@mrcaterpillow99263 жыл бұрын
I think that has something to do with how American investors are. A lot of it, "I am handing out my money to make money. You need this money, take it. Or we are done" there's not a lot of leeway with it. They don't want to give out a nice offer only to be told no.
@YUDI_Acoustic2 жыл бұрын
I will say that the American sharks will typically only get very upset if they offer the initial ask and they still start looking around.

I think the way the business owners present it is always important. This guys ‘out of respect for the other sharks i’d like to hear what they have to say’ is a good way of putting it because it doesn’t make you seem ungrateful for their offer. Saying ‘thanks for the offer but i’d like to hear what everyone else has to say’ makes you seem like you want a better deal but are hanging onto that one in case nobody else offers anything better. Turns the shark into a lifeline rather than an offer they actually want, which isn’t a good idea.

He made a brilliant point about the public perception of tire shops and the way female customers will respond. Big tire brands with their own corporate shops often feel like a pressurey (ha) environment where customers, especially lots of female ones, are concerned about being upsold, either in a predatory way or even if the recommendations are since it can still be annoying to deal with. A mobile business, where by nature you're not waiting around for hours and they can't be like "oh no your control arm bushing spring link is corroded, we have to redo your whole suspension" or something ... That just feels safer and less exhausting for a lot of people to engage with. I think that's the main differentiator between his brand and any mobile offering a big tire shop brand might put out.

The interesting thing between Australian Shark Tank, British Dragon's Den and USA Shark tank is on the Australian and British versions the entrepreneur gets to hear all offers. In the USA a shark like Mark Cuban can put a clock on the offer or indicate they aren't allowed to hear other offers. In Australia and the UK that would likely appear unfair to audiences and so the producers require that all offers that the sharks are willing to make are in fact made.

I always say the same bullshit "somebody with more money could do what you're doing but bigger". But it rarely works like that. If you're the first to market you have a serious competitive advantage, and second the bigger guys entering a new market tends to expand the overall size of that market not eat market share from another founding company. Take Tesla for example, constantly told EVs don't work and if it does the bigger guys will step in and take all the relatively small EV market share. But as we saw, something needs to work really well for years before big players start actually paying attention which means you'll be far ahead and when the bigger players finally released their products it didn't eat into Teslas sales it expanded the overall size of the market.
@andikelana13643 жыл бұрын
I know right! They underestimate the power of being the first into market. But they're also right on having as many as capital to speed the business up. Being the first also has pretty high risk from being coppied by the copycats. Especially products easily manufactured.

Copying social media features is probably the easiest to do and implement for a big company. FB didn't for ~2years as Snap was wildly popular and kept growing. Then they tried to buy it still didn't copy right away, only after they were denied the right to buy and waited did they finally copy them and add stories, YT took another year or so after that to finally add stories. Even with something that's as easy to copy as a SM feature Snapchat went 4 years and saw massive success before being copied.

I love this idea. I change my own tires, but my mother is 70 years old and 4'11". She can't change her own tire, and she has to drive through high crime areas in the dark. I got her a can of fix-a-flat, which tire shops hate because it's more time consuming and expensive to clean out, but if it can get her out of a bad situation in 2 minutes, it's worth it. You can get a flat tire on the first day you buy a car. Nails don't care how new your tires are (especially around construction sites).
@denisflores3223 жыл бұрын
The major flaw in this, and which was not covered, is the suppply of the tyres. The variety of product is huge and would require a large central warehouse or at least a contract with the manufacturers. The risk of existing tyre businesses cutting off his supply is huge.

@@chrisburn7178 ats have had vans since the early 2000's maybe before, due to them doing alot of lorry and also contract aswell as retail. I know kwikfit had vans around 10 years ago too

"I can't get passionate about tyres" When one of them blows out, you'll feel passionate alright, cause as soon as you get the spare on, you'll be feeling like a million bucks, haha!
