It's not the scam caller that makes the money in this(he is just making a minimum wage) ... It is the top boss, who doesn't even have to get his hands dirty.
@jimreily75384 жыл бұрын
@@srijan4069 Not exactly. Many scammers make very good money, and are paid very well. It's a widespread misconception that most scammers are poor people held hostage by their rich bosses. The truth is more complex, but, as Jim himself has mentioned in the past, most Indian tech support scammers make very good money. And not just relative to India, but good money even by Western standards. Most of these scammers propagate a feeling of being part of a team. The more money one scammer makes, the more the whole office makes. Scammers, unlike telemarketers, don't typically work on commission, but are paid wages, and the more people they scam, the higher they are paid. They know exactly what they're doing. Scammers also rationalise their actions in the following ways: - "Westerners are stupid and so deserve to have their money stolen". - "We deserve money now than the people we scam". - "I want to live a high lifestyle with a nice car, phone and all the trappings wealth can provide. I'll do whatever it takes to make that money". - "If I can make a good living by stealing money, and if I can do so without any real chance of being brought to justice, I'm willing to do so." Again, the concept that individual tech support scammers are poor employees, who pay all their scammed cash to a big boss, is actually not the case in most instances. People want to be sympathetic to those in 2nd and 3rd world nations, for good reason. But if scammers in those nations are willing to steal money without any compunctions, they deserve no sympathy. They are no better than common thieves, pickpockets, or con artists. Most Indian tech support scammers are, in fact, con artists themselves. Shameless, well paid, criminally minded, absent any sense of conscience.
@jimreily75384 жыл бұрын
Just to add to my previous comment - watch how angry and aggressive most scammers become when their intended victims don't comply. These scammers are willing to spend hours and hours on the phone with their victims. They put in considerable time. If they were going to hand all their ill-gotten money to their boss, they would not be so motivated. Yet they are - because they make good money, and live very well, on stolen money. I have sympathy for those who are truly in bad situations, but I don't have much sympathy for people who knowingly and willingly steal other people's money, to buy nice clothes, watches, phones and other trappings of the sort. A person who is willing to steal the life savings of a 90 year old dementia patient is not a person I'm going to have sympathy for. Yet I've seen time and time and time again, scammers willing and keen to steal money from people with all sorts of problems. They don't care. And they don't deserve to be thought of as victims themselves. They are victimisers.

@Laezar14 жыл бұрын
@@jimreily7538 The rationalization you showcased here also apply for CEO's laying off employees by the way (and probably doing tax evasion and other similar schemes). Sadly the best way to be guaranteed an easy life under capitalism is to dehumanize others and be willing to cheat, exploit, steal and ruin other people's lives for your benefit. So it's not limited to scammers really, it's a more general issue than that. When the most vulnerable members of society are seen as opportunities to profit rather that people we should care for that's when these behaviors occur.

What I do worry about though is, this is totally baseless and just my assumption, but I think a lot of people in this line of work are also trapped in here through bad dealings with gang stuff. The information he leaked here could possibly get him in trouble with other scammers and gangs that have control over him or are competing with him in the same scams. Whether he was just dumb, unlucky or complacent when he got stuck in this line of work, I don’t think he’s got a way out anymore with all the corruption and power these gangs might have. Again this is purely just me imagining the worse case scenario for these guys, i sometimes worry that the photos in the beginning of the video shown, even with his censored face, might be enough to identify him within his community and whether or not he’d be hunted down by mob stuff etc.

I'm by no means condoning it, but you gotta see it like someone on Napster or the like. When they take the song and don't pay for the album, they justify it by saying the band has plenty of money. Same with insurance scams. This guy lives in a trash hole and sees tons of available money that, from his perspective, is excess. Then, just like someone being caught for a pirated mp3, he sees that he could get in serious doodoo. You gotta feel bad for him. While this video is fantastic to watch, to anyone feeling "sorry" for this guy getting caught; I know many elderly people in my family that could potentially fall for a scam like this, and if they did, they would be close to in tears of fright, and scared way more than this guy. Just remember that this man has taken thousands of dollars from completely innocent people around the world. Mostly from the nicest most sweetest old grandma you could imagine. Potentially destroying their lives. I am really glad to see that Jim made an example of this man. Scammers (if you listen alot to Kitboga, you'll know), feel close to "invulnerable" when called out, and just try and laugh it away as if they "cannot be touched". Spreading this trough the scammers viewlist might help some of them re-think their current work, and show that a taste of their own medicine is absolutely something that can happen. Thank you Jim for doing this. You seem to have found an effective way of trying to stop this, since going to the police like you have done previously, hasn't given that much results. Please keep it up, and never ever tell anyone how you actually DO these things so that they can't protect themselves. (Even though we are curious ass hell. Hehe).

@@Enforcedcraft They should improve their country. I'm sure they would love to. But these things take time to do. Economies at a national scale are complicated. Even in wealthy Western nations we experience recessions and we as citizens feel powerless to improve things during those times. Let's not expect these people to have the ability to change their nation quickly. Some of these people may be well enough off and be greedy. I would bet many are not and are trying to make ends meet. I don't condone their actions but a parent trying to feed their children, their parents, grand parents, etc. will do desperate things. I feel sorry for these people because I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. I see a human with needs who has been forced into a situation they probably don't like to get by. Improving your own nation is the correct thing to do, but a child's hungry tummy doesn't have time to wait. Let's just try to empathetic and hope they improve the lives of their citizens quickly.

RemixRocket 101 Please watch the video again. “Alex” (the scammer) and Chandan are 2 different people. “Alex” probably found the profile of this Chandan guy on the Microsoft website and pretended to be Chandan to Jim (and other victims as well). This mentality applies to many businesses. "Remove the person, it's just sales." People convince themselves it's necessary and businesses do terrible, insensitive things for 'sales.' See: Donald Trump

Well imagine the only way you can make money is to scam others and you have to justify and rationalize what you do in your head everyday. Not saying I sympathize for the guys but I can see where they come from having to become very cold to do what they do. The ones who don’t want to do it but have to to survive it must suck for, the ones who don’t give a shit and do it because they have no morals are who need to burn

@@d-meth Extreme poverty = extreme scenarios. When my mother was a child, in rural Bangladesh, there used to be thieves in her neighbourhood who stole solely to get enough food or money to get by because without it they would die. This also wasn't the type of place where you could just simply "get a job" either. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people being forced to scam due to not being able to make a living otherwise.
@simontmnf4 жыл бұрын
@@d-meth I think he meant that they "have to" because they live in India. This is not meant to defend them, but the guy from this video has a wife and a kid, they probably live in a house in a larger city which can get a bit more expensive for indian standards and if we pretend other similarly paid jobs are hard to get there, I can imagine that he has not too many different choices. And as was mentioned in other comments, this is unfortunately a full time job in India, it generates a shit ton of money every year and well, some people have do it to survive (as wrong as it may sound).
