You are so fortunate to have had your labs done and reviewed by Dr. Solt. I would love to have her as my ND, particularly as she is carnivore based. Very informative conversation and you should be so pleased with your results and the hard work you've put into your diet these past years. I wish I knew at your age, what I know now. I can relate to the fight/flight too, as I've experienced this for most of my own life, and know that most likely holds me back in areas, but always persevering and moving forward as I learn and apply for my own well being. Love your content Lillie.

Lillie, Thank you so much for sharing this and having your dr on to go over in detail your blood work. One of my favorite videos! I may need to find another dr in my area. The dr’s I have seen are so hung up on my LDL even when my HDL is ranging 70-99 and triglycerides ranges 45-71. This was so refreshing to see a dr that is up to date with the new info out on cholesterol she is not using out dated science/old studies.

LDL-C is a great marker, but definitely not that the best. Non-HDL-C or apob tests are a much clearer marker of heart disease.

There is no new info on Cholesterol, the Scientific evidence is overwehlmingly proofing that its one factor causily responsible for arteriosclerosis, the biochemical process is well known and different substances which work by inhibiting this exact process reducing the risk of cvd‘s. For Information is Arteriosklerose caused by oxidative stress + cholesterol + damaged blood vessels + macrophages + calcium. And it dont matter if its LDL or HDL cholesterol both when oxidized caus arteriosklerose, but the difference is that HDL is created out of LDL and thefore has a longer lifespan and so a higher Chance of being oxidized and so is a marker for oxidized cholesterol. I for example have 54 LDL Cholesterol and 46 HDL Cholesterol that means that 8 cholesterol is Potentially oxidized, while lillies LDL is by 125 and HDL by 75 so that 50 Cholesterol is Potentially oxidized. And that is no wonder cause the more total cholesterol you have the less antioxidans you have per unit of cholesterol to protect it from oxidize stress and so you get an Exponentiell increase in oxidized cholesterol.

Great video. Absolutely love your openness to eating. Wish more Carnivore and Keto people would be open to changes other than more and more restrictions. I was very surprised your doctor didn't explain to you that your Calcium, magnesium and potassium levels in the blood can be "perfect" but your body deficient. Many get blood work, doctor says "your electrolytes are fine" yet they still suffer from muscle cramps. This is a critical point many carnivore overlook. For example the body will pull calcium from the bones to ensure levels in the blood are sufficient. Might feel perfect, not have any issue for 15 yrs, then the person gets the bad news. YES and double YES, the body needs some Periodization in the eating and nutrition. Healing phase, building back phase, health and growth phase and then a cyclical periodization phase till the end.

This was fun and informative, As a fellow hyper carnivore I compared all the values that I have access to, they were so close to yours, except for a couple of outliers like: total protein 7.2g/dL, ferritin is even higher than yours at 167.28 ng/ml which I imagine has more to do with male/female differences. Thank you Lilly for sharing something pretty personal with us that we can use as a reference point to help us find our optimal diet. P.S. Dandruff is something I also struggle with, I whish I knew my copper and selenium lvls, I'm just going to increase foods with those and see if that does the trick.

I'm just scrolling through the comments section, and I saw you mentioned that increasing carbs intake leads to more painful periods. I was a vegan for three years. My digestion may not have loved it, but my periods were SO much easier, barely any cramps or fatigue. I was even able to stop taking medication for the awful hormonal acne I had. I had already removed dairy from my diet years before that, it was only when I detoxed from Meat that those changes happened. I reintroduced meat again and I can be okay with it as long as it’s not too much. Everyone is different, just know that having “carbs” does not equate to processed foods, and also does not guarantee bad periods.

@@stefaniesmith7117 Highly suggest against going vegan as a woman for positive health effects. Of course you will see positive changes at first if you switch out of a traditional western diet, but the negative health effects will slowly but surely creep up. It usually takes 5 to 7 years for your B vitamin stores to run out - even when you are supplementing due to poor absorption. It took 3 years for my girlfriend to develop extreme menstruation pain, which was diagnosed as endometriosis (no cysts were found in ultra). Got pain meds, but it was finally ALMOST fixed by adding large amounts of saturated fat into the diet, which a traditional vegan diet will lack severely. The only source is coconut fat, so that is what we added, and it almost completely fixed the issue. She is now 8 years completely vegan, but is going to get vegan blood work done because of the issues she is having - and mind you, she is the healthies vegan I know, because I’m like her personal nutritionist making sure she eats necessary things for necessary micronutrients, like natto for K2. A vegan diet will always lack essential micronutrients, such as vitamin A, B6, B12, D, F, K2 and CLA + carnitine, carnosine, cholesterol, CoQ10, creatin, heme-iron and saturated fat as I mentioned before and taurine. Its either impossible or almost impossible to get these on a vegan diet, so you will slowly but surely become deficient. It might feel good at first, but then its a nice spiral down. Plus, the amount of farting on a vegan diet is… Holy shit. I myself am on carnivore heavy ketogenic diet due to former health issues which are now fixed. An odd combo for sure, but I was a traditional omnivore before meeting my vegan girlfriend. She has no problem with my eating except ethical reasons, but she is well read on the topic and due to my influence, so she knows her diet isnt probably sustainable long term. Ive slowly but surely warmed her up to the idea of introducing eggs into her diet to fix further health issues. And no, she isnt some lazy slob - Ive been coaching her for 3,8 years, and shes fucking huge. But still, exercise cant fix nutritional deficiencies.

@@stefaniesmith7117 I did a whole food plant based, high nutrient diet for years, and I still had mild cramps with my cycles. It wasn't until I did an almost 90 day juice fast that the cramps went away, but they did come back when I started eating again. I'm 6 months into carnivore, and sadly, I still have mild cramping, but, my head used to get horribly inflammed around my cycle, and that has gotten much better! The only time since my early 20s that I haven't had cramps was when I spent time in Europe for a couple of months! I was never able to figure out why. I took a lot of baths with magnesium salt while there, but I tried that when I got back to no avail. :/ I'm about to add in fruit & honey to my carnivore diet, so if anyone wants to reply to me in a few months, I can let you know if anything has changed. It's early March 6, 2024 currently. Best of luck to all of you! 💖

This doctor get payed to say what you want to hear. "Your cholesterol levels are quote on quote high but we know that this doesn't have any bearing of your cardiac health" I mean this carnivore is Luke a cult that blindly follow each other. She's 40% over the reference value I LDL (aka bad cholesterol) and this doctor trying to smoth things out by saying her by saying "well your total cholesterol (aka your good+bad cholesterol) is only 15% (yellow box) over the limit so only a minor moderate risk of heart disease" compared to the high risk (red box)

@@smurfhits5688 That's really not what she said. Science has proven that LDL doesn't mean anything. It's the particle size of the LDL that matters. Lillie, not to be fear mongering, but my daughter had a pituitary adenoma, and that's how it declared itself. Her prolactin levels were crazy high. Much higher than yours, but I just wanted to share the information. Our daughter's tumour was surgically removed. They said that a fair amount of people have growths on their pituitary glands and they go undiagnosed. (20% of the population?). Anyways, again, not trying to freak you out, but if that prolactin level remains high, or rises even further, consider an MRI.

I was waiting for you to make a video like this. Blood results is something that most people talk about in carni community. I see you also had a lower wbc (leukocytes). The same thing happened to me as well after 3 months of carnivore. However, mine were much lower. And I also had very low platelets. My dr. made me see a hematologist. I started eating “normal” food and my blood was fine just 2 weeks after. Oddly enough right before those bad blood results I got severe headaches like I never had in my life. And the backs of my legs were full of bruises (I didn’t injure myself in any way) like someone took a pole and beat the shizz out of the backs of my legs. I also got severe pain in my wrists so hard I couldn’t hold a glass and the backs of my knees got swollen. Mind you I had NEVER had any of those symptoms in my life before. I was very healthy. I’m 43 yo female with no other health conditions. And other than that I felt amazing on carnivore. Like I’ve never felt this good. My sleep improved, no more brain fog. Lots of energy and focus. And then this sh!t happened so I stopped. I’m making a pause during summer and then I’ll try carnivore again and monitor if this happens again. In a couple of carni groups I saw a few people reporting the same thing. Blood was fine before they started carnivore and their platelets and wbc got alarmingly low. They incorporated carbs and fruits and veggies and everything normalized. Funny enough my cholesterol and everything else most people worry about were fine. Go figure. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hello… your comment about bruising on the backs of your legs reminded me of a video I watched recently. It’s on a channel called Violin MD and it’s called “one simple dietary mistake sent her to the emergency department: medical mystery case solved!” The woman in the video had mysterious bruising all over the backs of her legs, pain & swelling in the legs, a rash, joint pains, unusual blood work. It turned out to be scurvy! I know it’s not supposed to be a problem on carnivore, but maybe for some people it is. Maybe something like starting the day with a glass of lemon water could make a difference if you try again? I would be so interested if you watched the video and reported back if it seemed to fit your case :)

Normally doctors go one way or the other. but i think that is a major problem on the carnivore diet, is being able to spike insulin, and getting glycine in the liver, and glycogen in the muscles... and the electrolyte problem with carnivore alone too... last but not least, I think land animal carnivore lack bio copper, too.

Something worth knowing is how the lab that you used came up with the reference ranges that they listed on the results! It may surprise you to know that if you get those same tests done at different labs you will likely see different reference ranges listed! Many labs use averages of results across a population of patients that they have tested, rather than optimal ranges for healthy people! If those labs have an inordinate percentage of unhealthy patients (as most labs do because it is more likely that people that are sick will get orders for lab work) then the reference ranges will be skewed to levels that are not necessarily for the better!

Very true! My employer is into wellness, so all employees have the opportunity to have a complete blood chemistry done every year; a couple years ago, we changed analysis labs, and it was amazing to see what the change in reference ranges was. I watched a video of Dr. Eckberg's earlier this year that featured reference ranges, and I had to laugh at the truth he pointed out about one component (can't remember which) from the lab that had the beginning range of zero---he said something like, "I don't know why they're using zero. If you were at zero, you'd be dead." A good case of "not necessarily for the better!" as you pointed out.

One other thought for what it's worth. I listened to Judy Cho going over her blood work. She made the point that she doesn't like to see triglycerides much below 75. Much lower than this she interprets as an indication of undereating - or undereating energy relative to protein. You might want to check out her vid.

Good, informative video. Based on that food pyramid of nutrition this seems to be more of a Keto diet as opposed to a hyper carnivore diet though.

Thanks! A hypercarnivore is an animal who's diet is 70% or more meat. A keto diet is a high fat moderate protein, low carb diet (no fruit, milk, potatoes, etc). I eat a high protein diet animal based diet :)

Does the Raw milk you drink contain 12g of sugar/carbs per 1cup(250ml) like most pasteurized brands sold in grocery stores? I'm wondering if I should hold off on including milk in my diet until I reach my target weight because I'd be worried about reducing my ketone production or coming out of ketosis. Starting weight July 3rd was 288.2lbs, weigh in July 31st was 248.0lbs following a pure carnivore diet and a bit of exercise but nothing extreme, something shocking to me was how fast my recovery time has been since being on this diet. 5 miles on the elliptical on the max resistance setting and the next day my legs felt like the previous day never happened, it was great. 40 down 70 to go

I am a little bit surprised at the analysis of vitamin D and glucose. In my view, vitamin D around 60 is the ideal, and 40 really is not particularly low, it is on the bottom end of the optimal range. An A1c of 5.4 is also somewhat high in the context of a carnivore diet. I am in my 60s and my A1c had been around 5.3 for years - when I went keto, it dropped to around 4.6. Obviously people are different but there are informed sources of opinion that would say 5.4 is nudging up to pre-diabetes. I dont know if I missed it but there did not seem to be a fasting insulin or c peptides. I also thought the elevated ferritin is indicative of inflammation and is associated with elevated liver markers. Again, while not seriously elevated, the liver markers are a bit high. I only had the briefest glimpse of HDL and Triglycerides but I would love to hear some analysis of the Trig/HDL ratio.

@@sebk174Exactly what I was thinking. It doesn't "spike" the way carbs cause a spike, but protein does cause some insulin response. It's only fat that doesn't. So as long as you are consuming protein, you are always having some insulin response. I'm not against a piece of fruit sometimes, but the logic that you need it to have an insulin response is flawed.

Would you mind letting us know the cost of this testing? I would like to do a comprehensive annual testing also, but concerned about $$. Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from familial abuse, I have this too. Good diet only goes so far, but is also essential of course. I have found the Wim Hoff breathing technique to be highly beneficial - Rapid breathing for 30 breaths and then breath-holding on the out-breath for 1 minute in cycles of 3. Meditation has also been great, coupled with deep diaphragmatic breathing. To meditate is to STOP EVERYTHING (except breathing and awareness). There will be resistance and boredom and a confronting feeling, persevere. I have found the candle meditation to be good. Light a candle and simply rest your attention on the flickering flame, the mind will wander, you just notice this without frustration and bring attention back to the flame, attention will wander again........bring it back........this is like exercising a subtle muscle, the muscle of attention. As you try this, it will become alarmingly evident just how atrophied this ability to have control of your attention has become. Energy flows where attention goes.

When you consider that you also stop buying everything full of carbs that comes in a box/bag, eating almost exclusively meat isn't ridiculously expensive or anything. Personally I save money on food now, because the only things I'm buying is meat/eggs/cheese, nothing from the main aisles of the grocery store, I stopped eating out, etc.

Did you use fasting or are you eating all day? Because the protein causes glycogenisis (not sure if that’s the right term or how to spell it) that converts the proteins to sugar, causing insulin spikes ie leading to pre diabetes if you have too many too often. So yeah in your case, incorporating longer spaces between meals would be more beneficial. Look into Dr Jason Fung if you haven’t already - he was treating diabetes for years the “normal” way and was getting frustrated that his patients stayed sick. Now he treats them using fasting and they walk out of his clinic healed. Sometimes it can be about a lot more than just a diet change! Edit: and I also would like to know the foods you were actually eating on carnivore because if you were ONLY eating meat you’d have to eat a lot of it, many times during the day, to cause the sort of metabolic damage that would lead to pre-diabetes :o

@polkhigh_33
@polkhigh_33 Жыл бұрын
You could, but you dont have to. In most countries sadly, the health insurances only pay for the very minimum amount of results. Everything beyond that is charged upon you, thats probably why your doctor hesitates because those can quickly become VERY expensive. Like getting your TSH/FSH alone done in germany is 120 euros. You can get it through insurance if you 'have' severe AMS symptoms. But you'd have to 'have' a buttload of different symptoms across the board to get a complete bloodwork without financially ruining yourself. Therefore I really wouldnt stress myself with bloodwork analysises. If youre starting to feel sideeffects, thats still more than early enough to get a bloodwork done (which then is covered by insurance) and take care of the possible shortcomings.
