The line work is my favorite part! I struggled with whether to start forgoing black lines for colored lines like many of my favorite artists, but ultimately decided against it. The lines are the part i enjoy the most, and i think they're what I've mastered the most on account of that. :)
@Hadri_ART2 жыл бұрын
Me too, inking is very satisfying indeed, but i think i ll probably try to do some parts without ink to give a more realistic feel. Also is a bit annoying to start learning new techniques when you feel confortable at one. I spent a lot of time doing inks and i feel decent at it, so it s easier to stay in this confort zone 😅 i think that if someone wanna be a good artist, has to try different things tho

The cover illustration for volume 3 is very nice. By looking at the picture, even without the explanation at the beginning, you can tell that it was created based on Yusuke Murata's style. It is such a good work. I support your efforts to bring Japanese-inspired manga to the rest of the world! Please keep up the good work.

I learned the hard way... because I have no patience and therefore, my markers make the lineart bleed away... That i work much better applying copic markers directly on colored pencil sketches. This way I can decide later on where I want the lines to go, where to make them thicker or thinner, and if I want to make the lines softer with a colored lineart or something else. It can be super fun, I encourage you to try.

The only problem I’m having is how do you determine the size to draw your cover traditionally? I didn’t see you use any measurements similar to printing size, so do you just draw freely on large paper without measurements? Anyone answer please
@girly.mimi002 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you're drawing and what size you want the drawing to be as well as the cover size. If you use measurements, use them in a minimal way (straight lines, outlines, ect.) and free style the rest. If you don't plan on using measurements, work with the size of the paper you have and free style it. When it comes to this type of thing, you have to know where you want the angles to be and how big or small the drawing has to be in order to cover a good portion of the cover/paper ect. I hope this helped.
@MaxIronsThird2 жыл бұрын
These covers are similar in size to your usual A5/B5 paper, so it doesn't really make a difference, A4 is completely fine, if it was cards, posters or even banners, then that would be a problem, bc you would have to adjust detail level for a card and for a poster you would have to draw on a B4 or A3, to get more detailed and give nuance to the linework.
@darbypea22232 жыл бұрын
I like to start bigger. You can typically find Bristol paper (most commonly used comic paper) with guidelines for the bleed if you need it. And then you can make adjustments after scanning to make if fit the proper size for your project.
@darbypea22232 жыл бұрын
My favorite pen for traditional inking are Staedler pigment pens. They just flow so nicely but have the same type of controlled size as a micron.
@aguy27652 жыл бұрын
If you're worried about dimensions that much then think of it this way. The bigger your space the more room you have to draw. The smaller your space the less room you have to draw. You always want to upscale whatever your target measurement is for instance I draw mostly and export my files at 1920x1080 I usually double that number and get 3840x 2160. This allows me to paint at 4K so I can get all my details in the painting, then when it comes to downsizing those details will still be there. So a typical cover is usually 5 inches x 7.5 inches or 12.70 cm x 19.05 cm so you would just double that number. tl;dr / my opinion: You don't need dimensions if you're going to draw big and scale it down you have all that information on your painting still there, you can just adjust when you're finalizing the cover. You're probably better off drawing at your comfortable dimension / resolution then downscaling.
