Clarification: I am aware that the milled slide was introduced to handle the power of the .357 Sig. I was asking about stamped carbon steel because the German Sig factory continued to make stamped carbon steel P series handguns until a few years ago. I understand that carbon steel is cheaper to produce, but I was wondering why Sig Germany stuck with it while the Exteter facility was making milled slides. My theory was that there was little benefit to switching over, because some of the hotter rounds that would necessitate a milled slide are banned in Germany. The answer that they didn't want to spend the money switching equipment also makes sense.
