Upgrading a MK7 Golf R Clutch to a Southbend In 60 Seconds

Upgrading the clutch on your MK7 Golf R is likely going to be required if you are modifying your car. If you upgrade to stage 1 its possible that you may not have an issue with clutch slipping depending on your driving style. If you upgrade your Golf R to stage 2 its more likely that you will run into issues and you will need to upgrade your clutch.

What is the main difference between Southbend Stage 2 Daily vs Endurance? I want an upgraded/new clutch for mostly daily driving but I plan to tune the care in the future.

The Endurance clutch is conservatively rated to hold 450ft/lbs of torque. The daily is rated for 400. I have been running the endurance with an IE stage 2 for 2 years! I love it. A little heavier pedal feel. But the positive engagement is how it should have been from the factory! Also i got the lightweight single mass flywheel with it. Feels a bit quicker with the lightweight flywheel. Tho as with most light flywheel applications, it does make a chattering noise.

Hey, I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible. I'm looking to install a clutch in an is38, apr tuned alltrack. I'm looking at the sachs performance oem+ upgrade for 400ft lbs or the Southbend stage 2 daily with dual mass flywheel. What do you think?

I can get the sachs with a brand new dual mass for under $800. Southbend is $1501.

@@colinatkinson8236 I went with the Sachs from the golf r and holding up well so far! It's like half price on rock auto, compared to fcp or ecs. I did replace my flywheel as well because my installer said it was smart to do. Additionally, he charged me like $20 to install the iabed rear main seal upgrade while he was in there. Probably a good idea because they are apparently prone to leaks, which mine did on stage 1 apr 93 octane.
