A pattern I’ve noticed with people saying “[blank] game isn’t a real game!” Is that the games they refer to are often games with simulated social aspects like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, etc etc. it makes sense that they don’t consider them to be real games, because a lot of the core gameplay of those titles is based around being good at socially interacting with others, something that they clearly don’t understand/aren’t very good at.

They are games, yes. But you can be social on plenty of games. Co-op, multiplayer, MMO. People are talking more about a learning curve of skill and practice more than basic simulators or Candy Crush. The more skill involved, the more respect for a game, usually. That said, group Scrabble is one of the more basic games but it doesn't mean I'm not impressed by someone that is really good at it. It usually takes quick response or being resourceful/knowledgeable. AC and SV can be played solo, and frequently are. Friending someone at their island, decorating or gardening/bartering together is only properly social if you are actively chatting and getting to know the person. I love solitaire, House Flipper and puzzle games when I want to just relax or challenge myself solo. House Flipper is different than MMO raiding or MOBA. My friends play AC and SV in their downtime when we aren't on our toes or practicing.They can map the amount of stress hormone and brain activity produced when someone plays a game, and those fall lower in the scale of difficulty or developing new skills(mostly). Personally, I have to put effort into really learning how to keep up with my husband in Co-op Elden Ring. Which we do in the same room. Coordinating with people on an MMO or being in a guild where you form proper relationships that involve video and voice chat is very social. A lot of us visit each other irl. Actively communicating and learning is something that is needed for anything collaborative and challenging. There is a lot of etiquette involved. In PvP it works best when you communicate in voice to coordinate and have a regular team. Similar with certain games, especially cooperative ones like It Takes Two or A Way Out. I'd kinda think about that a bit more, why you assume why people mock walking simulators, AC, and SV.
@Middleseed5 ай бұрын
I’ve only noticed it with mobile games, which I agree with for most of them. Mobile game are often so barebones they can’t be considered fully fledged games.

In my experience, someone asking “can I tell you something” in this context is, I think, a way for them to try to make you feel like you were the one that brought it on. They realize that saying something deplorable out of nowhere is bad, so they want to create the illusion that it’s your fault.

For the second interaction, negging is never a great way to treat other people and a person who does that, avoid at all costs. Another thing to avoid is if someone says something insulting to you and brushes it off by saying "Just kidding" or "You're too sensitive", because there is truth behind those insults of what they feel about you.
@casusbelli92255 ай бұрын
>"Just kidding" or "You're too sensitive" Funniest parts are: 1) They claim they are "honest", but, in reality, they are just too infantile to even having a basic tact. 2) The moment they have something they don't like, they whine and bitch even more than "le snowflakes." Times have really changed since I was a teenager and 20 year old trying to meet a girl on the internet. As a 41 year old married man now, I’m so glad all that difficult back and forth between a man and a woman when they are first meeting is over. I met my wife on MySpace back in 2007 and we connected through just chatting about random things movies, books, tv shows, who we are as people before we met each other and all that too. Damn time flies, in October it would be 17 years already since my wife and I been together as a couple and been married for 9 of those 17 years. Before meeting my wife, I will say that it was very rare to meet a girl who played and loved video games, I had never met a girl who had during my days of hanging out and dating random women, some of them would even tell me that I needed to grow up and stop playing video games when I would tell them that I played video games and loved them. Times really are different now, and you would think it would be easier for men to connect with women who play and love video games too, but after seeing this video, and witnessing other horror stories of gamer guys being so awkward and failing to get with a gamer girl, it apparently isn’t easy at all.
