Yes, but I noticed that the camber angle on my rear driver's side is to wide or something cause on the passengers side the tire is more planted onto the ground if that makes sense.

Maybe it looks more pronounced with the spacers. I would bring the car in for an alignment if you haven't done one for a while.

I have changed my wheel pattern on my MR2 SW20 from 5x114.3 to 5x100 15inch wheel so I used wheel adapters hubcentric 20mm all four. Front I use 8jj wheel, rear 10jj, plus the 20 mm adapters, do the math. They are great. I had to use wide body arches for that.

Awesome review and tutorial! I would also mention to also use only “bolt-on” wheel spacers. Good tire places will know exactly what you’re referring to and will treat your wheels accordingly.

I did this to my old Celica, 15mm at the front and 20mm at the rear. No plans on doing it with my BMW now, I don't think it makes massive difference when it comes to handling. Purely looks I think, I'm happy with how the BMW looks atm.

If you want to be extra safe, just get extended studs with a 15mm hubcentric slip on spacers. If you're going 20mm and up, then yeah, you have no choice but to get adapters. I have 20mm adapters on my car. I'm gonna reduce them down to 10 mm with extended studs. It's simply for wheel clearance because of my large brakes and for the flush look.

i had this setup on my 350Z for about 1.5 years and in that time, the car was my daily driver. It held up fine with no issues and I did just as you said, by retorquing the lugnuts and spacers periodically. It may have been the Ichiba spacers but towards the end of my time with this setup the bolts on them actually stripped. I eventually found a good set of Enkeis with the proper offset and I feel more secure with my new setup than the 370z rays with the spacers. I think it's fine for the short run, but in the long run, it's safer to just get the right set of wheels

AnthonyJ350 I honestly don't recall, but you can look them up online Ichiba V2 wheel adapters. Looking back I would've gone with H&R adapters, especially considering a quick google search on the Ichiba spacers lends itself to some rather negative results, usually associated with stripped studs. I mean they worked fine for me, but i only planned on having them for a short while. My guess is probably made in China

Anthony I totally agree with everything you said in the this video. I guess my question is about guys/gals who build old trucks or cars and using wheels they like, but without air bag systems. I don’t understand how they can turn while going over a curb, without rubbing on there fender with a one inch gap showing, mostly with drop spindles or oversized wheel and tires. Now, honestly, I get it. They love a certain wheel for a look, but may have a stiff suspension or variable rate springs. Perhaps a bumper system that stops the limit of suspension or tire travel. As a dealer tech, I am truly lost as I installed factory stuff. Can you provide me with info that I may learn? I have two sons, the youngest is 34 and doing great work on and 86 Monte & El Camino. I am afraid he is is going to ask me to help him size tires and wheels. I know off-set in mm, and I know that not every company offers a +20 from the hub face out, including the width. Thanks. Thanks for watching Dean! I definitely wouldn't modify a vehicle to limit suspension travel because that will limit control and comfort. The problem when you try to "tuck" wheels and have good "fitment" a lot of the time you restrict steering. If you look at my Regal and Riviera video you'll notice the front wheels have to be set in pretty far in to have proper clearance. This is the compromise for static vehicles that want a particular "stance". If you look at my 350Z I chose good fitment and used an offset that Vossen recommended and I get complimented on looks and fitment all the time. However I decided to run stock height because I didn't want to sacrifice any drivability from my car because it's built as a functional touring car. I worked at the Datsun/Nissan dealer and my background in motorcycles w/multiple carbs, they handed me the repair tickets on the Datsun Roadster (Convertible & 1.6L/2.0L engines) It is the Grandfather to the entire “Z Car Series”. I have one. But both the 240Z & 260Z had twin side draft carbs a “Solex” copy. I owned a 76 280Z which all is knowns around the world as the “ Fairlady”. Hawaii had a large number of Datsun Roasters. Convertible, full box frame, front floating 2 piston disc, Porsche style synchronizer transmission, glass gauge lenses and factory roll-bar available. Thanks for you videos. No. It’s because they are made from soft Chinese aluminum. When you torque the lug nuts, drive on it, the wheel surface will settle in the surface of the soft aluminum and the adapter studs pull into the aluminum from the back, essentially making them longer than they were

I just used this type of adapter to mount Subaru Legacy wheels on my 2004 Chrysler Sebring.both being 5x100 but my Sebring having 12x1.5 studs. They are going to be winter rims.

Absolutely crazy I would never ever use an adapter. I had a friend of mine that had a Jeep Comanche that had some modifications. While driving on a highway in the front wheel flew off. You do make a good point that you should check every 3 months and use loctite. But in reality nobody ever does.

What!!!! I heard it’s not even safe to run spacers higher then 5mm unless you get longer studs. I would feel safe with 3mm spacers and stock studs. Right now I recently added 5mm spacer on the fronts and 15mm wheel adapters with the built in new studs on the rear on my 5 g35 sedan. I wouldn’t go any bigger then 5mm spacers unless it’s a adapter or get longer oem studs.

Very good and informative video. Answering your question about which to choose, I think I would go with the spacers hands down. I know that a lot of people would prefer the adapters because it is easier to insert back the wheels. I think that the adapters are more simple and 50% less bolts to deal with and in my opinion, more secure.

I noticed someone talking about lug nuts. If those are in fact oem 19 inch rays using a conical seat styled lug nut for a wheel that is made for a mag/washer seat is wrong and very unsafe. Get on this!!!

You have to factor wheel offset in conjunction with the thickness of the spacer to get it to go flush properly. I would go to your local wheel shop to figure all that out.

There might be thread lock read on it. Give the lug a little heat with a torch and try to break it free. Heat helps the thread lock return to a liquid state. Stay away from brake lines, electrical and rubber with the torch.

Thanks, I was thinking too aluminum will expand more than steel when heated and perhaps help loosen them also. Some bearings are heated first before the shaft is inserted to shrink fit the part, making a tight fit when cooled.@@AnthonyJ350

A wheel adapter allows you to change the bolt pattern of a vehicle. A wheel spacer whether a slip on or a bolt on will keep the bolt pattern the same.

I have installed adapters on my audi a4 2015 after buying a set of rims from a TT from 2017. I found out that the hubcenter from TT was 57.1 and on my A4 it's 66.5. The original rims from A4 are 8.0J ET47 and from TT are 8.5J ET50. The car looks great with this wheel spacers. The problem with them it's that the steering wheel its harder. When taking a corner it's trying to come back on center faster. Now I hope that my steering its not going to jam or something bad happening with it. The stability it's increased a litle bit but I don't know if it's worth it or not. I do not know if the problem it's only from the wheel spacers or because of the bigger ET and J of the new rims....

I bought 4x100 rims used and to come to find out my car has 4x114.3 I’m not in the market to sell them and get new rims the ones I got sat on marketplace for months and around here there never anything worth it for sell, should I buy some adapters I really want to use the rims and I’m getting 50/50 for using adapters how safe are they it’s a daily driver but it’s not a fast car and I don’t push it and I really only drive like 30 min daily for work

They're safe provided you purchase a brand name, torque them properly and periodically check them. 1 ton duallies come with them equipped from factory to deal with the offset.

Ive been toying with eibach or h&r hubcentric spacers because I have the gt4/anniversary 5 spokes on my 08 350z. I love the wheels but feel as if they should sit out abit more. You have to measure. It's really best to figure out at your local wheel shop. Going with a spacer that thin may require longer wheel studs to be installed.

You need wheel adaptors that are hub centric and also have a hub designed for your wheel to hub centrically mount to. You just have to recheck their tightness regularly.

How much negative offset was your wheel? And was the car lowered?

All spacers do is change the offset of your rim. They won't cause any damage to you suspension or wheel hubs that a rim of the same offset wouldn't cause. I remember people used to ride 10" deep rims with about 7" of rim in the positive offset range and they would mess up your hubs. If you're sticking 3" spacers on a car designed to have a more negative offset, you have to expect problems.

Look up what H&R and Eibach have to offer for spacing. Those are 2 brands I trust. You will have to make sure you retorque them every once in a while. I have only used aluminum and I'm pretty sure in race applications I have only seen aluminum. Offroad applications probably use steel.

why would you tell people to use Loctite blue then tell them to check and retention in a couple of weeks, if you retention the nuts you may as well not use Loctite as you are breaking the bond and it is a waste of time

I know that with the stock lugs you can only use upto 10mm. Anything thicker than that you will need the adapter spacer. The 10mm will give you 4 or maybe 5 threads to torque. Very unsafe! thizzface On my project truck I put spacers and installed longer studs they were 15mm. The rear we went up to 25mm so we ran an adapter because of the thickness. Everything is hub centric.

You need something with the specific bolt pattern and hub diameter for your vehicle. So you'll need to figure out your vehicle's hub and aftermarket wheel opening.

I have those wheels on my G35 coupe same year and rear wheel drive. At first my front tires were scrapping because of the the width of the rims and tires. Spacers are needed to pull these rims off. Now I have to change the spacers that I have because I do have those other ones and the do vibrate around 65 to 75 mph. Make sure to get good spacers not the ones from Advance Auto lol you’ll be vibrating your balls off lol

Ughh.. Those wheels are OEM, they need washer lugs not tuner lugs! Your gonna mess them up! Aftermarket wheels have a tapered seat but the OEM 370z wheels need washer lugs.

AnthonyJ350 put aftermarket wheels on my 03 Acura TL type s bought through tire rack. They were supposedly ok for my car. They ruined both front bearings within 2,500 miles. There’s plenty of info out there about this. Look it up, you’ll see.

I know we're putting a little more stress on them, but we've put 10s of thousands of miles on our after market wheels no problem. Our Camry has over 240,000km on the original wheel bearings. How much larger of a wheel did you go over stock sizing? That has a factor on stressing components, not just offset. Were they 20's?

For me I didn't see the point in spending money on spacers/adapters because I could save up money for a little longer and buy aftermarket wheels with the right offset, instead of paying for spacers/adapters and then paying for wheels in the future.

I'm going from Chevy Celebrity 13" steel wheels to Chevy Cavalier Z24 14" alloys. There is no choice but to use a wheel spacer since the Z24 wheels are ET47 and I need ET38. My problem is I can only find the spacer I need for 14x1.5 studs and I need for 12x1.5 studs.
