Yeah, I told me ex that I still loved her a year after the breakup and 131 days after no contact. She just wanted to be friends. I've seen the videos and read the articles on being a friends with an ex and I wasn't going to be second best after all this time I put into me. It was all or nothing and I didn't care how slow I had to move. I just wanted us to try and rebuild, even if it was friends first but she had zero interest in something more and said she had feelings for someone else. So I don't know why she reached out? or sent me photos of her and the kids? or herself tanning? You would think she would be interested in something but I guess not. Oh well, this time I got to reject her and told her I wasn't interested in friends or further contact. I feel good about it actually. Besides, I've watched so many videos on getting a ex back and as much as I may love them, it seems easier to find a new girl. Everything is about walking on eggshells and it's not worth this much time and games.

In regard to true feelings vs strategy, I would say that a good rule to follow is to only show as much emotion as you are being shown, perhaps even less, if you can manage it. They are rejecting you, and so they don't deserve to get any more energy than they give. If they are cold and calm during the breakup, then remain calm yourself and don't fight them. If they are expressing genuine emotion, then you can give them a little emotion too, but try to give them less and remain indifferent to the outcome. Whatever the case may be; agree with the breakup, or at least accept it as gracefully as you can. This will sow the seeds of doubt by instantly increasing your perceived value in relation to theirs. After all, if you're not that upset then it must be because they're not as great as they thought they were. Don't go looking for 'closure' either, as this essentially just gives them another opportunity to convince themselves that the relationship wasn't working because you (basically) weren't good enough for them - all while you sit there trying desperately to prove them wrong. By demonstrating that you don't need a lengthy explanation for the breakup, avoiding too much talk of your own feelings, and walking away before it gets complicated, you automatically signal higher value. If they then reach out during no contact, then make sure that your level of interest does not exceed theirs - don't come running back. If they then open up about their true feelings, then you can start to open up too, but don't rush it and don't express any more interest than they are. After all, depending on what the person is like, they could simply be baiting you into pouring your heart out, so that they feel powerful again - perhaps even rejecting you a second time to stroke their own ego. To reiterate what Lee said: trying to be a little more neutral achieves a number of things - by withholding your emotions and hiding your interest, you create mystery and tension, because the other person is now unsure of where they stand with you. You are also changing the balance of power by making yourself more valuable than them or the relationship, i.e. you go from being physically and emotionally abundant to suddenly being scarce and thus valuable. People pursue what they perceive to be valuable and slightly out of reach. Creating mystery, tension and higher value through lowered interest and availability will always increase attraction. Pouring your heart out just kills it.

I messed up and told them I still love them and want to work things out. This was after 55 days NC and she reached out and we met up, then hooked up that night. Things got emotional for both people, she was still saying she loves and misses me but knows that I'm not right for her. That's the only thing I did wrong, tell him how I feel. I didn't beg or plead for him to stay with me. And I didn't accept his lowball offer to be just friends. I gave him the breakup while maintaining my dignity and self-respect. I just wish I didn't tell him how I felt in such depth, though. Because I know he's doing his own thing and he's being selfish right now. So there was no point in pouring out my heart like that. I'm sure he'll come around soon because we had the most wonderful relationship. We got along so well and clicked so well and I'm honestly convinced that that's why he ended it. I think he got scared because things were moving very quickly but it's because we got along so well. But I can't chase him, I have to let him realize it on his own. I just hope he realizes it soon enough before this breakup does irreversible damage on my part. I know you say that most people feel like they love their ex more when they are broken up with, but for me it's the opposite. I was crazy about this man when we were together. He wasn't perfect but he was perfect for me. Coach Lee. Well guess what. After my ex broke up with me and blocked me from WhatsApp, I was chasing my ex for a few months pretending I was over him and that we could be friends, but then since this wasn't working I decided I had enough of him not being open to communicate and I needed a closure, so I wrote him an email in which I told him about my feelings for him and that I loved him through all this time, and at the same time I told him I believe the break up was impulsive but if that's what he wanted I'm letting him go as an act of love. He didn't replied to that email, I thought of course now he must be running away even further from me but a week after the day I told him I will be moving on, he unblocked me from whatsapp and not only that. Then last week we shared drinks and I pushed him to talk about us. He immediately shut down and told me he was done. He couldn’t even look at me. He didn’t respond to me for almost a week. Should you always reflect the same commitment and interest as your ex? If your attraction is higher then your partner, you must constantly hold back your feelings not to show her your interest is higher then her interest, until it's lost or she pulls back. Maybe you must pull back completely if that happens without braking up or ask yourself if this relationship is right for you.

Think that extra time would be better spent wooing them, but it makes women feel they don't have a chance because that type of woman wants all of the attention and wants to be chased but she herself is not willing to put equal time into the relationship, many times they just want to dog the dude to see if she can get him to pay more attention to her, and then when she gets her way, she feels success and dumps the dude anyway because she was only looking for an ego boost, not a life copartner. So my ex gradually broke up with me over a course of weeks( getting distant, barely texting, etc) them boom nothing... I was so angry and I let him have it.. then 1 day after the breakup I found you(3 days ago).. i did no contact yesterday he texted me today.... i sent him the clean slate letter now I'm going back into no contact.. but honestly in my mind i dont feel he cares so I'm not feeling any kind of way... if we get back together we do if not we just dont but I wont be hurting anymore so it's a win win

@@classy937 he reached back out to me say he was sorry wanted to fix it everything was good for like a month.. then he started playing games.. lying about dumb shit to see if I cared... lying about being out and about to see if I'll argue with him.... he wants to text 24/7 no phone conversations... I expressed I cant do the texting and no talking.. he still wouldnt call only text... I stopped texting a month ago.. he had texted but I have not responded.... I'm over it completely

Hxnry - Update: Shortly after this I decided to stop contacting her but she kept contacting me. I was nice and I replied but I told her that she should stop contacting me because I still have feelings for her and need to move on but can’t do that if we are always communicating. At first she was ok with it but later on she confessed her “feelings” for me and we gave things another shot. The thing I’ve learned is it’s actually not that hard to get back together with your ex, but actually KEEPING THEM is where the challenge is! You’ve got to make sure you DO NOT make the same mistakes as before! Ask yourself why didn’t it work out before? Did you stand up for yourself and lead the relationship or were you allowing them to take advantage of you? Improve yourself but also call them out on their crap and don’t tolerate ANYTHING!!!

Know how u feel. Last Thurs we broke up after 17 months. I started NC Tues. It's tough. Mon 11/21 my birthday Curious if she will say anything. She will be with her family next week for Thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure she won't even think of me. Day after we broke up I started a journal. Pros & cons of our relationship. WOW!! It's amazing what u see when u write it down. Hello coach and hello everybody who reads this. Its now one week and i dint contact her at all. The breakup was messy on my behalf. She wanted time and space and i couldnt give it to her. Her unsureness made me crazy and my anxiety went through the roof. I pushed her away that way. In my mental state i couldn't tell her how i feel and whats happening, thats why i wrote a letter. I send a postcard first to kinda warn that something is coming and she can decide if she wants it. I wanted to send the letter today. But i saw this vid 20 times in repeat and finally got it. My feelings dont matter to her right now. And thats okay. So i send her an whatsapp for the first time in a week, where i told her about the postcard and that i wont send the letter. Cause i respekt her feelings. And that she knows now, this letter exists and IF she wants it she CAN have it. But i wont throw it in her face. I said i respect her and love her and if she decides to talk with me, im there for her. This was probably the hardest and mentally strongest tbing i ever did. And i feel relief. This clean message stands for itself and im gonna leave it at that. I will prove to myself and to the love of my life. That im stronger than i think. Thank you coach for everything you did for me and all of us. I learned so much and im finally beginning to change. It hurts but its right

Hi Lee. I love all your videos and articles, it’s really helped me get through a tough time. My situation is a little bit different, and hoped you might be able to help. I started seeing a girl casually around a year ago. I didn’t want to take things further for a long time and I knew she was keener than me but we were never ‘together’ and still dated other people. When I finally came round to telling her how I feel and that I was ready, it was too late and she told me she had already started seeing someone else. This other guy had poured his heart out about how much he wanted to be with her etc. My concern is that, although I did tell her after finding this out how I felt about her, I never truly got the chance to pour out my heart like he did. Hearing this breaks my heart again. I did this for months, trying to "explain it away", using all of my effort to try and convince her. Even sending her multiple lengthy letters. I'm surprised that she still would talk to me after that, knowing THIS, NOW. Then she came back, finally, seemingly genuinely wanting to be friends, but I screwed that up too, until she finally said, I only came back bc I got tired of being guilt tripped, only here as friends "for your sake"... :( I'm now finally on NC, but it may be too late. I did EVERYTHING wrong!!

Stick to NC, work on yourself and keep watching Coach Lee's videos. My gf of 2 years broke up with me in January, but despite how close we were, this wasn't my first break up and the needy pathetic version of myself went away with that previous breakup so I handled the situation as mature as possible. During her break up text she said she wants me to keep talking to her bc it was the most important relationship of her life... I did no such thing. She reached out to me almost 2 months of NC to see how I was doing... I kept the conversation short, polite and made sure I ended the conversation myself.

What I've learned is you have the upper hand in being dumped because it should motivate you to work on yourself, disappear on them and then pop up as a much better person. They won't have that mindset if they were the ones to break up, they're too comfortable

@@islandtales1 Good job. Alas, I haven't learned until now, always had 'bad luck' having only flings or relationships lasting only months, though I am not bad looking. Other few meaningful past loves I got the "you're too needy" or "don't dwell", which I couldn't understand, seemed an odd foreign thought. This one last gf was the best, closest, highest ive ever had. That's why I'm here. I had THOUGHT that I was being mature, being reasonable and honest "Pathetic needy version" of myself is fading, but not without a fight. Really sucks when emotions get the best of you, and you feel as if the loss, the pain is all you have left. I dont want to forget what the intense love feels like, so I write a lot, so that I can let go of it. But, I always have tried to learn as much as possible from a breakup. I'd like to learn more than just 'people are fickle'! I want to improve, a lot.

Physical Intellectual Emotion Spiritual I wrote a long monologue and it worked, my girlfriend dumped me on January 1. I didn’t beg or cry or pleaded , she’s was angry , then I had a talk with her within the week so that she could get it all out, then I bought flowers to express how I felt , well I wrote her a long text on how I was being a grump and not taking the relationship seriously. Coach Lee, thank you for your wonderful videos. I recently experienced a break-up. It is a long-distance relationship, My ex is 35 years old, and I am 9 years older than him. We started off as friends for five years and dating for 2 years.
