If you're looking to play this on ukulele, you can use the C and A string, and just subtract one fret from everything in the guitar tutorial. It's in a different key, but it works :) so for example, the verse would be frets 4, 6, 1, 2 all on the C string.

BOY does playing this give you major hand cramp, or that just me? Anyway it was really lovely hearing your explanation, and it just increased my appreciation of the lyrics because they don't explain themselves, if that makes sense? Like "super-glued human of proof" doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone else but it does to you and that's so important.
@aqaoog20899 жыл бұрын
+Izzy Inkpen Agree, i always love that in a song. When you hear a phrase you don't totally get, but knowing it has some sort of meaning to the writer makes it special.

The song actually makes me think of my older brother and how much we grow apart and back together but he is always there for me when I am definitely a broken teen. He's been through so much and us growing up has definitely made me realise that he is deeper than I can ever know, and that we all have cracks that run deeper than anyone else can understand. He's my rock and this just makes me cry thinking of him and how lovely he is. He's a good egg.

EVERYONE CONFUSED BY THE STRUMMING/PLUCKING PATTERNS: a really good friend of mine actually knows how to play SOLS, so i asked her to explain it. here's what she said: (btw, what she refers to as the 6th string is what dodie refers to as the 1st, and the 4th = 3rd) you hit the 6th string once, then the 4th, then the 6th again, but then when you go back to the 4th string, you hit it twice. (this would make that 13-133) and you slide you finger on the 6th string from the fifth fret, then to the seventh, then to second and third. that's through the verses. then, at the pre-chorus (the 'what the hell would i be --), you just hit the 6th string and the 4th string for two turns (13-13) before sliding from the seventh fret to fifth, then to ninth, and you repeat that sequence twice. then for the chorus, it goes the same as the verses except, after the seventh fret, you slide to the sixth and then to first and back to fifth. i know, my girl's a gift. i havent tried this yet, but i have no reason to believe it's wrong 😂i hope this helps some of you!

Mandi I get the verses strumming but u kinda confused me on the pre-chores strumming, can u please explain that part to me ?
@bridgettebeach62567 жыл бұрын
okay so what i gathered was from dodies explaination is: firts string, third string, first, third, third and then move frets, same strumming. then you do just two of each so first, first, third, third, and then you move frets.

I remember loving this song when it came out. I never knew what would happen to me, just 4 short years later. Reflecting on this abusive relationship, I've come back round to this song, and it's never hit me harder. Thank the universe for friends that open our eyes because I wouldn't be healing if it hadn't been for them. Anyway, my point of commenting is that your music has always been there for me, whether I really truly related to it or not. I appreciate what you do, dodie. Please never stop sharing with us. You mean so much to so many people.

I'm so happy we got a little explanation of the lyrics! I was so curious and holy damn can I relate to being so so fed up with losing people close to you. I'm such a clingy friend, I borderline refuse to let people go and it's pretty fucking sad actually. I once kept sending someone birthday and christmas cards and presents for three years with nothing in return when they used to be one of my BEST friends until I finally gave up. :( Also wow do I want to cover this but I no longer own a guitar

Doddie, I also call those extremely close friends as soul mates. Because they can't be just friends. Like the word is not enough to contain what we had experienced together. I love the song so much, now that I know a little more about the back story. I spent like two years in an emotionally abusive relationship. I lost all of my childhood friends because of this relationship. I'm still trying to make new friends, but so far I'm still pretty alone. I'm kind of scared of people bc my ex used to tell me over and over how everyone I knew just wanted to use me for their own amusement and I believed him. It's been more than a year since I broke up with him, and I'm still picking up the pieces of my self esteem.

this is one of those songs where i think about every time i've played pretty much this exact guitar part, especially of the verse, when warming up and never made anything out of it, and this is it!! it sounds so good!! i love your music dodie

So now you've released the explanation of the song it turns out it's exactly what I expected it to be about and also exactly what I am also going through... you've captured the feeling beautifully Dodie and its both even more beautiful and even more painful to listen to now that I know for sure what it's about. I hope everything works out okay for you and that you keep your friend, and when things get difficult that you find a way to keep your head up high because you're a beautiful person and you deserve to be happy. Much love xx

Believe it or not, I had no idea how to hold a guitar beforehand and in 20 minutes I managed to learn the whole song and lyrics. Great job, Dodie!

I just discovered this song and it made me cry thinking about my friend who helped me through a lot of mental health stuff and who I eventually dated for a while, we're not together anymore and don't really talk, we've both found people who are much better for us in terms of a partner, but the song just reminded me of how I thought we would always be together and now looking back it seems so silly and childish because we were so young, yet everything they helped me through in my life, I'll always be grateful for that and a part of my heart will always have love for them

Wait! I know who it is, damn. I thought he was better than that, hm anyway, I hope you know that you deserve better than him Dodie, we all love you a lot. Thank you for this x

im relating to dodie so much, me and my boyfriend broke up last night and we've been together for almost two years and he was controlling and i lost so many friends because he also convinced me that my friend where evil snd bad friends...i asked him if we could have a brake but he said no and he basically said "its all or nothing" so i had to go for nothing and it broke me and im still sad about it. I chose to brake up with him while i was out with my closest friends and i had just had enough. They all hugged me and where (still are) so supportive and i love them so much and i dont want to lose them again x they probably wont read this but im so happy that they have helped me so much, thankyou everyone

This song makes me cry. I think it's in a good way though, I find crying relatively therapeutic and cleansing in a way. It reminds me of previous relationships I've had; I think I need to get that hurt out of my system and really appreciate the ones I have now. Thank you for allowing the song to wash over me. It's so beautiful, just like you

Jesus, Dodie. You are the most perfect human being. You are just the most caring, loving, sweetest, goodest (is that even a word?) person I have ever (not in real life) known. I can't listen to your songs without getting emotional af and without going 'daaw' in my head. I'm literally obsessed. I guess you kind of changed my life. I feel like a better person just being able to play this song (more or less). Okay, fine. Enough. Just keep in mind that you are so, so loved.
Hi Dodie! I hope you're doing well! I know you probably won't read this and I'm sure you've gotten a bunch of similar comments but you have truly influenced and changed a life. I've struggled with bipolar depression for the last 4 years and when you're in such a slump you learn to appreciate small things. This channel's videos helped me bunches! I even picked up the guitar and self taught myself because of you! Music has helped me get through little rough patches and that choosing music as something to aide my depression was inspired by you. Not only are you talented, but you're also genuine which is difficult to find among youtubers. Never lose that quality! Thank you for being the amazing human being you are, I hope you are doing lovely!

:0 This sing actually sounds waaaaaay more complicated than it actually is.. :) I think I watched this solely because I love watching Dodie :D and how she explains stuff on guitar :'D .. Sooooo much funnn :D ... Also the song song hit me deep , I feet the exact same way Dodie Explained it, Like seriously life is not cool sometimes.. I just found a "soulmate" and then I was moved to another country :( we still keep up , but everyday I wonder how long can we keep it going.. and I don't know what to do. It's like throw away this opportunity I've got and go home. or throw her away... it literally eats me up inside. :/

I'm probably the only person who sees it this way. But I recently lost my horse to a sickness, then when I was ready to find a new one to love, she got taken away from me last week and moved away. I found this song a few days ago and boy can I relate. love it tho dodie! it's great😊

can you make a tutorial for it on ukulele
@tori30258 жыл бұрын
You've just got to tune it down and play the 5,7,2,3 bits on the bottom string and use the 1st string as your base string (dgce tuning rather than gcea) the strings plucked on the guitar for this song are are d and e.
