Matt is seriously one of the coolest and most down to earth dudes in all of metal (and the music industry in general). Despite the fact that "nobody eats before Matt Heafy eats" (jk, I had to), he is one of the most genuine and humble guys in the business. Not to mention, Trivium has one of the best discographies in modern metal and have really been gatekeepers for what I love about the genre. Not many modern bands have such a wide collection of fantastic songs with such variety and legitimately interesting songwriting (and I actually love Vengeance Falls, so haters can blow me. Villainy Thrives, Strife, and Incineration are some of the best Trivium songs).

Really? I like Trivium and all but I thought his last solo was just terrible, it had no mesh with the riff at all and it just sounded like he was running up and down a scale. And yes, I know that's sort of what a solo is, but there's also feel, melody and symmetry with the song that goes into a great solo, and I felt that 4th solo didn't have any of that. The preceding three were great, though.

Matt's Round 2 was frickin insane! I absolutely love that little cut out effect he does. I know very little of guitars and how to play them, self-teaching atm, but good lord, this was awesome to watch. I've always been a huge fan of Trivium since I first heard them. My gf bought me the Ascendancy album and I was instantly hooked, and the fandom has just increased at an all time high, especially with Matt taking time to interact with fans and doing his own Twitch stuff, such as food, gaming and even some performances. My first metal concert needs to be Trivium.

Matt wins just for the fact that he is actually playing live. It's fair when both are recording their solos into a DAW (and most probably editing them) but when one is playing directly through an amp and recording, then he wins... No hate though, I'm sure Matt did this because he didnt have "2 Days" or so like Jared does to work on the video. It's very cool of him that he actually did this shred wars video Awesome Feature Jared :D

cazza710 What you said is true but there is no proof he used it for this video (he could be using any amp). Plus whether he used it or not, he is still playing live. Unlike Jared, who is recording a video of himself playing along the already recorded track. Just like lip syncing but for guitar (theres a term for it but i forgot it). While Matt is obviously recording what he is playing in the video. Get it?

Leonardo Salazar Baeza yes i can. But that doesnt fool me into thinking he is using this specific take or did not "edit the tracks later on" as I said earlier, and I really doubt that these solos he is performing to be one continuous take. I'm not bashing Jared Dines. He is a studio master, there is nothing wrong with using his skills for tweaking his guitar tracks till they sound flawless. Not to mention there is nothing wrong with the "miming" technique (yes I found the term, as referred to by Pete Cottrel in his "How I make my videos & new super PC!"). It is as he (Pete) said in his video is a "very much more productive way of filming". Almost all youtube guitarists use it, not just Jared. In fact I myself recorded a cover of 11th hour by Lamb Of God as an audio file and soon will be recording the video and editing it together, "miming". I haven't watched all Jared's "Shred Wars" videos but all the ones I've seen were of both "Shred Warriors :)" miming. Just for the purpose of this specific video as I stated, it was not fair (since Matt was not miming). Peace yall...
