I would've killed for this as a kid. My first efforts learning to program was C on an ancient desktop that wasn't powerful enough to open Visual Studio in under 3 minutes and on an old monitor that was so old text was illegible without zooming way in. lol. I think what I love most about this is it's a computer a kid could actually afford and I don't feel like we've really had that since the days of the spectrum. Sure it's the antithesis of powerful and browsing the web is not great, but the computers I had as a kid were way weaker and kids don't care. They're just excited that it's theirs and they can explore/learn it. So cool.
@christopheroliver1483 жыл бұрын
Recent RasPis can emulate sane CPUs fast enough that kids (and adults for that matter) can mess with assembler and C on simple operating systems too. E.g. Z80 CP/M, MC68000 on Amiga, MC68000/PowerPC on early MacOS. Linux has all the hair of modern programming, and maybe that's not the best place to start one's journey. I suspect that even Squeak Smalltalk would be far faster on a RasPi4 than it was on the XEROX boxes where it started life.

Its good to see that editors at LMG know to blur Anthony's keys so that no one can copy them.
@Maligosz4 жыл бұрын
I was wondering why it was blurred and I don't know if your comment is a joke or if it is serious. I was assuming it was to hide the brand logo of his car. Is showing a key from afar a security risk ? I would have thought that if someone really wants to go to the trouble of manufacturing a key, they would just put a camera in the keyhole to get the information they want to manufacture the proper key. LockPickingLawyer actually posted a video where he does exactly that yesterday.
@TENGILL4 жыл бұрын
That´s not what they did, i think he has a pocket knife on his keys and KZbin would have flagged the video. So they blurred it out.
@poleosis4 жыл бұрын
@@Maligosz lookup deviant ollam and keys. they are hilariously insecure for many reasons

@@TENGILL If that's true then the rules put forward by KZbin are even dumber than I thought.
@RGeezy9114 жыл бұрын
@@Maligosz I'm pretty sure it's for security. I don't think his address is public knowledge, so no one can use a keyhole camera on him if they don't have his location. However, if they have an image of his key, that person could make multiple keys. In the unfortunate event that Anthony's location got leaked, the attacker could enter his home covertly without raising suspicion from neighbors.

I've had my Pi400 for a few days now, and all I can say, it's a worthwhile device to own, with the right expectations. It's my main machine for running Ultimaker Cura and it runs it well enough. As a hobbyist, for me the Pi400 is an excellent device to work with. Compact and low power. It overclocks well too. 2.3GHz on the CPU 850MHz GPU. I'll probably dial back the overclock for longevity, although I'm not seeing temps go higher than 55C, with 'normal use'. I have a dual monitor setup with my Pi400. It works well, with a few quirks! Tho one of my monitors has only VGA out! But, it works, once I spent the time to get the settings right, 'taskbar' placement etc. I run TwisterOS and also boot from USB. Cool fact of USB booting, the SD card slot can be used for extra storage, so a C: and D: drive, if you want. I doubt I'll ever touch the GPIO and I don't miss the camera or display connectors, I've got more Pi4s deployed that need to use those connectors. Finally, excellent job on on the video. Get some projects going for the Pi400, for the main channel. Always cool to see LMG tackling the Pi.
