oxygen, the turbopumps would overspin and explode, yes! We´ll find out and try AGAIN i guess ;)
