People who want a malinois should watch this. You can't change his nature. Haz is just teaching him a productive way to use that attitude, but that doesn't change his nature. I think people see trainers with German Shepherds and Malinois in perfect obedience and they think they're just like any other pet dog breed.
@Zeleosa2 жыл бұрын
This is what I was afraid of when we got a mal for a family dog/pet. But our girl is 5 months old now and will bring all her favourite toys to the couch and lay in my lap and chew on them. I can touch her, pet her, tug on the toys, and there's no guarding whatso ever. The only time she growls at us is during tug and only if a tooth is loose and hurting her. Otherwise she's a big suck. It's all about training them properly.
@inkwhiskers99482 жыл бұрын
@@Zeleosa You're exactly right. And though I think every dog breed needs and deserves good training, working breeds have a much lower tolerance for bad training. You've obviously done a good job with your girl.

Oh yeah, I did a lot home work before I pull the shot. Obedience obedience obedience, and this is not a dog you just let’s him run around dog park by itself and sit on your ass talk with other people, you have to physically engage in the play, “work” the dog, my guy is about 9 months old, smart, and goofy, so much fun 😂😂
@PaweKuzmaGAT38 ай бұрын
Yes, but the are so few movies about it... and plenty of "super maly" tricks. You don't see hour of training on internet, only some short movies o XP trainers. People do not want to show their problems and struggle with their dogs. The key is to have a good trainer... if it's your first mal. Great dogs... if you want to train with it... not a couch dog.

My 9 month is a cross Belgian mal and a Tervuren. Extreme resource guarding! Loves playing tug. Sometimes he won’t relinquish the toy, he has a certain look in his eye and I know it’s pointless saying ‘out’. So I have a tennis ball in my pocket for just that occasion, throw it and he drops the tug or frisbee. Then it’s safe to remove the toys.

How can I teach my dog that the playtime is over? It was easy to teach him how to drop the toy. He keeps waiting and waiting... he is taught not to grab the toy for a very long time unless I allow to but what if I want to stop playing. If I go away, he barks to go back and let him get the toy. If I allow this, he thinks the playtime is still on...
@millerj.84482 жыл бұрын
When you want to stop, have him drop the toy and you say, "All done" and pick up the toy and put it away somewhere. Pet him and praise. You can just matter of fact say hey boy Im all done

There are probably ways that you can end it to build his drive for that toy but Im not expert. You can simply say all done and put toy away though...

@@marektruper4242 Pup doesn't want to stop eh? Maybe take advantage of that and hide the toy for search games? adding that searching will use up some of that energy. Do the tug games when he finds the toy. Just ideas. Keep on working that dog!
@nannoreul2 жыл бұрын
When you want to end playtime, allow the dog to “win” and then don’t touch the toy again. Crate him for ten minutes and put the toy away. If the dog continues to search and bark for the toy, simply ignore him. You cannot set the precedent that barking = dog getting what he wants. It seems like you haven’t trained a “break” command, so find that here on YT and start to structure your play sessions and training sessions that way so you can utilize a “break” command after.

They do ! My brother has one who is 8 years old, he's completely chill and doesnt need that much activity. I feel a lot of breeders nowaday reproduce for "work" only and often select bad genes. It's ok for working dogs but it's not when you sell them to families. They reproduce anxious dogs, hyperactive dogs, they dont socialise them and then you end up with a reactive dog already at 3 or 4 months that is scared of everything. We visited a breeder here cause I really love this breed (initially they are sheperds but we forgot this!), you couldnt approach the parents, and the dude was saying "yeah the malinois is an anxious breed". Yeah fuck no, you reproduce anxious dogs, which makes anxious litters that's it ! We are looking for a "family" breeder but we can only find "Lines of WORK" "Champion 16 times in ring", and as a particular, I don't care what the dog won, I just want a stable one that can follow me everywhere !
