Since we're just a day or two out from the release of She-Hulk Attorney At Law, which I'm sure will be a hilariously entertaining legal comedy, I thought I'd take a look at some of the clips that have been released so far, so we can all bask in the glow of comedy gold.

Steve being a virgin is perfectly in line with his character. He's a more traditional man from the 1940s where sex outside of marriage was seen as scandalous. Back then when going on dates couples would even have a chaperone or stay in more public places to make sure couples kept it PG. He always has loved Peggy so he's definitely the type of guy to keep his V card for the woman he truly loves and ends up marrying which is Peggy Carter.

Banner/Hulk as a character: A brilliant scientist that had a tragic accident that could've killed him, but instead, it made him into a monster he couldn't control. Gave him a side that even his friends had to worry about. A side, that at any time could put his loved ones at risk and destroy entire cities and sometimes even did. Tormented, he tried to shoot himself but transformed before the bullet went through his head. He spent years learning to deal with it, control it, accept it, perfect it and eventually found a way to incorporate it to himself and his own identity. Imagine that, the Smart Hulk form that reduces his power in favor of balance wasn't as strong as other times he's been on screen... She didn't "master" anything, she just didn't have to find balance like Bruce did. All his training was based on that. Look at the Hulk Clap; his was way more powerful, and she couldn't do it. She instead figured out a multi-clap version that uses more sound over raw force. I swear everyone wants to get on here and yell before actually thinking.

The scenes where they were “training” together and Hulk, *THE Hulk* got outdone at every physical activity by her literally gave me emotional, spiritual and physical pain. Edit: Ok so apparently Hulk was holding back against her and arguably that makes the scene a lot better but then only including those specific scenes in the trailer makes it clear what kind of audience they were trying to appeal to and it makes me upset. And honestly, I'm mostly just upset about the fact that they've basically completely ruined Hulk's character at this point, like any nuance that Bruce and Hulk had together is just gone with the birth of Prof. Hulk who is supposedly a mix of both the minds and totally not just Bruce in Hulk's body. His character has so much potential still but they're already trying to “replace” him with a character we don't even know or care much about.

Like being catcalled. They only wish to be attractive enough for that to happen. Which they're not. (The writer I mean, not the actress) and I may add, that anyone who have endured real issues like violence, poverty, being exploited in a job that pay poorly without any choice because they needed money, lost loved one, or had life threatening health issues, are usually very humble and based people. As for people like she hulk, I doubt she even paid for her studies herself by working hard, know what it's like to be hungry. If being mansplained or catcalled is the closest she have been to hardship in her life, she is lucky to have a very easy life.

Watched the first episode, and She Hulk is the definition of a "Mary Sue." She is completely without flaw in any way, there was no sacrifice to become the "hero," and there is nothing for her to overcome because she just magically can do everything perfect. In fact, the show goes as far to explain WHY she does everything better as it simply being BECAUSE she is a woman. Bleh. Hulk trying to help her learn to control her new powers is then relegated to "mansplaining" because apparently she knows more about being a Hulk in two days than the actual hulk learned in 15 years. And of course it takes every opportunity to degrade every single male character introduced, including Steve Rogers who doesn't have a damn thing to do with the show.

Sounds like you took what happened on screen the wrong way. Almost like you already had a notion about the show before watching it. Its not because she's a woman, the genetic sequence that makes her compatible in a different way isn't related to their gender. The main reason she "does things better" is because she didn't have the whole split personality thing, and Bruce's experience as Hulk mostly deals with that. Its shaped his entire view of it, and that bias played out on how he treated her. The two days of training was trying to be about balance when she already had that, which is why it looked easy for her. I'd point out during their fight, his clap was bigger and more powerful, and she failed to replicate it, but figured out a way to make smaller multi-claps effective. Also, she never stated him being a virgin was bad, or making fun of it. It was simply a theory because he's a celebrity and nobody knows about him (though like most celebrities the obvious answer was yes). Hell, Chris Evans mentioned the virginity thing in interviews in 2015, so its nothing new and has been talked about many times IRL and in the MCU.

@@hemmydall "Sounds like you took what happened on screen the wrong way. Almost like you already had a notion about the show before watching it." Nope. I went into it knowing NOTHING, and that is what I observed. She is portrayed as flawless, with no sacrifice to become the hero and nothing to overcome... that is quite literally the definition of a Mary Sue: "a type of fictional character, usually a young woman, who is portrayed as unrealistically free of weaknesses." There is a version of this for men called a Gary Stu... so no, it has nothing to do with bias and everything to do with poor writing and zero character development. All of these kinds of movies (and most literature going back to mythology) are just rehashing the hero's journey, and they missed most of the steps along the way. That is objective criticism. "Its not because she's a woman, the genetic sequence that makes her compatible in a different way isn't related to their gender. The main reason she "does things better" is because she didn't have the whole split personality thing, and Bruce's experience as Hulk mostly deals with that." I'm referring to her being able to control her anger... which is why she was taken to Mexico and Brue doesn't want her to leave. The genetic thing I can accept as a premise, even if it is lazy writing that means she doesn't have to go through all the same trials and character development Bruce did to get to the point where he is now. The challenge she would have had to overcome was controlling her anger, and when Bruce laid this out for her she said: "Here's the thing Bruce, I'm great at controlling my anger. I do it all the time; when I'm catcalled in the street, when incompetent men explain my own area of expertise to me, I do it pretty much every day because if I don't I will get called emotional, or difficult, or might just literally get murdered. So I'm an expert at controlling my anger because I do it infinitely more than you." So because she is a woman and has to deal with catcalling and mansplaining she is better at controlling her anger. Even though Bruce lost his first love when an experiment went wrong and turned him into a monster who killed several people, which led to him being hunted relentlessly by his own government, led by the father of the woman he loved, who ended up losing everything and everyone he cared about and had his entire life ripped away from him and had to go into hiding for years, and then had to fight several wars including threats from alien life, then got lost in space for years while the Hulk took over and he was trapped powerless inside his own body, while he was forced to fight as a gladiator, then had to fight in another war, losing the 2nd love of his life in the process (let alone watching many of his friends die that they were able to bring back) and severely injuring his arm in the process that has just NOW healed as this story is taking place. It is completely tone deaf, insulting, and laughable. You don't think MAYBE Bruce might have more reason to be angry?! There is no excuse for this shit and anyone who defends this is a complete imbecile. So the ONLY challenge she is forced to overcome she is magically better at in two days than the actual Hulk was in 15 years! Oh, and let's not pretend for one second that the implication that a man in his late thirties has never had sex is not a negative one. You are reaching here, grasping desperately at straws to defend this nonsense like a good consoomer to justify this trash. He wasn't even in the show and they made him the butt of a joke! Why are they insistent upon tearing down legacy male characters as if that makes the new female replacements more likeable? We saw the same thing recently with Thor and with Loki, and it pisses the fans of these characters off and makes them hate the new ones. Oh, and by the way, in the show they mentioned catcalling and even had a scene of men trying to hit on a woman and making her uncomfortable to show that men are bad (seriously, besides Bruce there is not a single positive depiction of a male shown, and he was constantly being shown up).... and then in the end credits she objectifies Rogers by talking about his ass! Talk about hypocrisy. You can have one or the other, but putting them together and in the same episode is oblivious. This episode was dogshit. The writing was dog shit. The character development was dog shit. The comedy was dog shit. The constant pandering to feminism was dog shit. The CGI was dogshit. This is CW level garbage and considering that by the end of phase two they already grossed over $10 billion just at the box office isn't it reasonable to expect something of better quality?

Iron Man - the 1st one - told a great story. It had a great character arc and development while telling a fully-contained story. The man is a hero who's done unbelievable things, a beacon of morality and dignity, who's left an enormous mark on the history of this world. There are so many things a lawyer could be discussing with Steve's friend: his decision to go against Ross and Tony, the legal persecution he suffered, even his legal stand as a man who was asleep for 70 years. Like, anything that would tell me she is a lawyer and interested in law things, and could also tell me how much she, a character from within this world, understands the intricacies of the stories told before. Instead she chooses to talk about his sex life. Oh well. Can't wait to see this show now.

You're not an adult but a child unless you banged at least 5 women or in the case of the ladies, in a single day you can't even count your partners in two hands! I'm starting to get reminded of "The 40 year old virgin" where when it was out, those who never watched it assumed it was "mocking" virginity when in reality it was mocking those who "mocked" the concepts of virginity and what you described Raylan! With the titled character being the most mature one in the cast while his horn dog friends DESPITE being married still acting like frat boys and not acting their age at ALL! You'd wonder if they'd be shocked they were accused of cheating with how they constantly wolf weasel and act like horny teenagers that it's impossible NOT to believe they'd cross the line! Plus the ones who mock like that tend to be the most pathetic ones dogging on someone greater then they are by mocking "something" of them that can be seen as admirable as pathetic so they can tell themselves "oh that person is great, grand and beyond a pleb like me.....but their a virgin so I'm still better" as they continue to die inside more and more

They've abandond any and all deeper values, they know nothing of human virtue - which is apparent when they laugh at the paragon of justice and decency that is Captain America for being a virgin - which was also a virtue during his times but is considered a flaw during ours, for whatever fucking reason. Yup. Not only that, those people now wonder why there aren't more comic book heroes who are black, female, gay, whatever--well, that's because straight white men were the dominant audience and creative force for comics, with all the other groups mocking and belittling them for it; why would there be a proportionate number of characters with these different demographics, then? This is like asking why rappers don't make more songs about corporate accountants.

It wasn't until I saw the trailers for She-Hulk that I realised something: the major problem with the MCU now is that every character has to be funny. No longer are jokes reduced to characters like Stark who regularly joked because it made sense for the character (Stark was a naraccist, narcassists deflect with humour). Now every single character needs to be the 'funny one' and always make quips.

It literally used to just be Tony Stark out of the mains who made jokes. Thor was funny because of his personality, not because he made jokes. But then characters like Star Lord, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, Peter Parker, even fucking Captain Marvel were introduced and they were all one-line quippers too. The first two especially just felt like B-rate Tony Stark. I miss when their characters actually HAD character. Even every side character now has to be funny. I don't get it. Why does everyone need to be funny? Even in the new Thor, characters who we know are meant to be stoic and serious like Nebula and Jane Foster are acting like comedy goons. It's weird.

Let's not forget that Hollywood execs are deeply disconnected with reality. They have a stranglehold on main film and TV, which means they have a big influence on portraying a narrative that isn't necessarily what most average people want, nor agree with. Many are seeing through the BS, but some are not and they are even subliminally letting these messages sink in. Art imitates life or life imitates art or both? The thing is Hollywood narratives should not be seen as what most people think or should think. Hollywood has deep connections to the CIA and propaganda tactics. This reminds me of Orwell's 1984 with the messages: War is Peace / Freedom is Slavery / Ignorance is Strength. They just keep putting out this illogical message and if they say it enough they hope people will just accept it. Unfortunately, propaganda does work. So it is up to every one of us to help each other see through the smoke and get to the truth, so we all do better.

You know, when Dante's famous "Inferno" was labeled as "the divine comedy", it wasn't because it was ment to be extremely, or even REMOTELY, funny. It was named so because back then, comedy was a genre that was accessible for all people to read, poor and rich alike, because Dante wanted all sorts of people to be able to read his work. Seeing all the negative reviews of this show so far, including my own impression of all the scenes from the show that I checked out for myself...yeah, it does feel like walking into hell...a hell of misandry, false female empowerment, and the butchering of not one, but TWO major and beloved Marvel characters...may this woke dumpster fire burn in hell itself.

Classic She-Hulk was the original Deadpool. She was a bombshell, she knew she was, and she loved that she was, so she’d use that fact to her advantage whenever she wanted, even to sell comics by wearing revealing costumes on the front covers, while saying “This is what the fans want, I suppose”. But she was also 3 dimensional, because while she wasn’t as strong as the hulk, this was balanced by the fact that she didn’t have an alter ego, which, actually caused her an immense amount of guilt, as she constantly had to wonder why she was blessed, but Bruce was cursed. Her determination to find a cure for her cousin, while also using her powers to help in deadly situations where she could, all while using her lawyer skills to defend Bruce legally, and help actual, non-super people, made her one of the most dynamic, likable, and endearing characters that Marvel had to offer. Combine that with her initial run also having a healthy dose of 4th wall breaking before Deadpool made it his shtick, and it’s no wonder why she became almost as popular as her roid-rage cousin. But, this new show, and even modern comics, completely misunderstand almost all of these aspects of her character. Now, yes, the 4th wall breaks haven’t really been part of her character for a while now, but the rest of what I explained is still really interesting and cool. But in this show, Bruce just kinda… Stopped having to deal with the alter ego thing. And even if the hulk does come back during the events of this show, it’ll be too late. Because She-Hulk won’t have to deal with the guilt of always having been in control, while Bruce just doesn’t have that luxury. She’ll have gotten her powers and mastered them, all while Bruce doesn’t really have much to worry about in terms of having two personas. It really removes that pivotal aspect of She-Hulk’s character, where she’s thankful for Bruce saving her life, so she dedicates her life to making sure he can one day live at least semi-normally, like she can. By having Bruce be normal during the majority of her time coming to terms with her new powers, just means that should Bruce ever split into two again, it just won’t have the same weight, because She-Hulk will already have an answer to the question “Can I even help Bruce?“, because the answer is yes, as he was fine for a long time. It just really removes one of the character’s most endearing aspects. And then of course there’s the sexuality aspect. I can’t lie and say that this She-Hulk won’t appeal to a lot of modern men who want a dommy mommy GF, but the original She-Hulk was that, and more. This She-Hulk is just buff, which, again, yeah, absolutely will appeal to a lot of modern men’s desires, but classic She-Hulk was muscular, while also being built like a classic comic bombshell. She could fit the dommy mommy roll, while also being the girl next door, the quick-witted lawyer with her hair tied up, and so many other kink- I mean, “aspects of her character”. This show has stripped her down so that she can now only really appeal to people who share anime tomboy abs on discord. Which, yeah, I’m one of those guys, but I also like bimbos. And I’m not even going to get into the modern comics, because they’re so bad, that even the self-awareness lacking writers at modern marvel comics had to have Deadpool literally ask their version of She-Hulk “Uh, hey, are you alright? You used to be fun. You were like… Me, before I was me. What happened to that?” And they just don’t answer Deadpool’s genuinely good question, and proceed with their story like that genuinely good question doesn’t matter. So yeah, even if the show was good, which it probably won’t be, because Phase 4 is garbage, then it would still be disappointing, because it’s stripped She-Hulk of everything about her character that doesn’t align with modern Hollywood standards, and the current MCU Hulk is just undermining any depth she could still potentially have as a character, by not being the classic duo-personality hulk, to give her something to instead feel guilty for, and something to strive for, that being to either cure Bruce, or something that will allow him to live normally.

My only gripe with that rant is characterizing the Hulk as only having two personalities. Sure, there's Banner on the one side, but the big green dude sometimes thinks of himself as Banner (but often has an aberrant personality anyway), there's the rage-monster, there's the child-like Hulk, and there's the personality known most often as 'Joe Fixit' who is merely intelligent but views the baseline Banner as a foolish sap. Not an exhaustive list, of course, and different writers telling different stories have changed all of them from time to time. The gripping hand, though, is that all of them represent a loss of control for Banner in exchange for the Hulk's power.

@jasongarcia8893
@jasongarcia8893 2 жыл бұрын
@@O1OO1O1 Although I think women should vote, the suffragettes were still pretty bad. They firebombed churches and also hated men. Why do women need paid maternity leave? Women marry men who make more money than them, so it's not like they need it. How are you gonna force a company to pay you for not working for months? That's stupid. It should be a company's choice. Not only that, but lots of women opt to just never come back to the workforce. Kind of sucks if your the company. They already do. They did in the past to. The idea that a woman and a man ever did the exact same job and the woman was just paid less is not real. Women made less money and continue to make less money because they work less hours, take more time off, and work in professions that pay less. Female doctors get paid less than Male doctors because Female doctors usually become pediatricians, and male doctors become surgeons. Even in under the same job title, women specialize in fields that earn less money. Even before the civil rights act, if women were paid less for the exact same work, you'd expect to find companies hiring mostly women to cut labor costs. Yet historically, men have dominated the workforce. I'm sure there was some discrimination, but it is most definitely a smaller variable than people are willing to admit. Well dude, that'll never happen. Because of the nature of praternity men evolved a sense of disgust of promiscuos women. Men need to kow that they are the father, and promiscuos women make it difficult to know. Women don't have the same aversion to promiscous men. Even women know that promiscous women are bad for men. If you ask a woman if she'd rather have her son marry a virgin or a woman with a body count of 15, what do you think she'd say? We all know deep down. She wants to be sure the baby is her grandkid. Even women call each other sluts when competing for the same man. Comparing women in the 50s to slaves is the biggest meme i've ever seen. A lot of worker's rights stuff goes too far to be frank. Animal rights is not relevant to this. I also said that feminism is fueled by female neuroticism because women really are more neurotic. It's not just me being insulting. The idea that women were ever oppressed is a meme. Women even expected men to provide for them. Still do in fact, cause you can't change human nature. Feminism has always been a manifestation of penis-envy.

Weirdly enough, I feel like every project that came out had the potential to really shift the tone for the mcu going forward, but the reason each one fell flat is because Disney is a half-measure. They play with the idea of tackling darker and more serious subject matter and the tone for those stories, but it ultimately always is just that "playing with the idea" but never truly embracing or walking in it. They always fake out and leave the audience with no real sense of urgency, no real sense of direction, no real sense of consequence, and therefore, no real sense of investment in the events that transpire.

They literally just admitted publicly that when it came time to write the show they realized they had no idea how to write a legal show or how to write anything really. Its like a Disney exec got drunk wandered down to the local laundromat and said "any cat ladies need a job writing a Marvel show"

It’s funny to me because I thought Cap being a virgin kinda stayed true to his relationship with Peggy in the movie, how even though he can literally get with anyone because of how he looks he’s still waiting for the right person. I have no clue what they’re trying to do with him.

This is such a good point. And it’s ridiculous how obsessed they were with that specific topic, Jen mentioned it like 3 times in this episode alone

@@thebatman. She says she hates being cat-called, but then spends a lot of time degrading a man's value and esteem down to his perceived sexuality. She's "sad" he may have died a virgin, and then cheers with delight that he "fu-". Regardless of whether he had sex or not, it was important that she knew a man she had never met before was sexual, but then is angered that random men will call out to her basically signally to her that they are sexual beings and find her attractive, albeit in a vulgar way. Like, are the writers really not smart enough to realize they are contributing to the very culture they supposedly hate so much?

It's not him, specifically. They're trying to tear down ALL men. In his era, men were just as likely to wait for "the one" as women were - things only changed when better birth control became available. Then women suddenly started to think sleeping around was a GOOD thing, for some reason, and started making fun of men who hadn't slept around. You can see some of this in "Grease", where it's actually talked about from both sides (the girls among themselves, and the guys among themselves). Today, there's actually a movement back to having LESS sex before marriage, and some folks are absolutely losing their crap over it.
