I have had my Terraplanes for almost 3 months... and LOVE them! I have definitely noticed that the props are not as durable as most other props that I fly. If you are flying indoors, turn off Airmode, and you won't suck to the wall as bad. ;)

Nurk, you need to waterproof at least one of your Terras. I remember how much fun you had with the Deep Dive 6 in the snow and how you lost one of your Squirts in that water balloon run in Tulsa. I think your build would have enough space for a Deep Dive kit for your electronics, or maybe you can use conformal coating. Then... share the build with your fans ;-)

Great review / intro to your new favorite tool. I’ve been looking at the hydrophobe because Oregon winter is coming.. then I noticed that frame which looked the same with ducts.. So figured obviously I could have both with flexibility. I’m assuming you could put the skirts on the Terraplane ?

Get one of the smaller Emax drones Nurk reviewed lately, like the Emax nano hawk or the nano hawk X. Depending on much it rains where you live, if you plan to fly it a lot indoors, you should get one with prop guards 🚀

Love your shirt! Built my squirt after seeing your first video with it when flying threw the car an all threw the walking park area. The cinewhoop has been one of my favorite builds to fly. I might put some serious thought into possibly building a terraplane.

Yeah air mode and throttle mixer. Air mode only activated at low throttle, disables itself depending on a determined throttle position

That rotor to duct clearance is WAY too big to block tip vortices on the tips. I wonder if there is any aero benefit of having ducts on at all (other than the human safety aspect, which is still a huge advantage!)

A question I want to throw at your beard: Filming in 60 fps with a Gopro, does that mean my editting in DR's timeline should be in 60fps aswell or can I work with 24fps? The goal is to create nice smooth cinematic footage. Thanks in advance!

Your recording framerate and timeline framerate should always be matched if possible. The only reason you'd want to use 60fps on a 24fps timeline is for slow motion. 60 cannot be divided into 24 nicely, so you end up skipping frames and having uneven playback when doing this. You could put a 60fps video in a 30fps timeline, as this would mean your final video would just skip every other frame. Although, if you're really worried about cinematic quality, this also introduces shutter angle complications, as you'll no longer have a proper 180 degree shutter angle. I have only had my Cinelog30 a couple weeks and you have me already thinking about retiring it. I think 2004 motors should be the minimum for a cinewhoop now, these 1404s are too hyper.

My terraplane motors run pretty hot… correct screws used, build is fine, not sure what’s going on. Using the tmotor velox v2 2207.5 2550 kv on 6s. Not sure why they are pretty hot 😕

Why not just put injection molded style ducts on a 5" frame? What does this frame do special over a regular 5" frame? Seems easier to put prop guards on a five inch than to take the guts out of a 5" and put it on a new frame.

It's a complicated question because it's determined by what you are trying to do. Of I had to pick only one, I'd still probably pick the squirt v2 or this.

What environment? Stabilized or hard-mounted? What flight time? You can pay $16k to $19k for an Alta before you even get batteries or gimbal.

No, with a cinewhoop the ducts are super necessary, as they mostly fly indoors or around expensive objects and people. Just the extra security of the ducts is great as you do not have to worry anywhere near as much as if you were flying a non ducted quad.

Biggest overrated rip off for a frame I have ever seen it's nowhere near as nice as the Apex but it's more expensive?
