Wow, I admire her. So courageous, smart, and honest. She’s already done an epic thing that has trapped and overwhelmed so many in her position for all those generations.

Trust me: anyone who is a thinking being has to start over from scratch at least once in their adult life--often more than once. Because false beliefs are exposed, and we all have to re-arrange our mental paradigm to conform to the truth as it is gradually revealed.

YES! People think everything is supposed to stay the same for a lifetime but everything is in flux all the time. Starting over from scratch is a good thing. And it’s not even really”scratch” for most people bc they still have income, a home, food etc. To me, starting over from scratch means you have NOTHING at all and have to build a life from that.

I feel that both of them are really sweet and want the best for each other too. In his description it was clear how he was doing his best to accurately describe what she has been going through too.

Gawd I empathize with her so much. Leaving a fundamentalist religion will break you down to the most raw and basic components of who you are. It's one of the most painful things you can experience mentally and emotionally. The beautiful thing is that once you rebuild and find yourself on the other side, there is no going back. Your life, your actual life can begin and it will be bigger and more beautiful than you could have ever imagined.

Heart wrenching. Good couple, they’ve been through so much together. I hope they find their foundation is actually intact and had nothing to do with that church.

No, actually, she's one of the most oblivious, self involved people I've ever personally witnessed! She was adamant she didn't feel any remorse for the immense pain that had been caused to him when she cheated on him, she felt no regret for her infidelity. She quite literally said she was proud of herself for betraying him because she "freed" him from the close minded, monogamous model of love. Even though he didn't WANT to be "freed", didn't ASK to be "freed", and was devastated by her betrayal. Neither his pain or desire to be committed mattered, only her beliefs were valid. She fully believed she was entitled to betray him and destroy his life as he knew it, in order to "enlighten" him, she gave herself that right. She was annoyed he wasn't grateful to her for the gift she had given him....the gift of having an affair behind his back. She's had some truly strong narcissistic traits and was REALLY hard to watch!

“So much was taken from me and now I’m having to start from scratch with pieces of an old life that wasn’t authentic to me……” This sounds similar to what people must do when they’re coming out of some kind of trauma and/or addiction. You try to move forward in life, however, you’re still living the life you created while you traumatized and/or addicted.

I just finished their season and honestly I hope they both moved on. Her especially had so much trauma from that church that I don't ever think she can see him as himself , rather he will always remind her of that church, and will always punish him for that. They both deserve happiness and it seems they need to do that separately.

He was so dismissive of the fact he had betrayed her by staying in the cult long after it had severely abused her. I understood the frustration.

This one was tough to watch. Starting from scratch at any age feels like a burden and yet all ages have to come to terms with their own set of beliefs.

She knows what she wants and what she wants is a divorce. I can tell in the way she expresses herself. Shes frustrated about it bc she knows it’s the wrong thing to do. To leave someone who loves you so much they changed their life to see your point of view. She knows that what she has here is real love but she herself is getting in the way. She’ll choose authenticity in the end bc I can tell she thinks it’s what will make her happy. Boy is she mistaken. I once fell down that rabbit hole too

I don't know if "ME" ever stops. But if the development of "ME" was stunted in some way, halted, repressed, or shut off, "ME" will need a chance to bloom before it can transform to "WE".
