As a mom, if I’m giving away clothes for free to a stranger, I would not drive an hour away to meet them. That is a huge safety concern, especially this time of year. The amount of people that would happily lure someone just to do harm is insane now.
@ellisrichmond2438 ай бұрын
My big takeaway from that whole exchange was if this is how she treats strangers, imagine how she treats her own kids behind closed doors :( Hope they'll turn out ok
@johnnyfreespeech58158 ай бұрын
Even ignoring the stranger danger element, you shouldn’t do this anyway. If you’ve got things that are taking up space but aren’t needed then it’s a good idea to give them away to anyone who’s prepared to come and take them and in this scenario you have benefitted in some way. But to actually go out of your way to drive somewhere else and give them away is of no benefit when you then factor in the lost time and car fuel etc... there is no benefit, only detriment. The pushy lady was just being a typical me, me, me 2023 scumbag who thinks that they are the main character in a movie and everybody else is irrelevant. I mean, she even offered a whopping $10. Woo, ten bucks! Whoopdy f***ing doo! I’m expected to do you an incredible favour and you’ll generously give me ten smackers. Wow! How generous of you.

Once offered to make a painting for a friend. Before I started the painting, I got what he wanted, what kind of colors would go with the couch and since it was a painting large enough to fit on a flatbed of a truck, I asked if he had a truck to pick it up. He stared at me and then he said it 'you're dropping it off.' 'No, I'm not. When I offered to paint paintings for others around the office, the only thing I ask was for someone to pick it up.' 'I'm not picking it up. I'm giving you the chance to get rid of the canvases you didn't want anymore.' I never talked to him about the painting and the canvases ended up in the dump.

Same. I kinda feel bad for him, I can think of a few times where I asked what I did wrong, genuinely wondering what I did and how I could improve, only for people to barely explain how what I said was considered rude. I once got in big trouble because I didn’t know “monkey” could be a racial slur, and ended up telling a bully he reminded me of one while using monkey bars. Like it was barely an insult, just a passing remark because of how he moved on ‘em. Nobody explained a single thing and I only learned years later why it could have been considered so nasty to say. And this kid said and did way worse things to me, so. Y’know. That didn’t help either. It kind of hurts to see. Not just the guy being socially awkward, but the one he was texting for not explaining, even if it is a really bewildering thing to not understand.
