Glad y'all caught that. This type of thing, or even an axle breaking is why I've stated many times that the drivers that enter certain street races need to tell everyone to stand behind their cars or there will be no racing. And yes, I've had people wanting to argue the fact but the facts are, if a street racers car breaks an axle and it throws the car into people and they're hurt or even worse, It is the driver of the car that will be going to jail for it. Taking a chance on being charged with vehicular manslaughter or homicide isn't something I'd be willing to take a chance on.

It is so great that you found the short axle on the dyno. I have a friend who stripped the splines of an axle as the car went into high gear at about 166 mph. hit the wall head on, and he had compression fractures in his back. Thank God you found this. And Dewey, what more can I say about him? He is the BASB (Bad Ass Shop Boss). Thanks again Steve....

My 3 most overused important "dad-isms"; 1) Be careful 2) Better safe than sorry 3) It can always be worse. I see those are the same or very similar at Steve Morris Engines throughout all the videos I've watched and rewatched. A bad axle on the hub dyno is a few hundred dollar fix, but on the track can be significantly more catastrophic.

That holley tuning interface looks like CAKE compared to what we do for older Audis using me7.5 ecus. (Extremely capable ecus, factory ecu can do virtually everything an aftermarket efi controller can except dual Injection) we have to find a random letter group that someone broke down from the factory programming, scan the ecu BIN to find the table. And jump back and forth like that between a few programs to modify the values, do checksums etc. Just click clicky would be AMAZING🤣 at least our way is essentially free

I've never seen a hub dyno in person. Are the legs/outriggers the only thing they are registered on or is there a track in the floor or something similar? Also, is the car tied down to the floor like a roller dyno? You see some body movement during the pull, so I'd assume the suspension is not rigidly bound up. Thanks for posting such a big variety of content!

I just had a similar conversation with my boss about why I want to spoil the rearmed instead of using an LSD that can only handle 500ftlbs. He’ll be making twice that and made very clear, you do not want a tire to unload under any kind of power it will hurt you real bad. So I’m going to spool it.
@NBSV1
@NBSV1 Жыл бұрын
If you break an axle the spool will be what makes it turn. All the power goes to the good side and will make the car turn. With an open diff, or most limited slips it would tend to stay straighter, but also not want to put power down.
