I played the original when it first came out and loved it. Story wasn't quite as good as DMC3 imo, but it definitely was fun to play. Then when the updated PS4 version came out, with new playable characters, it was awesome to revisit. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys action/adventure hack-n-slash games! Great job on the review!

You probably shouldnt encourage people to use super costumes. These arent ordinarily included in the special edition (you must have gotten it in a bundle with all the dlc included) and are an unlockable costume that you get after beating the hardest difficulty. These do seem great but arent really meant for a first playthrough but as a bonus once you beat the hardest challenges and have some drawbacks to using them such as no regenerating health and a huge hit to your style rank at the end Edit: all the other games also have these super costumes which give you infinite DT and just like here you unlock them after beating dante must die difficulty

If you're at all interested, the fans created a set of mods for DMC2. Dubbed, the Definitive Edition. Check it out if you have the time. It's done an awful lot to fix the game.

3 Things that I've hate about DMC 4 1. The dice game 2. Repetitive Bosses 3. That damn monster that is popping out under the ground but overall, I love the game.

i actually kind of loved the dice game, but that may just be because it didnt overstay its welcome for me, i got enough lucky rolls to be done with it in like 5-6 turns

Just finished Dmc definitive edition. Loved it. Then i bought Dmc5, which was really fantastic as well. And now here i am, since i just bought dmc4 for $5! Cant go wrong for that money. Becoming a great fan of the series. Although have to say...Dmc definitive edition gets a lot of hate...but i loved it. I prefer Dante's new look in Dmc definitive edition over his long white hair emo gothic look in the regular devil may cry series.. Also liked the simplified gameplay with switching demon/angel weapons. Kinda liked the reboot...anyways.. im drifting off topic With that said, hyped to play part 4 now!

I actually like this game quite a bit. I still think dmc3 and 5 are better games due to some of this games faults mentioned here. My only real gripe I had with the game but actually didn’t mind after replaying it when it released on ps4 years ago, was using Dante to rerun not so much the same levels or similar but fighting the same bosses as you did as Nero. I didn’t mind later on because while I did wish Dante had his own bosses it was fun to fight them as Dante as they did a good job of making Nero’s gameplay unique to Dante’s.

​@@juvenilegolden if you actually managed to plat dmc5 (which is an insane task) then you shouldn't have any problems plating dmc4, I think dmc4 is actually easier to plat but dmc5 is way better in most aspects especially gameplay.

This might be my least favourite campaign in the good dmc games. Some enemies are terrible and the pacing is just terrible. Yes the mechanics are good. But things can only be so when fighting the same boss 3 times, replaying the same levels in reverse and the lost woods gimmick.

The game does not work on pc unless you fix it with hex editor there is a guide on steam. also max resolution is 720p and very low settings are the best you can get even if you set graphics on ultra it is still very low and res is 720p max. game is broken beyond broken.

@@Wade_in_your_water I played it all the way through on dmd it’s definitely the worst out of dmc3/4/5. The game is just straight up unfinished, with the worst enemies in any action game I’ve seen. Sorry if implied you didn’t play the other games, I’m kinda tweaking trying to go for S ranks on dmc4 rn. Anyways it’s worth playing this game once casually but playing the game on any further difficulty is pure misery.
