I did it! Went down about $5.00/hour and couldn't be happier! The sooner you can get out of the corporate world the better it'll be for you. I'm with a non profit am take great pride in going to work everyday helping ordinary people and NOT making some prick wealthy!!!

I’m a 25 year old female and I’ve been contemplating this for a year… I’ve worked for the same company since I was 19 and there are amazingly hard to beat benefits, and the longer you stay the better the benefits get. But I’m miserable slaving my life away :( I work 50 hours a week (not counting the 2 hours driving each day) and my first day off I have no energy to do anything but sleep. I live in a small mountain town and I’d love to do something seasonal/less hours for a while. And connect with my community.. would it be worth the risk? Would I make enough money to survive? Would I even be happier? Ahhh it’s hard…

Twice in my career I've taken a pay cut to get out of a miserable job. Neither cut was anywhere near as much as this caller, and I didn't have a spouse or kids to factor in. Many years later, I still feel that I made the right decisions ... but I'll admit there are times when I miss some of that money. 💸

This guy has it figured out financially. I make 150k, wife makes 60k a year and we don’t save money. Have a kid on the way and I’m nothing but miserable at my job. Would literally do anything else. Doesn’t help the job is dangerous and most stress I’ve ever been put Under. We have a budget problem and rent isn’t too bad but def feel stuck with no direction. Love this show. Thanks for content

The family that makes more money will be happier than the family that makes less money. Things happen in life and if you’re strapped with little or no room for error it creates another problem.

I am thinking of doing the same thing as I work for a corporation and it sucks, yes they compensate well, but you’re treated feels like it’s taking a toll on my mental health. I work shitty long hours. And I personally don’t support corporate America.

Hello, I’m 27. I have three kids and a wife who depend on me because I am the sole income earner. I am taking a seven dollar pay cut wich is about 12k less a year for me for a happier, career, closer to home and full benefits versus no benefits and my current job and also way more stressful and demanding. At the end of the day I believe this will make our lives more wholesome. It is possible to do do it! I took advice from older piers and family and everyone agreed with the pay cut due to the kind of benefits and happiness it provides. Most older people who don’t have benefits at their current job or joined to late all say it’s worth it in the end.. Also not really sure/confident that 7% is enough to be putting towards my 401k currently but it does look good projected

I’m considering a 70k pay cut, but hoping it could lead back to what I make now 2 or 3 years down the line. I’m miserable where I am now working 12 + hour days no days off. This other job id be doing my passion and hybrid in the caster field I’m passionate about. Tough decision

If it were me... I would fund the switch first. Save $50k or more a year for a few years so that the investment can supplement your income. Or I would take the job and setup a side job to make more. I'd invest all the money from the side job until there was enough there so the earnings from the investment was offsetting the income gap. Then I would slow down and relax a bit.

They’ll have $3,300/mo less than they do currently. His wife could get a job making that much if she’s not already contributing.

This is a silly question, but do Ken and Dr. John and the others have makeup artists and hairstylists and wardrobe before they start the podcast b/c they always seem to look essencially picture perfect. I used to work on that side of entertainment so I think of these type of things.
