My ex left to go chase the streets. I never lost a second of sleep. 2 hours after the divorce papers were signed, she called me, and she was BAWLING into the phone as she apologized. I could practically feel her tears thru the phone! But that didn't faze me one bit. That night, I took myself out for a nice meal, came home, and smiled at my new peace.

When my mother wanted to divorce my father, even though he's a great guy and loving father, she wouldn't listen to anything I said. I even offered to pay for them to go to marriage counseling, but she insisted that divorce was the only thing that would make her happy. I advised Dad to let her go, and he did. Now she keeps crying to me about how Dad left us for a younger girlfriend, and I keep reminding her how she wanted nothing to do with him. Now that he's found someone who makes him happy, she's all emotional and bad-mouths my dad, even though he did nothing but take care of her needs like a slave for 20 years. It's just been a whirlwind of emotions.

I'm twice divorced, first wife after 13 years. She made sure to use Facebook to reconnect with her past before moving me from the West coast to the East coast where her family is then hitting me with the divorce. Some women are truly evil, they don't just leave but go out of their way to inflict as much damage as possible! The second divorce was right after I called her out on her excessive drinking and cheating, she got an order of protection lying about not feeling safe so the sheriff's would remove me in order to take over my apartment. I don't know how they live with themselves and feel that they are in the right!

She was never happy. Not before her marriage, not during her marriage, not during her divorce, not after her divorce. And she never will be happy. Its not in her personality to be happy. The reason "he was so toxic" wasn't on him. Her unhappiness made him respond in such a way. Most men want their woman to be happy and will do what he can to make her that way. But no matter he did, it was never enough! He was always wrong when it came to making her happy. Eventually he responded as one does when he can only ever fail: he stopped trying. After a while, its easier to simply STOP TRYING, than it is to NEVER SUCCEED. Her fate, with respect to her happiness, is sealed. She will forever be miserable.

She’s the one expecting there to be some kind of severing with the son too when the truth is the son will see “both” his parents be happier (really just his dad) living their separate and free lives. Kids aren’t stupid. They see when parents are fighting and one permanently sleeps on the couch. They can see that their parents are miserable, just staying together for the kids, and many don’t want to be the reason for the misery.
