Assuming the dry sump oiling system is plumbed properly, do the following: Open a crankcase vent on the engine / valve cover. Block the dry sump tank vent. Apply about 2 PSI to the dry sump tank while cranking the engine. This will push oil to the pressure side of the pump and into the engine. For a wet sump engine that won't prime: Leave the filter backed off a couple of turns, make sure you have a catch pan under it. Block all valve cover / fill tube vents. Apply 2 PSI to the dip stick tube while cranking the engine. When oil flows from the filter adapter, tighten the filter and crank / start the engine to complete the process.

Make a jumper hose and try it at each spot to make sure the rubber inside the hose hasn’t failed

If everything checks out, it could be the rubber inside a hose (failure) that's acting as a flap and restrict the oil flow.

I've seen and done that building hoses for aircraft. The assembly process can sometimes cut the inside rubber a little a create a "flapper"

I’ve had that happen on waterlines on my Seadoo. Lining delaminating and next thing you know you got a hose plug.

@@Airplanefish I am a retired diesel mechanic working mainly on dump trucks, MAC, Sicard, Kenworth and Pacific. We were making our own hose assembly (in the 70's), no crimping, just the screw on fittings and I've seen all kind of failures, some resulting in hydraulic oil showers, funny when it's not you getting it.

I had a black 07 3ss or whatever, that I did a cam and converter in, which was kind of my transition from big block and small block stuff, to the LS world. First!🤗 Boy, does that altered wheel base Mopar bring back memories. I spent many a happy hour watching cars like that match race at beautiful US 30 drag strip in 1965. Ramchargers, Dyno Don, Grumpy Jenkins, Dick Harrell, Fast Eddie Schartman and more. By the end of the season, fuel injection, nitromethane and straight axles were the thing to have. What a crazy season that was.

I think it's better suited to a quarter-mile at a time. All of the elements to make it a drag-n-drive car should be done to a different car, not a car with drag racing history in its resume. Go find a different car if you want to drag-n-drive it. I think Tom has already said that it's destined to be a no-prep car.

Disconnect oil inlet hose at the pump and observe oil flow. If none or little try to blow air backwards thru the hose to the tank(gently) and see if it clears it if it does and no flow hose is done. Good luck.

the fuel system I would put a fuel pressure Gauges between lines and rails on the fuel rails site glass see if you get air.

Mullet's SMX killed the oil pump when the tip of one of the inlet screens broke off and it ate it. Wonder if your pump has suffered a similar thing?

@@knightsofthehokeypokey8296 If you take the lines off...hold your hand over each section and see that they're sucking. 'Just rebuilt' could also mean 'just assembled wrong'...though it should have been tested I'd think. If the hoses aren't obstructed, and the tank is flowing...then it pretty much means the pump ain't pumping the way it should. Is it spinning the right direction? ( I know the belt is...but if the pump got built for reverse rotation?)

Sometimes you need to squirt some oil on the inlet side of the pump but not very often. The hose that hooks onto the bottom of the tank is the suction for the inlet side of oil pump . Like Steve always says " it's pretty simple " lol

Pump unit the wrong way around and turning the wrong way? If you see gear turnin inward in the center on outlet it’s ok, if the other way its not ok.

Take a half hour remove the tank, split it open and look inside. gives you a chance to inspect and clean and eliminate any issues there. After that its down to taking each section of the oil path isolate it and feed oil thru. You WILL find where there is a blockage or restriction for sure.

It's only the oil system. No big deal. If you want to buy a new engine. Makes no sense to me either. If there are no restrictions, then the pump is not working. Turning, but not building pressure. Do you have a check valve stuck open ??????

Gear in the pump get put in backwards so it's trying to pump into the tank instead of suck from it? Don't know if that's even possible but an idea for ya. Otherwise run the feed hose into a bucket of oil and see if it will suck that in. Would rule out tank issue if it doesn't.
