What's up, people! I'm back with another Roxy Music reaction from their self-titled debut album (1972), and this time we listen to another sonically incredible tune, "If There Is Something." I started buying Roxy albums when I was in high school during around mid 70s. People who listened to this band were far and few between in my hometown. Smallville Canadaland. But for those of us who did...it was great.

I love this song. It starts out sounding rather conventional but then morphs into something that must have seemed extraterrestrial back then - and even now it blows me away every time I hear it. Where the hell did that come from? Apart from that the line about growing potatoes makes me giggle. Can you imagine Bryan Ferry and his band mates in all their glittery glory digging up vegetables? Clearly, they must have come from outer space and landed on some field, then bursting into the music scene. On a side note, isn't it interesting that 50 years ago the grass had been greener "when you were young" already? Some things never change.
