Great video! I agree that cost of your carry gun is irrelevant. I carry a Staccato C2 Limited because I can draw it faster, shoot more accurate and get back on target faster. My life and the lives of people I’m protecting is worth more than a few thousand dollars. Looking forward to this series of topics.

Can’t argue that…bottom line: Figure out which gun you shoot the most accurately, the most rapidly, has what you deem to be an adequate round count, and carries comfortably and safely enough that you WILL carry it…THEN TRAIN LIKE A MOTHER FUCKER!! 😎

Idk thats up for you to decide. But one thing i have seen over the years. A lot of people don't buy expensive guns to really use. A lot of times there for showing off , collecting or range toys So they don't really train with them. I don't really carry expensive gun's. Don't carry cheap ones either. Just the run of the mill duty type. But what i do is if i am going to carry it. I use it alot . And get to where i trust it. I will not NOT carry one i don't trust.

That makes a lot of sense. To be clear, I’m not recommending that you carry an expensive gun. I am recommending that you carry the best gun you possibly can and if it happens to be expensive, that is not a reason to not carry it. How’s that for a double negative?🙄

i am buy no means trying to chill nor do i work or sponsor by shadow systems but if you read the manual there is a section called “use of pistol in self defense situation” its near the warranty section. i bet you will be less worried if your unable to receive your firearm back from police or government. not many companies offer this service. just wanted to throw out there. i say carry whatever you’re most comfortable with and accurate with.

That is an awesome policy. I am pretty sure that USCCA also will compensate you for the loss of your gun, if for some reason your gun does not make it back to you after a justifiable shooting.

its ok to use your expensive gun but you did not think ahead suddenly the area you live or work in is becoming questionable poor planning the bottom line if you payed 300 or 3500 as many in the chat have said no matter what you payed practice and training are whats going to make a differnce

What exactly do you mean by saying they'll "take it away?" Police will only confiscate your firearm if you're arrested, and then they'll just give it back once your case of over and you're found innocent or whatever.

Unfortunately, it is my understanding that it can take a year or two for a case to clear and it is not unheard of for guns to get "lost" through lapses in the chain of custody over extensive periods of time. Fortunately, I do not (and hopefully, will not) have any 1st hand experience with this matter.

They will/can take the gun to do ballistic testing and they are under no obligation to protect it from damage. It has a lot to do with the LEO/DA in the state. and @Drtac is correct, it can take several years, if the family of the person you shot (if they died) files a civil case - and they will, whether you are clearly justified or not. Think of the trials that have gone years and years, with all of the appeals/motions filed.

I have seen pythons go into evidence with blood on them. They come out a rusty mess a few months to years later after court. Should that matter fora carry gun no.

☝️ I concur 👍🏼 by having the conceal carry that you are most confident & proficient with is a priority in any given situation. Furthermore, I would rather be in the position to repurchase knowing that my loved ones are safe!! Yay- looking forward to the long awaited C&C / Holster videos!!!!! 🙌🏼

I am sorry I disagree - somewhat. I used to teach self defense 20 years ago and that is what is taught for reasons other than a "cheaper" gun. Cheaper does not mean any less capable. I have 4 carry guns for the price of about one expensive "target gun" and when I did my certification I passed the State Troopers compatible shooting test with it (not LEO) and even had to shoot with my shooting hand behind my back, to prove I could handle the gun in the weak hand. Yes, they are going to take your gun and it is not going to be in any condition when it is returned, will be beat up - if they return it. Many times the gun is destroyed - by "accident". And the 4 different guns I have are more for different occasions/concealment. And don't forget the backup gun. That being said, protecting the family or loved ones and shooting someone is not a hard decision to make. The legal challenges consequence's that WILL follow is what most people can not mentally handle. If it goes to court you will have to defend your choice of ammo, why you needed a laser, a flashlight or glow in the dark sights. (those can be argued to be OFFENSIVE devices, not DEFENSIVE). And you may even have to answer about what gun magazines you subscribed to and what youtube videos you subscribed to and watched. Carrying a target or competition ready gun, is going to be a legal nightmare. I hope you have discussed that with your lawyer, and if you are carrying a gun you better have a legal team all ready, when you are sitting at the Police station is not the time to think about who to call. But I agree. The gun you carry only needs to be as efficient and capable as the owner, nothing more. But at the same time, don't give them ammo to come after you, after the fact in a civil case and take your mental health away. Especially if you live in a non-gun friendly state and anti-gun DA. And if you don't think I am correct, talk to a self-defense lawyer and see what they will tell you as well. What can they defend. And I will head of the arguments that your loved ones are protected if you carry an expensive gun. Well, who will protect them while you are in jail, after the fact?

I appreciate your concerns regarding the legal aftermath and I am looking forward to more responses to your comment…as you may or may not know, a majority of this channel’s viewers are doctors and lawyers. Many of my friends and patients are lawyers and judges (many from my very unfriendly state, Maryland) and we have had endless discussions on this topic over the last 15 years (since I first started carrying). The general consensus is: CARRY WHATEVER GIVES YOU THE BEST ODDS TO MAKE IT TO THE LEGAL AFTERMATH. I am certainly not implying that lesser guns aren’t capable. The main point I’m trying to make is that the gun you carry to protect yourself, and those you love, should be the gun that you shoot the most accurately, most rapidly, functions the most safely and reliably, and carries the most comfortably. I’m not advocating for the nicest cerakote job, scary slogans, pictures, or even bible versus printed on the slide. I am strictly speaking about overall functionality…bring your best gun to the gun fight so you have the luxury of dealing with the legal aftermath. A fight for your and your loved ones’ lives is not the time to handicap yourself for fear of any post fight ramifications other than survival. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and I really hope that some of our viewers who are legal professionals chime in to share their knowledgeable insight (pro bono, of course 😉).

@@DrTac My Degree (Partial) is in Game/Simulation Programming , but was a Mechanical Designer on the Space Station and other large projects. I have worked with several Engineers who were multi-degreed, multi-PHD's. One thing I have learned, it doesn't mean they have common sense (and many of them would agree with me). They over complicate things. In my profession in Configuration Management in my later years, the Motto was always, "Trust but Verify". And we agree, the Legal Aftermath is where most are going to break down. Enjoy the chats.. Later:) I am in Ala, very gun friendly. And I can say, carrying a gun has prevented me from being Carjacked, and another female who to this day, never knows what I did for her. And I never even had to remove the gun from its holster. I have no idea what point you're trying to make. You seem to be confounding several different and unrelated points to the video. 1. DrTac is not saying to carry the more expensive gun, he's saying the price should not be a factor in what you decide to carry, how well you shoot it should be. 2. No idea what your point is rambling about lights and lasers as those can be attached to expensive or cheap guns. 3. Again, no idea why you bring up competition or target guns, as those can be expensive or cheap. Please provide real life examples or legal precedence of what you're suggesting, I suspect there is none.
