Stanton has been the 3rd most productive player on the roster. He has been clutch this year with runners on base. He hits absolute line drive missiles that are almost impossible to catch unless hit right at the fielder. It really sucks that he has leg issues, but he is still pulling his weight.

People are delusional. He is not going to retire. When he is on the field he is great. He is streaky, but he's always been streaky. Once you have had a strain you're more likely to have a strain again. He is one of the most prolific home run hitters in the game.

With Dominguez hurt again, we can't really hope Stanton retires. As far as the caller goes, he's off on Stanton and what is and isn't a ballplayer. He's a DH, so compare him to the leagues DHs. In that comparison, he is easily a top 5 DH so far this season. Plenty of ballplayers couldn't run or field. You're a ballplayer until you can't hit. Everything else, while important, is secondary. Not sure why people would think you need to be in the field to be a player. DH is league wide, so there's 30 guys who play the field very little, if at all.
@urbangorilla33
@urbangorilla33 Ай бұрын
Easily a top 5 DH? Not so fast. Eight players who are clearly putting up better hitting numbers: Shohei Ohtani, Ryan O'Hearn, Yordan Alvarez, Joc Pederson, Marcell Ozuna, JD Martinez, Kyle Schwarber, Brent Rooker. And most of them give at least some extra value playing occasionally in the field. You are correct that a DH doesn't need to play the field. But what about running the bases? That can't be trivialized. It is still a part of being an offensive threat.
@greer15

And that’s why the second Dominguez showed he was healthy and hitting they should’ve called him up and split time with Stanton and spell the other outfielders on days off to rest. And for those who say noooo he needs regular at bats to that I say does he? Does he really? Kids a super stud what more does he gotta prove in aaa when the entire point is for Yankees to win it all. Willing to bet Dominguez could play three or four days a week and Stanton play three and combined they’d stay healthy and hit 80 homers and 126 RBI’s. And in case anyone had t noticed Martian tends to get himself hurt a bit as well so maybe they both would benefit from relevant at bats just not every damn day and the team thrives as a result of keeping entire outfield fresh. They give us this shit about young guys not being ready when we know they are just cause they committed too much money for way too long to the likes of Stanton and dj types. And can’t trade them or justify platooning them.

Yes. Negotiate a fair buy out. With his contract he should have been the most productive player the last four years. He hasn't been. His money limits the franchise from pursuing other options. Enough already.

Once a Hamstring or any other muscle sustains a grade II strain (partial tear), as did Stanton last season, that athlete will forever be predisposed to not only re-injuring those same fibers of the muscle that were previously injured, but progressing the injury in severity, perhaps to a grade III necessitating surgery. That is because within any muscle is not one fiber, but hundreds to thousands of individual fibers grouped into bundles, with each bundle innervated by a separate nerve fiber. When certain muscle fibers within a bundle are torn, they heal not by the fibers regenerating, but by scar tissue filling in the gap between the two ends of the torn fiber. Scar tissue is much weaker to tensile loads than were the original muscle fibers, and therefore are prone to tear under considerably lower forces than are muscle fibers. Stanton was hitting decently this season, and he is always a threat, because of his HR capabilities. He swings and misses often, and can be easily pitched to, being classified as a mistake hitter. He can only hit a pitch that a pitcher mistakenly allowed to drift into his hitting zone. Any breaking or off-speed pitch off the plate with 2 strikes and Stanton is automatically struck-out. He will never hit quality pitching, but can destroy a mistake delivered by a pitcher. Other hitters may get a single or double off of a pitcher's mistake, whereas, those same mistakes to Stanton land 440 feet away, that is why pitchers must be very careful pitching to him, and to have excellent control. The problem with the roster Cashman created, is there is no quality bench, not a single decent bat off the bench. The drop off in the line-up after Stanton is analogous to one falling off a cliff. There were nervous questions regarding entering the season with no viable replacements for Rizzo, Torres, DJ, should they not produce in 2024, and the answers thus far, are in the negative for all three, they have given the Yankees very little offensively this season.
